Had the Tuscan sandwich for $ 7. The sandwich tasted great and the staff were very friendly. Definitely worth stopping in!

I always go to Café 27. They have great sandwiches, great salad bar, great smoothies and juices. Best coffee in the area. Very reasonable price. The Employees are very nice and friendly. Great service.

They know how to make compact, great sandwiches, and a wide range smoothies and juices. I love that everything can be personalised and there is room to add extra ingredients in my sandwiches and juices. The employees are always super nice and have fast service. Also, you can find mostly everything you may want to eat for lunch or breakfast.

Created my own salad, and it was aaawful. Lettuce was far from fresh; some of the chicken was OK, most of it was bad. Avocado and onions were good. They hardly put any bacon in there. The container the salad came in was greasy and it smelled really strongly of EGGS – I did not order eggs – , which made me wonder if this person even washed their hands before touching my food. I’m never even buying bottled water from this place in my LIFE… yikes! Despite my disappointment, I don’t write this review with anger; so I am not exaggerating. Do not waste your time and money here, honestly.(At least not on salad.)

Why must this place be so stubbornly cheap about the most meager things ? I give a great deal of toleration to this Manhattan deli because I wish beyond what it really is, which is that it would be financially worthy and cozy. It could be so cozy, I obstinately vouch for good feng-shui(the way the view looks, the positioning of chairs, …some things I’m just fastidious about). However, what makes me guffaw is the fact that they have the guts to give less effort to preparing food AND charge slightly more than the much more popular deli down the block(which has greater variety and efficiency). They overcharge on salad and even take the opportunity to skimp on filling the container. Their system of charging salad is complicated and preposterous. A small is $ 2.95, a large is $ 3.95(just lettuce) and then each topping ranges from 50 cents to $ 1.50, and they’re all greatly dispersed. It’s mind-boggling. I once paid $ 7 for a «small» container of salad with just three toppings and they didn’t even fill up the entire container. I think they fired a cook one day and just had the amateur cashier make it. The salad was awful. They put an inadequate amount of dressing, skimped on chicken and the end-product was like a dress falling apart at the seems. How does a place not know how to make salad? I used to come here regularly. (Just know I’m judging mainly on that, I eat salad constantly.) Perhaps it was once good, but their quality and effort keeps declining. They charge $ 3.50 on a small container of soup, and they skimp on the content.

This place will always have a spot in my heart. Been going for years, even before I was officially at FIT, and I just took some high school classes there. Pretty sure every FIT student has had their fair share of time spent in this café. The owners will remember you, and your order after going in just once. They are pretty fast. Even though the line can be out the door during weekday lunch hours. Good sandwiches, and fresh coffee(very important for FITers).

I’ve been ordering lunch from here for the last couple of days and have been really satisfied. I just get a turkey sandwich, but you’d be surprised just how hard it apparently is to do a turkey sandwich right. Café 27 has the perfectly toasted bread, just the right amount of mayo, and veggies sliced at the perfect thinness. Additionally, I’ve had about all of their soups and they’re all really good. For a soup and simple sandwich at less than $ 10, you cant go wrong here.

I have been coming here on and off for several years, but I feel it’s more expensive than other options in the neighborhood and their portions are getting smaller. A few times, I went in for breakfast, but they really aren’t set up for it, as they were running back and forth to prepare it. The food is fine. I would recommend the chicken curry wrap and their small selection of British chocolate bars.

Had a really great veggie burger here. It was made of oats I think. The sandwich was perfectly toasted, with cucumbers(wish they were flat instead of chunks falling out) but it was really really good and they have yellow mustard, finally a place that has yellow mustard. Also had a Fiji water and Stonybrook(?) blueberry yogurt… all my faves! The guy was really nice behind the counter and they brought my food to my table. Love that it feels out of the way, and kinda relaxed like your own kichen. Maybe it was because they have those mini boxes of cereal all over the place. But it made sense there, tons of fresh fruit and veggies all behind a very big counter where you can see everything. It seemed very health conscious but not organic and the eating area was really nice to sit it. Comfortable chairs, kind of big space just perfect… felt like the type of place you could talk to others or be left alone. Thought this is the perfect spot for either. I would have given it 5 stars if I didn’t see the guy sweeping & mopping the floors in front of me while I was eating. It made my stomach turn to see all the hair and crumbs, the smell of bleach site of a dirty mop. But I will definitely be going back… just hope he’s not cleaning again when I’m there.

Yummy! I think this place has now become my favorite café in the Fashion District. You wouldn’t think it based on the smallish counter space, dinky seating, oversized take-out menu, and the chalkboard menu on the wall, but these guys really know what they’re doing. I fell in love with the fresh mozzarella and tomato sandwich(#15 on the menu) personally, but everything else looks just as good. They also have really awesome options for the diet-conscious and vegans out there. Oh — and they use fat-free frozen yogurt and skim milk for their smoothies! Score! It gets a little busy at lunchtime, but not insane and crazy like Café 28 or Guy & Gallard. When it’s NOT busy however, I believe they have waiter service, which is kinda cool. They also deliver, and even do catering. [For those wondering, the reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the small & cramped space by the counter, which leads to a bit of unintentional mobbing and people ordering without getting in line properly. The food itself would be 5 stars.] Definitely worth a stop, at the very least to pick up a delivery menu. :)

For lunch today, I ordered a BLT on toasted wheat with mayo, an Orangina, and a chocolate chip cookie. A guy at the café called to say they were out of Orangina, so I replaced it with an apple juice. I was disappointed because I really wanted an Orangina. When the food arrived, lo and behold, there was an Orangina! I was so psyched. The sandwich was OK. They didn’t really toast the bread very well, and all the fixings seemed to have slid to one side. The potato chips were great. I just love Utz potato chips. And the Orangina was excellent. I haven’t eaten the cookie yet, but it was made by Zaro’s Bakery – – in the Bronx. I’d order from here again. Decent deli fare.
