If you’re a contemporary art collector, you would probably find this review a bit pointless. You may not even know what Unilocal is! But if you’re thinking of becoming a collector, you’re a fine arts/art history student or graduate, or simply wish to view contemporary works of art in a superb setting, this is one of the most outstanding galleries in New York. A few of the one-person exhibitions I have seen here: Eric Fischl, Hilary Harkness, Peter Halley, Marc Quinn, Chie Fueki, Ross Bleckner, Andy Collins, Sherrie Levine. The selection of works, interior architecture, space, lighting, arrangement of works, press release and checklist of this somewhat tiny gallery continue setting it apart from most galleries in New York, in one way or another – I’m not sure exactly how. As Mies and others have said, «God is in the details.»
