I ate hear thinking, can’t go wrong with NY Pizza right? WRONG. I would rather have Pizza Hut than this place. I got the sausage calzone or sausage roll and a Stromboli and they were not good at all. The Stromboli was permanently stuck to the foil they cooked it on, so I could only pick out the insides. The sausage, which they said was Italian when I asked, was mushy and gross. I have never thrown pizza away in my life! I threw away more than half of this. As far as the service? Well it comes with attitude like you’re some kid talking to his mother in the Bronx. Customer Service? What’s that? The girl at the register acts like its a privilege to earn her service. What a horrible taste this place left in my mouth.

I come here at least once or twice a month being that(hypothetically) my college is right next door. But after several disappointing visits to this pizzeria, I will not be returning ever. What stands out is the cashiers. They are the most incompetent individuals you will encounter here. I have been here a few times and interacted with more than one of them. This place has me torn. The pizza is decent, I’ll give them that. Definitely not the best I’ve ever had, but good enough for the area. The problem with Café Amore relates more to their service, which in the hospitality industry, is the most frustrating element to fail on, because it is easily the most preventable. I say this because the cashiers hold the assumption that every customer is a crook. I’ve had several incidents where the cashier will snatch the bagged pizza out of my hand, then proceed to open the bag to check if I’m not lying resulting in my other items(wallets, backpack) falling out of my hand. I’ve been scolded a couple of times for this(I’m sorry, but there’s been times when I am literally the only customer in there, and I’m in a hurry to pay for my single slice of plain pizza, so I want to move things along by paying while it’s being heat up). When I slowly summarize my order for the cashier, every time I’ve been there, she opens the box(even if it’s taped shut), to confirm that I am not a liar. I wonder to myself, do I look like a small time pizza thief? They really obsess over this. Ironically, it’s Café Amore that usually ends up ahead in the transaction. This isn’t my go-to pizza place, it’s just a place I’ll stop if I’m really starving for pizza, and nearby.

Absolutely disgusting… ordered a Stromboli that came out cold in the middle and was stuck to the foil it was served in. Uneatable. If a lower than one star was possible this place deserves it

I liked this place for convenient work ordering and days when i did not want to spend over $ 10 for food. In the beginning the food was good a slice hit the spot and did not cost too much. The pizza is your average NY slice; the sauce is not too sweet, has ok flavor, a good amount of cheese and a bit greasy. They have other food options you can order to be made and other staples that share the pizza display like beef patties, pizza rolls, and zeppoles I no longer like this place because: 1) it is very unclear where you are supposed to order certain things. I’ve waited to order french fries on the same line you order pizza only to be told i need to order that with the cashier, only to get to the cashier and have her ask me if i told the guys my order. When the order is ready they will just place it on top of the glass counter where the hot food is displayed so you are not sure if it is your order or not because the 2 people you just ordered with never say anything. 2) the management is not so great. there is now two ladies behind the register, one who has clearly worked their for some time and one that is very new and they do not balance each other out at all! 3) the last time i ordered small french fries i was halfway through when i found a small piece of white string in the fries. Not the end of the world probably a piece from the large frozen bag they ripped open. I go up to show the 2 ladies and the veteran 1st said she didn’t see it then grabbed a fork to move some fries around. She finds it then gives me a list of things it is not like hair or tissue, then says it is probably from the fork(but i was eating with my hands). I acknowledged it was a string and it was not a huge deal i just did not want it in my food. her response was«i took it out!» uhhhh im going to need a new order. Naturally when it was made again it was just put on top of the glass display for me to guess that was my order. i will pass on them going forward.

This place is utterly disgusting. The veggie pizza had pepperoni pieces on it. There was a gross piece of ziti stuck to the side. The only reason, this place gets money, is because of the BMCC students, and the high school kids. Don’t even waste your time. Nasty. Oh… did I mention that the veggie slice(one slice) was $ 6 bucks. Shame, they call this NY pizza. Looks very tasty, until you eat it.

This place is improperly managed. I waited on a line toward the pizza counter for close to 8 minutes to order a regular pie. The male behind the counter directs with a nod of his head and said ‘order up there’. Fine. I stood on another line where most of the customers were already eating their food as the two ladies behind the register moved at a glacial pace. I did not understand why I had to order a pie from instead of the pizza counter. The pie could have been in the oven by the time I reach the register and pay for. instead I had wait to reach the register for close to 15 minutes and then i order the pie for which the lady says that it will be more than 30 minutes. I replied no thank you and complained that this is ridiculous. I will never ever go back to this café on that first impression.

Came in here today trying to hide from the rain! A pretty big pizza shop with lots of classic Italian food to offer, other than pizza. They also have ice cream. The space was very big and they had tv’s which I nice people I don’t have a tv! Lol The guys taking food orders were fast and just busy. I bet it’s all the snobby people they have to deal with that makes them seem rude, they weren’t rude to me. And I got a laugh out of the lady at the front ringing people up! It was nice because I can see she was stressed but still very polite. I’ll be coming back because she was very nice to me and my food was great! I haven’t had garlic knots in a long time. They were fresh and super garlicky which I love! I paid $ 3.20 for an order of knots and a can of Coke. Give this pizza joint a shot! Can’t wait to come back!

We were freezing and hungry so we stopped here. They had a large selection of pizzas and other items. I thought it was good and it wasn’t expensive like most of the places in NY. I had a cheese slice. We also got the baked ziti which was just ok. The bathroom was pretty gross, but at least they have one to use.

Café Amore’s NY: Manhattan: Tribeca 1pm Thursday 24th December 2015 Three Stars The neon sign proclaiming«Pizza and Steak» was too intriguing not to take a peek inside. I decided on a Scilian Square($ 3.97). The dough had a nice crust with lots of chew and bit of crunch. The stewed tomato sauce had lots of olive oil and herbs. The cheese was okay. The place is huge and probably serves a lot kids from the neighboring schools. The slice was decent. Next time a Sirloin steak?

Why so few stars, Unilocal?Y’all need to go back to Papa John’s or whatever other dumpster you’ve been eating out of. Great for a quick dinner. Service was friendly and my order was ready in less than 5 minutes. The slices are gigantic. Definitely recommend the tomato mozzarella slice(tastes so fresh and they use a good amount of sauce in addition to tomato!). The garlic knots are more bready than doughy, but you’re all set if you order some tomato sauce on the side and add garlic to that. Bonus: they have a bathroom. Is it tiny and gross? Yes, but it sure beats waiting in line at Starbucks for 10 minutes.

I had a slice of cheese pizza here and was extremely disappointed with it. The slice was huge but way too greasy, and the marinara and cheese was not fresh and there was way too much cheese and oil. I had a horrible stomach ach after eating this pizza and I decided to not even try finishing it. I’ve been to many more better pizza places in the city. NYC is famous for their pizza so don’t waste your time here.

Total ripoff. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and black olive pizza. Anyplace else, that would be $ 3.00 or &3,50 max. Here, it was $ 4.85. Almost five bucks for an everyday slice with some pepperoni and olives. And it wasn’t very good, at that.

I’m not gonna lie, the pizza is good. Nothing too special being in NYC, but good. However, two things extremely bothered me. #1. The price. $ 5 per slice. Ridiculous. #2. Misleading signs on the window. The slices are NOT brick oven. That’s not a big deal. But the other sign says free small drink with purchase of any 2 slices. Not only did I have to argue with the lady to get the soda, it was only slightly larger than a shot glass. What a joke.

Despite some bad reviews, i decided to give this place a try. The calamari pasta was delicious! I messed up my order and called about 10 mins after i realized and they gladly fixed it. It was very filling and delicious

Their fresh mozzarella square slices. Unsure why there’s so many bad reviews. This place is one of the best places to eat in the area. God knows their isn’t many options available downtown.

This pizza was a’ight! It had good crust and the cheese was good. It was a little greasy, but nothing a little napkin couldn’t take care of. Overall it had a good flavor but it was light. They didn’t have Parmesan to put on the pizza, which was disappointing. The guy taking the order was rude af.

I am sometimes in the Tribeca area for business. I’m in tech, which sometimes means keeping odd hours. There aren’t too many options for quick, affordable and yummy in the area after 9:30pm. This is one. This last trip I was actually able to pop in during the daytime hours, just before the dinner rush. But I wasn’t up for sitdown alone in the area, and just needed to fill the hole in the stomach. Once again, this place delivered the goods. I’m likely to pop by again at a need.

It’s not the worst pizza I’ve had, but it isn’t good either. The cheese has that tell tale splotchy look and is sort of coagulated even after being heated up. The sauce is bland. The thing is, the smells that come from this place are amaaaazing. I don’t get it, what on earth smells so good? The layout is odd, the signs telling you to pay for your food only if you have your pizza in your hand are odd. The people who work there look sullen. I had one cashier who was really sweet– but still seemed sort of down about her day. I’m guessing it’s not the greatest place to work.

Have stopped in here recently, probably make this mistake 1−2x a year when kids are hungry and we happen to be outside. Pizza seems like its been sitting out a long time, with cheap coagulated opaque cheese. Pasta is horrible, soaking in water, with rotten sauce. Whats with the staff there, they’re sullen faces seem to let you know they know what they are selling is horrible. Kids from BMCC and Stuyvesant who wouldn’t know a good slice if it hit them in the face are the only reason this place is open.

I stopped by here with my boyfriend for a quick bite before drowning ourselves with homework at Barnes & Noble. Pretty big for a pizzeria, spacious, and has seating Bathroom was disgusting. There’s a sign outside that says if you buy two slices you get a free 12 oz soda, so why not? My boyfriend got two regular slices and I got 2 mushroom slices. The slices of pizza was huge. Honestly, I didn’t really enjoy my mushroom slices very much. I know canned mushrooms are suppose to be slightly tart, but mine didn’t taste appealing at all. They were a little too tart. I didn’t think the quality of the pizza here was bad, but it wasn’t great either. I think I would only come here if I am in the area and needed a quick bite.
