this is a café-like grab & go place in a religious bookstore hidden by scaffold and construction on 2nd ave. i wasn’t expecting much but this place wooed my tastebuds. i have been going here for about two weeks and their quality is always consistent, the people at the counter are friendly and the service is quick! great for when you only have a little time and want something that’s ready to pick up and eat. but it’s not the nasty 7 – 11 like grab and go. these are beautifully wrapped, wonderfully made, fresh and maybe even healthy! i have tried the prosciutto and mozzarella which is delicious and salty with a sweet garnish that i can’t put my finger on. they also have an amazing chicken salad with a twist. first off the twist isn’t just the chicken salad– which is made fresh like my mom used to do it. chunks of whole chicken with celery instead of mashed up flavourless deli style chicken salad which always looks like lumpy mashed potatoes to me. the chicken salad is AMAZING, but the twist is the bread that it’s on– a raisin nut bread. this sandwich is my new addiction– it’s perfect. now my new found love for the bimmys chicken salad led me to try their mini sandwiches which come two to a case. i tried the ham & brie on pretzel bread with a chicken salad on an onion roll. i devoured both of these. the ham and brie is sweet and salty and the creamy brie wraps your tongue and the pretzel bread just tops it off! it’s delicious. the chicken salad mini is also amazing. the onion bread is a perfect complement to the chicken salad. although that’s not surprising. i can but this chicken salad on anything and it would taste good!
