Over priced, crowded and the people who work at the register or helping you in the aisles are not super friendly. Feel like I’m imposing on them. The guys outside by the flowers/fruit are really nice. We need a grocery store desperately in this area.

My husband and I visit here frequently but I will go out of my way not to shop here. My husband purchased some items with cash. As he was walking out the door, he realized he was short changed. He immediately went back to the cashier and she wouldn’t give him the difference. It was only 2 dollars and I get it, he could be lying. However, like I said, we are there a lot. He even emptied his pockets for her but still no dice. She took his information and told him when she counted her drawer at the end of her shift, she would call him if she was over. He told her she could short change or give back too much money to someone else so that doesn’t make any sense. He never heard from the cashier. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. I even thought about him going to the manager but after reading someone else’s review, I’m glad he didn’t. He doesn’t sound very helpful either. The moral is to count your change before you walk away from the cashier!

Super overpriced. I have often found expired food– make sure to check labels/dates Yogurts sold individually… even though the packaging clearly states it cannot be sold individually. They must buy in bilk and sell separately for higher price. I wouldn’t buy fish, meat, milk or sushi here… very bad idea Employees are wonderful though!

I bought three lbs of peaches and nectarines and two days later, when I was slicing them for fruit salad, they ALL were rotten. The outsides were lovely but the insides… disgusting…inedible! I rebagged them and brought them to the manager who called me a liar, accused me of buying them elsewhere, showed me a label that didn’t match the decaying peach b/c it was from a nectarine and then took the bag and threw it away. I retrieved the bag, trying to have a dialogue when he removed a knife from his pocket, selected a peach, cut it in half and thrust it at my face… EATIT he said. That’s all you get!(BTW, the inside of the peach was somewhat brown!) To make a long story short, I decided to stand my ground and finally he gave me a store credit which I used immediately. I didn’t trust it would be honored in five minutes. Let me add… the cashiers were silently giving me encouragement to continue to assert myself… from a covert thumbs up to a subtle smile. I can only imagine what it must be like to work for this rudely primitive man. And as for Broadway Farms… its dirty floors, malodorous fish department and overpriced stock, I will certainly never go there again. And a word to the manager… you eat it.

This place is not nearly nice enough for the prices they charge. You’ll do much better at Zabars or just have fresh direct deliver.

Very over-priced, even for this neighborhood. And I would never purchase the produce or meet. There is, however, something to be said for having somewhere close for quick non-perishables! It works for what it is, and is easier than going to the dungeon(aka gristedes basement on 86) or the zoo(Trader joes on 72). PS. The carrot cake is not worth $ 4 per slice… At any hour of the day.

I’m just waiting for this dilapidated, ridiculously overpriced grocery store to close. I don’t know how this place still exists in 2015. I only shop here as an absolute last resort, and to be honest, this neighborhood doesn’t have many grocery options, so on many occasions I’ve had to walk 10 blocks to fairway to pick up just a few basic items in order to avoid being ripped off at broadway farm. The produce can literally be double the price versus the produce stands on the corners. Why people support this business is a mystery to me.

Traditional health and safety standards are certainly not observed in the fish market. No hand washing and coughing on the fish … I have seen it a few times. Gross.

Yes, Broadway Farm is pricey, but jeez, what are the options? The near-by Gristede’s is totally sub-par. BF has really nice fresh produce and a wide array of provisions. I would go to Barzini’s for cheese. BF’s cheeses are kind of pathetic.

Workable as a neighborhood supermarket, better than Gristedes at least. Not really adequate to be your«one stop» grocery store, but they have good produce and prepared food, and at least a useful minimum of other stuff. People comment that it’s overpriced… I haven’t found it to be any more expensive than any other grocery store in the area. It’s the UWS. Everything is over priced.

Convienient, but kind of overpriced. They have a good variety of fruit but I’m not sure its the most fresh, but still decent if you need to pick something up that you forgot(or can’t get at trader joe’s :D). Frozen section is kind of lacking.

Three stars for convenience, and a decent selection for the size of the store. However, the items itself are fairly expensive. I usually only get one or two items, just for this reason.

Good selection of the obvious and sometimes unusual produce. Simple bakery with great seeded ryes that are sliced on the spot. Plentiful sundries and canned goods. The fish dept is an eye-sore — poor Bob, the fish salesman — has to look at that horrible neon, white paint all day. When you walk in, poor yourself a coffee and wander around. Great for the UWS local.

My biggest grief with this store is the complete nonsense in the way things are organized. Lemons inside. Lemons outside. Bread in the back. Tortillas in the front. Milk in the back with orange juice at times square. wtf? But they carry some great breads and the workers are always eager to help.

This store is definitely overpriced, but they do have good quality stuff. They also have an extensive selection of dry goods in the back, which I actually didn’t realize until about my 3rd visit here. I can’t say I stop by a lot, but on occasion I do pass by and grab some fruit and veg if it’s on sale. In my opinion though, you’re better off getting your produce from Fairway and your specialty stuff from Zabar’s.

Like another reviewer said, overpriced. It is great to go to if you need something way late at night or early in the am as it is open 24hours. What I do enjoy of this store are the $ 1 special packages of fruits/veggies that can be worth it. But quality is another question. You get $ 1 quality for the pack. It looks like you would have to cook, eat, use these items the same day. In my opinion walk the blocks south and do your grocery shopping at the other markets where the prices match the quality of produce.

Welp. it’s a grocery store. I guess. The fish section has a very scary smell to it most of time. I thought it was just extra fishy, but a gross piece of salmon for dinner that night proved me wrong. They have an OK produce selection… but for any basics I need, I go to the guy with the fruit and veg cart across the street. He is always there and charges far less(obviously). As other people are pointing out, they’re overpriced. Not just overpriced for NYC, but seriously way too expensive. And yes, the staff are extremely unhelpful. I only ever stop by here if it’s late(they’re open 24 hours) and I urgently need something basic. Otherwise, I hoof it to the Fairway on 74th and spend about half the price on better quality items.

Thankful for: Open 24 hours, 7 days a week Close proximity to my apartment Dislike: Quality of produce «Fresh» meat/seafood isn’t fresh and isn’t very good More expensive than Met Foods, Grosstede’s and Whole Foods Lower your expectations before coming here… but go here before Grosstede’s or Met… or just suck it up and make the trip down to Fairway.
