Caña y Cafe

Brought a Groupon for four. It included 2 appetizers, 4 entrees and 8 margaritas. Great deal. For apps we ordered the mini mofongos with shrimp. Delicious. Entrees we all had the Hangar steak. It was also delicious. Only complaint was that we all had different cuts of the steak. Some thin as paper others your normal cut. All and all still delicious.
We went at @5:30 pm on a Saturday. Place was empty. We got waited on hand and foot which was great. Come early and enjoy.

Let me know when the grade pending comes down its been up since May 2015. I was really looking forward to having dinner here and as Im about to walk in there it is grade pending. Until I know why sorry can’t eat here.

Came here on a Friday night during a fraternity event, and boy it was PACKED.
Good thing this place had high ceilings because otherwise, it would feel tiny as hell.
This place didn’t catch my attention too much– I don’t know if it was the design, or the fact that the lights were still on at 12AM. It was so hard for me to walk to the table where my friends were at because it was so packed, we could barely move.
Once I sat with them, I had a few sliders which were delicious. They had fried calamari, empanadas and wings. I had a few beers as well, but other than that, this place still didn’t convince me.
Don’t know if I’ll be coming here any time soon. If I do, it’ll have to be on a night where it’s not that packed and with great company.

The food presentation was beautiful, and the quality was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was impeccable. Warner was our server and was very attentive and extremely personable. He has a great personality, and he truly cares about the business. We will definitely be back, and absolutely recommend that you check it out. Ask for Warner.

I purchased a groupon for $ 46. It included one appetizer, two entrees and 2 drinks for each (4 drinks total). We ordered the fried calamari for the appetizer, the churrasco and pork dish. They were all delicious and reasonable size. For the drinks we ordered the passion fruit margarita which the waiter asked us if we wanted them strong or normal. We obviously said Strong and can’t complain! The only thing is that we went for dinner not to lounge and they came twice to ask us if we wanted hookah. Which we DIDNT! Overall good music and food. Recommended

This place was horrendous when it came to service. I ordered an appetizer, entrée and drink and it took thirty minutes to tell me that they didn’t have guacamole. You f***** kidding me? Then they have the audacity to come to me thirty minutes after that to tell me they didn’t have chicken parmesan. Strike two then I ordered a white sangria and that was non existent too. The manager thought it was appropriate to just add shots to make the table happy. I just wanted my food f*** shots of the cheapest tequila I’ve ever had. Incompetence was alive in this place. The place was NOT busy but I can imagine how messed up it can get on a Friday. Ridiculous

So my boyfriend and I came to Caña y Café on 6÷10÷2015 after having purchased a LivingSocial which gave us an appetizer, two entrees and a drink for each us.
As we walked in, we were greeted at the door by a guy who ended up being our waiter as well. It was pretty empty but the décor was very nice. We were seated quickly and had water on our table within seconds of being sat.
We took one look at the menu and knew immediately what we were going to order. For the appetizer, we ordered the Fried Calamari which was FANTASTIC! It was crispy on the outside which is how I love it — maybe it was fried too hard but the flavor made it great.
For drinks, the waiter suggested the Passion Fruit Frozen Margarita and honestly, he hit the nail RIGHT on the head! It was great, we even went on to order another round.
Lastly, for our entrees, I had the Churrasco De Cerdo over mashed potatoes and to say that it was PERFECTION would be underselling it. It was better than I expected. My partner had the Jumbo Shrimp filled with Crab Meat over a bed of vegetable rice, he loved the shrimp and crab meat but RAVED about the rice. Afterall, he is a rice lover.
We hear the place as 20cent wings on Tuesdays and I am a wing lover… I’ll DEFINITELY be back this coming Tuesday.

Great Sangria! Best I can remember if I am to be honest (everyone else seated down were also drinking the red sangria) Good service, cheap and excellent tasty wings. Dined here twice and I am looking forward to the third.

I don’t even know where to start but I’m really disappointed with this place. It was one of my favorite places until last night.
I went with my friends for cinco de mayo they had really great deals and to be honest I’ve only dined at this place when it’s been slow and last night it was pretty packed (I’m not saying this is an excuse but they obviously don’t know how to handle crowds).
1. I waited 2 hours for 20pcs of chicken wings and yuca fries
2. The bartender was rude, forgot our drinks, and didn’t even care not even an apology
3. They changed up the prices on us when it was time to pay
4. When we asked to speak to the owner he refused to talk to us
What gets me the most is the lack of customer service. I’m a frequent customer and I loveD this place but I don’t think I’m ever going back because of this horrible experience. I went in there STARVING and watched everyone else’s food come out except for mine. I was so hungry I asked the bartender about my food like 5 times and nothing. It sucks how horribly managed such a potentially good place is. The fact that the manager did not want to talk to us says a lot. We’re your customers. We make your place what it is. If we’re not happy I’m going to tell ALL my friends/​family NOT to go there cause their service sucks. I’ve never heard of a owner/​manager not wanting to handle a situation but OKAY I’ll leave it at that.
I left this place starving and mad. Horrible horrible experience. Don’t go there peeps!

Thanks to Kevin for being a great waiter. I had great Brunch on a beautiful sunday with my girlfriend. Food was delicious. Volume is medium. Overall is a great place, and relaxing.

If I can grade this 0 star I would. So went to this place two Saturdays ago… Sat at the bar, and although place was not crowded, bartender took 15min to ask for my order. When he did, he served my drink in a plastic cup, like I was in a kids birthday party smh. When it was time to order hookah? Person asked «what flavor would u like?» I respond «what flavors do you have?» She says «mint» sooo I stare at her because I’m waiting for the rest of the flavors. And that’s it. lol just mint. So I don’t know why she asked me what flavor I wanted lol. After 35min I left. Customer service is terrible. With so many places for drinks uptown, they should really step up their customer service.

This used to be one of my favorite spots, and after it closed down and reopened again their food and service has not been the same. I’m so disappointed as I used to be a huge fan!

Went for the first time this past Tuesday and was absolutely surprised I ordered the Chicken Portobello and it was delicious! The drink specials were great had a margarita, $ 5. Music and ambiance were great as well.

I came here last night for a girls night and I was not impressed.
FOOD:
I did not really eat a big meal, only a side order of sweet plantains but it was not that good. They were overcooked and not too sweet. I was disappointed. I tried some of my friends food, Ravioli, it wasn’t too bad but it was just huge Ravioli’s. Not as filling as it could be. There should be more smaller ones. Their portions are not that big.
DRINKS:
Strong but not that great. I ordered a passion fruit mojito and you could barely taste the passion fruit… the mango margaritas that my friends got seemed to be good.
SERVICE:
Slow as hell. They barely came around and barely understood the simplest requests… even in Spanish!
Overall, not too impressed. Good music.

Wings are the best in Inwood. Meaty and delish! Don’t bother with any of the flavored wings such as BBQ. Go Buffalo (Hot) or go home. They’re perfect and surprisingly amazing!
Go on Tuesday and get the 20 cent and $ 5 margaritas/​cocktails. Best place to happy hour in Inwood! The drinks are nothing to write home about per se but the deal is unbeatable. The bartenders are accommodating and friendly and will usually up the ante on the drink specials if asked nicely ie glass w/​salt rim, better tequila and more lime than mix.
Pros: Great bar, best wings in town, superb happy hour specials, plenty of waiters and bartenders for quick and friendly service, good bumping tunes and system.

A couple of friends and I headed over to Caña y Café after a rather unpleasant evening at Uptown Social (check out my review).
If you’re from uptown or know the uptown bar/​lounge scene then you are very familiar with this spot. Caña y Café is best known for their famous Tuesday happy hour. Of course, I happened to check this place out on a Tuesday (like I don’t work the next day).
PROS:
1. Drink specials are amazing for New York City. $ 5 drinks during happy hour.
2. 20 cent wings available until 4AM. Can’t beat that!
3. The DJ plays a good selection of music and keeps the party going way past 12AM.
4. There is lots of space to get your groove on and bust a move.
5. Service is quick.
6. No cover before 11PM.
CONS:
NONE!

Wish I could give a negative star. A big group of us went there after 12 am and they were charging a $ 30 cover charge for everyone (even the ladies) which is way overprice for an area that is not very appealing.
We got a bottle priced at $ 120 but once we paid for it upfront we received no service afterwards. We asked for a courtesy refill on cranberry juice and they charged us $ 10 for it. We asked for another bottle and the waitress said that the price had changed to $ 150 for the same bottle that we just bought an hour before. We refused to pay the increase and the waitress said that she would ask the manager if we can get the bottle at the same price. Ten minutes later she came over to tell us that the manager would not reduce the bottle price. What was worst is that the manager did not even have the audacity to come over and tell us.
On top of the bad customer service, the music was way too loud for such a small place. The DJ does not know how to mix music. He would jump from one class of music to another that did not even mix well together. In addition, the music would stop several times due to bad connections.
Then they had a live band which was really and I mean really bad.
So a couple of things happened that night to Cana y Café:
1) They lost about 15 paying customer because we would never go back there again.
2) The waitress lost an easy 17% tip because of the manager’s decision.
3) and finally we are writing this bad review and do not recommend this place to no one (not even someone we don’t like).

Very original great music Great vibe it was very fun and felt safe the crowd was awesome everyone having a good time playing all kinds of music place is spacious décor is uncanny very unique loved definitely a regular there every weekend Saturday nights live dj and no cover great crowd great drinks til 4am love love love!

I was skeptical at 1^st. Loved it! Edwin was great! It was a Tuesday so we ate 20cents wings, BBQ and Hawaiian were good, Diablo was really spicy but dry, get a dip! After 2 tequila sunrises you will start feeling NICE ;-) ! After 11 lights went off, PARTY. Great music mix, all genres. Going back.
I got home over my limit sheesh!

Caña y café is a good spot for a group of friends to go and hang out, have a couple of drinks and dance when the place becomes a «club».
On Wednesdays it’s karaōke night. It does not get very crowded. They have a menu of mixed drinks (try the coconut margarita if you are a fan of coconut or piña colada!!) price range is from $ 5 – 7.
On Tuesdays it’s wing night. 20cents wings with a min order of 10 and a mixed drink ($ 5 – 7 until 12).
The wings are blah but the drinks are on point not watered down. The food selection is not that serious very typical.
Hookah is $ 30. I found it really odd that people are eating and yet the table right next to you is smoking. Idk. It’s like weird when your eating and someone’s smoke is just floating around your food. Looks pretty cool but not very appetizing.
Customer service: beware!!! On Tuesday night if you get there around 8pm you will have to wait a minimum of 45min!!! Horrible! And the waiter was nice but it’s annoying when you have to call him constantly to please get another round of drinks bc we have been sitting with empty cups for a while. Bad service can kill your entire vibe!
Lastly, OMG I almost forgot to mention. At 12am when the place becomes a club on Tuesdays they will kick ur butt out the table and say that they have to take the chairs away and you have to move. Okay so what do I do with the hookah put it on top of my head? Oh no, you have to get bottle service to get your table back. Lmao. That was really upsetting. They didn’t even want to compensate aaannnddd they had unoccupied tables the entire night! Idk but by 2am or 3am it’s obvious no one is going to buy a bottle if they haven’t so maybe it’s best to start releasing tables.
In all honesty I do recommend this place. I would probably go back on a Tuesday night just remember to expect a long waiting time. And prepare to walk around with the hookah on top of your head bc you have no table. Lmao. Jk.
