I am a huge fan of BRICK! I’ve been to their Chelsea location prior to this visit and although it was a much different experience(outdoor training), my experience at this one was just as great, if not even better. This location is much bigger than the Chelsea location – wonderful and new facilities, and they seem to have a lot more rooms for different classes. Similar to the reviewer before me, I also took their B|X class at both locations and I prefer the workout at this location a lot more. The B|X was a little bit of everything and unlike the workout in Chelsea, where there isn’t as much equipment and where I was constantly just working with a kettlebell, you have a variety at different stations(rowing, TrueForm Runner treadmill, kettlebells) here. There’s also a lot more people at this location, probably due to being in the heart of Midtown. I enjoyed the running a lot, although that was probably the hardest, but has drastically improved my running form – your knees are supposed to be lifted much more higher than you think. The only problem I had was that the class might’ve been slightly overbooked and it got to the point where some people would have to wait for others to finish their exercises quickly because we were working out on limited space, so it slowed down productivity. The instructors were such great guys and really tried to make teamwork as prevalent as possible.

Brick New York’s newest location, Brick Grand Central, is a beautiful, spacious, and modern facility offering several variations of fitness classes. Seemingly small from the outside, you could easily walk right by it. As you walk in, disregard the unmanned«Caveman Coffee» and head down the stairs for the check in desk and fitness rooms, of which there are three. I experienced my first class, a B|X class as it’s known, just a few days ago. While Brick is known as a CrossFit studio, it offers much more than just CrossFit classes. In fact, if you aren’t a CrossFit person, you should still consider the B|X classes as they focus on high intensity circuits that may include some high-rep weight training, running on a TrueForm treadmill(self-powered), rowing, and ab work. Although not in my class, there were spinning bikes as well, so I’m sure there are variations of the class so you’ll never grow tired. I can only speak to the B|X classes as I’ve yet to try any others. They provide full unisex locker rooms(note: lockers are VERY small, and be sure to bring your own lock) with most of the amenities you could ask for. They provide towels as well, but you have to request them from the front desk. They are missing mouthwash… but I could overlook that ;) . The staff and coaches there that I’ve encountered were super cool and very knowledgeable and friendly. They are more than happy to help and personalize your workout based on your fitness and experience level. For the B|X class I took, we had Osi(not sure if that is spelled right). She was inspirational and energetic throughout the entire class and pushed all of us individually and as a group. Overall, it was an awesome experience and I can’t wait for my next class !
