It’s a shame this place closed. The coffee was great, the pastries were great, the staff was great. Why did they go?

Buy any of their«gluten free» or «paleo» baked items at your own risk … I was told they are strict paleo and made of almond flour only. I got the walnut banana muffin and within 1 hour I had an allergic reaction. I called the place to find out what the ingredients are, they couldn’t tell me, so I asked they call the bakery and I’d call them back in 30 minutes. When I called back I was told«uh sorry I’ve been so busy making coffees I haven’t had time to check»(??) I asked for the phone number of the bakery, was given their other ships;s number. Same story there«I don’t know what’s in them», «Can I please speak to your baker?» «oh, the baker has left … maybe I can call them and call you back«… Particularly if you have any kind of food sensitivities stay away from their baked goods. These are obviously not«clean food» and the staff have no idea of the ingredients, and are unable to find out. It’s not the money, it’s the health concern. And the lack of concern from these ppl. Horrible all around.

I was walking west on E. Houston and this coffee shop caught me eye. There’s a really warm and inviting atmosphere in this place. Tiny, with just enough seating to make you feel comfortable. This is the type of place you want to sit in on a Sunday morning to catch up with a friend. The baristas were both really nice and made an excellent latte(shout out to the New Zealand guys!) I’ll definitely be back!

My friend and I stopped by for quick iced americanos. The coffee was delicious and the staff perfect. The intellectual ambiance attracted us, and it was perfect for a quick rest and nice conversation. I could see writing poems here. No bathroom, nevertheless, it would have ruined the atmosphere.

I could have totally missed this spot if my friend hadn’t been here first. When you step in, you get a lax vibe with a few tables and chairs and simple menu at the front. Iced coffee with a hint of milk and sugar will do the trick — you can really taste the great coffee flavor without the extra flavors that would usually bury it. My friend got the jasmine iced tea and a glazed doughnut, which is from Doughnut plant. It was a perfect way to wind down the weekend.

Best coffee I’ve ever had. I should have known when they had flat whites on the board and the barista was kiwi.

Their coffee and snacks are great, but when I went in today, I saw the barista(an obviously senior employee) treat the cashier(an obviously less senior employee) like absolute garbage. He was yelling at her in front of the entire store and it was really uncomfortable and terrible. Dude, you are allowed to be angry at co-workers/employees, but everyone deserves a little dignity. If I was a better person I would have piped up then instead of commenting on the Internet, but yet here we are.

Dear Bowery Coffee, I have tried at least 3 dozen coffee shops from 34th St and below, and you are by far my favorite one. Even though you only make cappuccinos in one size, I love you the most still. Your baristas are skilled, pleasantly mannered people who are always friendly without being annoying. What, there is a 10 dollar minimum for charge? That’s OK, I’ll take your cashier up on the offer to load a gift card and subtract my coffee from there. This just means I have paid for my future coffee a few hours early. Because you are on my way to work and then on my way home, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to stop anywhere else for my java fix. Skill in coffee roasting is no laughing matter, unless you are giddy from the perfection found here.

The Soho area is somewhat loaded with coffee houses, but Bowery seems to have a chill, hipster factor that I am sure appeal to many residents or working professionals in that neighborhood. Who doesn’t love the presence of hipster coffee in LES? The gated entrance and steel counter-tops are signatures along with an awesome espresso. While I do not think it warrants one to go out of his/her way to visit Bowery Coffee, but it is definitely on the top of the list if you are anywhere within a ten block radius.

I used to come here for a weekly latte for over two years. They had this one dude from Australia come and train the staff on how to make the most amazing lattes. Since he went back, the quality has kind of suffered and it’s just your usual coffee place now with so-so lattes at best. Nothing special. What’s special now are the gluten-free chocolate cupcakes and their doughnuts sourced from Doughnut Planet. I’ve tried every single doughnut flavor on their shelf and dulce de leche and carrot are my favorites! P. S. If the owner/manager ever happens to read this… It’s always too hot and muggy in there for some reason!

We passed by this coffee shop on our walk in the snow and cold and decided we needed some warm drinks. The store is very small — 3 tables and a counter top that fits a few people, though right near the door. Barista was fine — got our hot cocoa and tea in about a minute. Prices weren’t super cheap, but the place was cute. My earl grey tea was pretty tasty — boyfriend said his hot cocoa was«ok, had better.» I would probably not seek out to go to this specific coffee shop again, but it served its purpose for warming us up.

Cute little coffee place as we were walking around east village. A friend and I got cappuccinos which were done perfectly! Aromatic and even came with a foam heart design. Baristas were quick and service with a smile. Definitely a cute little place with organic coffee from local growers in NY. Only downside: About 8−10places to seat. Really tiny place so I’d prob grab to go unless you’re lucky to get a seat :)

So, I actually happened upon this place while I was giving my dad a mini tour of the East Village on his last visit down here. We were taking a trip specifically to Katz’s Delicatessen, which I had told him stories about but we had never gone to. So, while I was going on and on about my misspent youth hanging out at the Cake Shop or my recent visit to the Sunshine Cinema, we walked by this place on the way back. And I really wanted coffee. This place is actually worth making a special trip for. We happened upon it when I think no one was there or people were just about to leave. So we had that on it. It did get crowded on the way out, and it was definitely less fun when that happened. But if no one is inside when you are walking by? Jump on in. I think we just got regular coffees and we were pretty much good to go caffeine-wise for the next day and a half. It’s strong, if you like that sort of thing. The people who worked here was also super fast and nice. They looked like Brooklyn hipster refugees, but what else do you expect from an LES coffee shop? With my favorite place closing in Chelsea around the corner from the LGBT Center, this is my new favorite fancy coffee spot in the city.

Great coffee. I always have only espresso or americano so I can’t vouch for lattes, cappuccinos and that sort of stuff but they brew one of my favorite espressos in all of New York City! The shop is small but super cool.

Nice Coffee. Kind baristas. Love to get coffee here on my way to work. But may be not so convenient for to-stays, since there are only 2 tables indoor.

This place is pretty awesome. First off, this place is very hipster. It’s so hipster that one may find yourself sitting in there talking about philosophy and wanting leather joggy pants. Believe me, I know from experience. The coffee, awesome. I usually go with the mocha and it does not disappoint. It is pretty sweet, so beware if you’re not into that type of thing(I don’t know who wouldn’t be, but hey there are some crazy people out there). Please do yourself a favor and get a doughnut. Any doughnut will do. You will not regret it. The doughnuts are from doughnut plant and holy crap are they good. I have never been to the doughnut plant itself but based off how these doughnuts taste, I imagine that there are little magician elves working there and it is the happiest place on earth. If you can’t decide on which of the doughnuts to order, try out the PB&J, coconut, or tres leches. Instructions on how to drink/eat here: 1) Buy Coffee(mocha, no doubt) 2) Buy Doughnut(see above for which kinds) 3) Tear a part of the doughnut apart from the rest of the doughnut. 4) Dip teared off piece of doughnut into the coffee. 5) Keep doughnut slightly emerged in coffee for 3 – 5 second. 6) Eat dipped doughnut. 7) Repeat until doughnut is gone and you’re debating on buying your second doughnut. If you follow these instructions exactly, you will be back for more.

I’ve wanted to check out this place since it first opened but only got a chance recently when I was on my way to Sunshine Theater. The place is tiny so I imagine it gets crowded during the day but if you stop by late afternoon it’s a nice little spot to hang out or meet a friend. Their coffee is excellent. I had a cortado and was very happy with it. They keep Balthazar pastries and if I’m not mistaken, Doughnut Plant donuts but those sell out before the day is over. I will definitely be back!

Great coffee shop in SOHO. Not a place to sit and read for a long time, or work, or hang with friends though. It is a great place to get a cup of your favorite coffee beverage o go, or to stand at the bar and drop a shot of their awesome espresso. Staff was friendly and the décor was pretty cute, yet minimal. Price was pretty reasonable. Easy walk from the Bowery Hotel where we stayed.

GAH, I was going to meet my friends for lunch and I was running late so I took a cab. While we were driving on Houston, I spot this coffee place and it looks mad cute so I text them that we’re going to come here after lunch! Coincidentally, it was one of the coffee places my friend wanted to visit, so it all worked out. The inside is so cute. Outdoors, you only see a door and can’t see much of the inside, but it’s really nice when you get in. There’s a window so it brings in a lot of sunlight, and the waitstaff is super friendly and patient. We brought in some small cakes for one of my friend’s birthday, and the people there looked over and wished us a happy birthday and provided us some utensils. Oh their drinks. Iced latte is goooood. One of the best I’ve had in a while. It’s not too too far from campus so I’d definitely come again if I have some free time. Yay, I like!

Rustic Interior, Chill and Cozy Vibe, and Small with Limited Seating Areas Accidentally passed by this place and stepped in to get Iced Americano on my way down to Lower East Side. Barista guy was kinda hipster looking and was pretty laid back though not the type of barista you’ll encounter at a coffeeshop in Williamsburg where you will chit chat with for a while during your coffee purchase. Iced Americano was good though it came out half empty so I asked for more water and the barista did pour more water onto it. Not a bad tasting coffee but wasn’t too strong. No restrooms, Yikes~ I know it’s hard to maintain the restrooms clean but at least let the customers who makes a purchase use the restroom(I’m sure you have one) Also, No WiFi… for ANY New Yorker that is always on-the-go like myself. this is a MUST!!! So, please do consider it.
