Flawless!
We must have framed 9 or 10 pieces with Brentano’s over the last 18 months. Every frame has been perfect, flawless, and of the highest quality. Joseph Brentano has an incredible eye and I highly recommend you seek his advice, as the results have all been absolutely beautiful, every time bringing out the best qualities of the piece. Really great framing like his can be transformative. That said, he’s also able to work in the most exacting way from gallery specs or your own ideas too for situations where you have a clear vision of what you want.

Joseph Brentano really knows what he is doing. I brought a beautiful piece of art and he took it to the next level. I looked at all the different framing places in Nyc and I couldn’t get a sense if the work done was actually going to be good. Don’t waste your time talking to other framers and go to Brentano’s.

I’ve been going to Joe for a few years. It started with a few drawings for my apartment and it grew to having him frame all my works for a group show. I’m often unsure of what I’m looking for but trust his recommendations. He has a wonderful eye and knows what works best for the pieces I bring for him to frame. Brentano’s never disappoints.
Joe is a very down to earth person to work with and he knows his stuff. You’ll love him after your first consult. He’s definitely a framer for life.

I am the pickiest, most detail-​oriented New Yorker you will ever meet. Because of this, I have been going to Brentano’s for more than a decade now, and wouldn’t even consider any other frame shop in new york city. You bring your art there and leave wondering who the true artist is – Joseph is meticulous, creative, and down-​to-​earth and you simply won’t get better work done anywhere. (I’m not a big Unilocal person, but was just there today to frame a new piece, and felt compelled to remember my login just to write this review).

go here. joseph is a knowledgeable guy who will walk you through all the options and articulate why something is or isn’t a good idea. prices are really reasonable, and less than many other bs frame stores you see floating around. and the quality of work was an a+. another key about the experience for me was that joseph is a cool guy. you feel comfortable and reassured during the process. he has tattoos and a rolex so he’s the type with an eye for both street art and first class stuff. would absolutely go back.

My company needed to have a plaque made for a painting in our office. I found Brentano’s on Unilocal and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the final product. We needed the plaque to closely match another plaque attached to an adjacent painting, and they did an amazing job attending to the details (typography, etc) that needed to be reproduced. John was very friendly and made the process painless. And on top of all that, the price was very reasonable. Recommended.

I agree with the previous reviewers that it is strange to write a review for a framing store, but Brentano’s is amazing. We have been dealing with Joseph for years and everything we bring to him turns out amazing. He is amazingly nice, has this incredible eye and seems to understand my husband and my taste every time. Each piece turns out beautifully and we have never had a problem with any of the framing (unlike other places where the pieces slip in the frames.) Yes, it is expensive, but it makes such a difference with each piece — the framing is a work of art.

I never pictured myself writing a review for a framing shop but my experiences at Brentano’s have been far too amazing to keep to myself. Most recently, my girlfriend and I went into the shop to have menus we’ve been saving for a couple of years framed as art for our kitchen. Watching Joseph was like watching an artist at work. He asked us about each restaurant so he would understand its background and what it meant to us and what he produced was inspired. Each menu is framed in a completely unique way that brings out the spirit of that place… some are funky, others more traditional… but all look great together.
If you have any framing needs, this is the place to go. It will exceed even your greatest expectations.
