Wanted to add this here because this place shows up as offering knife sharpening, likely due to earlier reviews. They do NOT offer this anymore

I tend to shop around all the time for kitchen ware, not just for cooking but I make soap and body products. I order majority of my things from Amazon but sometimes I like to see certain items before I purchase them. I always pass this store on my way to and from the subway because of work. I went into this store this morning for the first time to look around, but ended up picking up some things. The lady in there was rude as helll!!! I was a little taken back by her behavior towards me. I put my items on the counter and she began to ring me up. I then requested she remove two wooden spoons that were $ 13 bucks(way overpriced), but even before that she was acting really rude as if she could not wait for me to leave. I was hoping to just brush her off and not write a review as I have only written one review on Unilocal for Hoboken beer garden(which was 5 star review). I was bothered a lot by the way I was treated as a customer, and trust me I’m not a petty person. Anyway as I was picking up my bag to leave, I told the lady«thank you» and she took her hand and SHOOOED me away like I was a fly. I have never been disrespected like this before, especially at a store where I’m purchasing items from. I seriously contemplated walking back in there and returning every item I bought because that is how upset I was at the blatant disrespect. I will not say don’t shop there because she may have just had a bad day as we all do, but this was my experience as a FIRSTTIME customer. I will never shop there again. EVER! I hope that through this review they learn to treat ALL customers with respect.

Anytime I see a self-described«kitchen supply store» I have to stop in and check it out, but Chef King left me pretty underwhelmed. It’s not as large as the supply stores downtown, so naturally they can’t have quite the inventory, but I didn’t see much in the way of pots and pans – definitely more flatware, dishware, and smaller kitchen supplies. The prices, however, certainly deterred me from buying anything, as items were more expensive than I’ve seen elsewhere. If you’re on the UES and convenience of location is more important than cost at that moment, it will do in a pinch, but it’s not worth a special trip.

I gave them 3 knives to get sharpened and in two days they came back… sharp! Just like I wanted, no problems.

They are super nice there and have a decent selection. However, I find the prices more expensive than other stores. However, if you live on the UES and don’t want to go to the Bowery this is the best place around.

Do you consider yourself an amateur chef? Do you work as a professional chef? Or are you the type who just likes to play with incredibly sharp knives? If you live on the UES then this nifty little store is a must to explore. They are loaded with all types of kitchen utensils, cooking tools, appliances, and hardware. Everything is on hand here for either those of us who like to dabble in our small apartment kitchens, or make a living as a professional grade chef. They feature an impressive array of top quality knives, and also offer in-store knife sharpening services. Pretty much anything is here that you need as a cook — from the smallest tool, to glasses, place settings, industrial kitchen appliances, pots, pans, forks/spoons, blenders, grills, etc. Every inch of this place is filled with merchandise. It’s a terrific little store for restaurant owners in the area to get some supplies when needed, or for the locals who are looking to improve their cooking game. Prices seems fair too.
