I’ve been in the audio/​visual world for the better part of a decade DJing club bangers in various parts of the world… so there are many times where I’m in need of new headphones, speakers, mixers, CDJs/​turntables, etc… And so far in NYC, I’ve been thoroughly pleased with my experiences at Canal Sound & Light.
They’ve got a great staff that knows a thing or two about getting your bar, restaurant, wedding, or private event spiffed out properly. With a litany of electronic items to choose from and an emerging rentals department, it’s highly probably they’ll have whatever you need, whenever you need it.
Being just around the corner from Mercer and Canal, it makes parking a large vehicle pretty easy (Mercer is basically devoid of traffic). It’s not exactly «legal» to park on Mercer unless you’re a delivery person, but there’s more than enough parking to be had, and if you’re quick, you probably don’t have to worry about receiving a parking violation.
If you find yourself in need of audio/​visuals and live anywhere around downtown, hit ‘em up!

35 $ before tax for a shure m447 stylus? I’ve never seen a product marked up so high… Total rip off, went to guitar center a few miles away and got the same product for 25 $ after taxes.

these guys don’t play! great prices and they’ll help you find what you’re looking for. they have been around forever for a reason. don’t go to guitar center, ect for your dj stuff. this is the spot.

I made a purchase online from them, which initially went well. Two items listed on the site were actually out of stock, but they were able to substitute alternatives and still get me my order next day. Unfortunately a remote and linking cable were missing from the package.
It took a few phone calls to get a hold of them, but Jeff contacted me the following week and I must say the response and resolution were beyond satisfactory. Though there were delays, ultimately it was great to hear back and I do look forward to supporting a local NYC business by shopping with them again.

I recently stopped in this store while having a leisurely stroll through the Chinatown marketplace while waiting for a friend to find a too-​good-​to-​be-​true deal from one of the street vendors. At first I was just browsing the most recent audio equipment while wondering just how obsolete my sound system actually is, when I remembered that I actually needed something I could purchase from the store: a new stylus for my record player. Barely able to remember the brand name of my needle, the salesman was very nice and helped me find the exact stylus I was looking for, and the right quality level too, and he didn’t try to sell me the next level up, which I already knew I didn’t need and was fully expecting him to try to push on me. On top of that, their price was comparable to eBay pricing, which made me very happy. I fully plan on using this business for all my audio needs in the future.
