I visited Bhatti with my family to celebrate my brother’s b’day. I was really exasperated and disappointed by the end of it. I don’t think we’ll visit this place again. There are plenty of better options on the same avenue. Positives: BYOB, decent appetizers. Negatives: long wait, cramped space, small portions, really expensive, below-standard vegetarian spread(ordered a sabzi panchmel, that looked more like onion panchmel)

This place is right next to my college and honestly I love going here for lunch. I love how they serve each table individually with all the special items they offer for buffet. Their kababs are extremely delicious, and so is the lemon rice. The environment of this restaurant is very nice and chill. Amazing food for a very little money. Will definitely come back here again.

We r coming here with bug gang from last 3 years, we love the food and athe atmosphere. Hussain is awesome!!. Howver today we had a real bad exp with server named Omar, who couldnt even answer our questions. Plus he raised his voice and was rude. You dont expect this from a really nice place, which we love. Nothing personal howver he spoiled our evening. As a coutsey he didn’t even say sorry and threatened to call cops. I am so surprised, how come u hired a unprofessional employee. I care for this place and thankyou for great food, but plz talk to him and make sure it doesnt happen to other customers. Thanks

I wasn’t expecting much from this little indian restaurant in Curry Hill, but was extremely blown away by the end of my experience. The man who helped us seemed like the owner and he gave us the best recommendations. What to order and how much to order. We thought we would start with some naan but, he recommended saving the naan to eat with our meal. He was always coming by making sure we were happy with the recommendations he made. Offering us something else if we didn’t like what he had recommended. That was not an issue because we loved everything he told us to get. We got the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Chicken Korma, and the Chicken Xacuti. And all three were out of this world. The wait staff always made sure our waters were full and were very attentive. To top it all off this place was BYOB!!! I am no expert on Indian food, but I know that everything tasted great and I walked away extremely satisfied with my meal! I will definitely be back and can’t wait to bring friends here.

Love this spot! I came here after watching the Hundred-Foot Journey. I was craving Indian food so badly. The garlic naan is to die for. I got the Chana Masala and it was delicious. Everything they have to offer is fantastic. There are so many Indian places in NY, but this stood out for me for sure. The interior isn’t anything amazing but it’s pretty nice. Great place for dinner for sure.

Came here on a weekday for dinner with a friend. This was apparently rated the 4th best restaurants in indian town… so we chose here to eat. Ambience is quiet and peaceful. It is a romantic setting I would say… We had Aloo Dum($ 12.95) and Chicken Xacuti($ 13.95)with some naan and rice. Dishes do not come with rice nor naan but they are very affordable($ 3ish) One order of rice is definitely enough for 2 people so if you’re allergic to wheat then you’re ok with some rice if you’re only 2 people. Aloo Dum was creamy and tasted very good… Chicken Xacuti was spicy, flavorful and grill-y. if you know what I mean. Both were good and we had some left over so the portion is good. I had some dessert — Ras Malai– rice putting texture with coconut sauce. OMG I knew I love this dessert but it was SOGOOD. It looked small but enough for 2 people and reasonably priced($ 5) I recommend their dessert! Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

One of my favorite lunch spots in Flatiron! It is always busy during lunch time, so make sure to show up a little before noon to beat the lunch time crowd. Since there is a lot of people, the service is a bit slow at times. I always do the non-vegetarian buffet, which you get the most bang for you buck for $ 11.99 all you can eat. They bring you about 10 dishes including naan. There is usually tandoori chicken, a chicken Marsala, and lamb dish for the meats. The veggie dishes are the spinach, eggplant, beans, paneer(cheese), and some other rotation of veggies. I usually get two or three rounds of the meats and am more than stuffed. The naan is so delicious! I definitely recommend this place for good Indian food. But beware of major food coma!

Very disappointed with the service and no salt in food! Me and my friends(7ppl) went on Sunday ale-crate lunch. Ordered chicken kadai masala, mixed grill platter. I have give it at least for the tenderness of the chicken– well cooked. But I felt the quantity is less for the price they charge. Firstly, very less salt in chicken kadai masala. When I asked for salt to the main server, he did not even bother to give salt! I could not even get hold of him after he took the orders and served food. He did not even care to ask us how the food was or do we need anything else! I understand that was a busy day, we can adjust for once but not every time. What is the purpose of having a designated server to a table if we end up in asking other servers every time?!! Second, the malai kofta that my friend ordered also had less salt too! And the bindi masala had more salt! I guess the cook needs some extra hand when it comes to salt! My bad to choose this place when there are so many good restaurants on Lexington Ave!

I’ve been here twice with a bunch of friends and both times its been simply amazing. I think I can speak for my friends as well. We made reservations for a Friday evening — highly recommend doing that. We also came on a Saturday afternoon — was totally dead. As far as my 5 star rating, it really pertains to our experience ordering several meat appetizers — I cannot remember all the specific dishes but all were excellent. We had a mix of kabobs, chicken and lamb along with onion and garlic naan. Again, we did not order entrees but opted to just share a bunch of starters… works well for us. We found the service very good. The price and value is excellent too. I will be back… likely stick to this plan of attack. Why deviate from something that works well? And yes. It’s byob. #awesome.

It is with great sadness that I update my review for Bhatti… this particular review is for our dinner delivery via Seamless. In short, the food was unbelievably disappointing. Our main issue was that portion sizes were literally half the size of what we had in the restaurant, at the same price. This was the case with the chicken, the Banarsi chaat, and the daal. The rice portion was fine(but was completely different from what we had in the restaurant taste-wise, and not in a good way). I’d like to add that the Banarsi chaat, which I was VERY much looking forward to after having it in the restaurant a few nights ago was absolutely inedible. The aloo tikki was as hard as a rock, the accompanying chickpeas were flavorless, and the portion size was laughable. The restaurant was nice enough to send a replacement after we called, and it was much better taste-wise, but the quantity was still very disappointing. So I guess the fabulousness of Bhatti is only available at the actual restaurant. We’ll obviously never order for delivery again.

Indian food and I have a pretty shaky history together. As a lover of spice, I can’t deny that the aroma and flavors have tempted me from time to time, but more often than not, the dishes I’ve tried fail to stand out. Nonetheless, when a friend of mine declared that he was craving Indian food, the cuisine for our group of five was essentially decided. A little bit of searching on Unilocal, and Bhatti Indian Grill was one of the best contestants, given its convenient location(in the well-known area deemed«Curry Hill) and the fact that they accepted OpenTable reservations. The space is deceptively small, and tables and chairs are squeezed together. The set up also makes for a noisy atmosphere, especially if all other seats are filled with guests, as they were the night that we visited. Nonetheless, our group decided on five dishes for the table to share, which were brought out together in due time. Of the dishes, I’d recommend the Khatte Baigan, which consisted of stir-fried eggplant stewed in a lightly spiced onion-tomato masala, as well as the Paneer Tikka Masala, a crowd-pleasing dish of paneer(cubes of cottage cheese) cooked in a creamy tomato curry. Both dishes were flavorful and well-seasoned, and paired well with the sides of naan and white rice that we ordered. The Gobi Musalum, a dish of finely chopped cauliflower florets cooked in a yogurt-based onion-tomato sauce, was also satisfactory, although the texture of the cauliflower threw me off for a bit. Surprisingly, the dishes that fell towards the other end of the spectrum were mainly the non-vegetarian ones. The Chicken Tikka Masala wasn’t bad, by any means, but the chicken was dry, and I would have preferred the protein to have been chopped into smaller cuts, especially since our group of five was sharing it. The Rogan Josh, a dish that featured braised lamb in a thick ginger-garlic sauce, should have been the star of the night, but fell short in several respects. The lamb was quite tough, far from the tenderness that was promised, and the sauce it was served with was probably the least robust of the night. It lacked the seasoning and spices necessary, and there was a slight aftertaste that I found a little off-putting. I’d also note that actual prices are higher than what’s printed in the online restaurant menus, and as a whole, our group found the portion-to-price ratio rather skewed, especially since sides of naan and rice need to be ordered separately. For those strapped on time or constrained by location, Bhatti certainly isn’t a terrible choice, but there’s much better Indian food to be found just a short walk away.

I came here with some friends for dinner. The place was small and busy, but if you cannot get a table, luckily there are so many other alternatives in Curry Hill. Taste-wise great. Price to quantity wise thumbs down, especially for the tiny, expensive basket of naan. For four people, we ordered 5 dishes shared family style. Vegetables entrees: Paneer Bhurji is one of my favorite Indian dishes and their version here is a pretty good one. It’s shredded paneer swimming in a creamy, tomato based sauce. I recommend ordering this. We also ordered the Paneer Tikka which was good, but not memorable. This was just grilled paneer covered in Marsala sauce. Our last vegetable dish was the Baingan Bharta which is a roasted eggplant dish. Order this if you want something healthy and light instead of the usual heavy Indian food. Meat entrees: For the meat dishes we first ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh. The lamb was not melt in your mouth tender, but it was soft enough. To me, this wasn’t memorable enough to order again. We also ordered the chicken tikka marsala, but I didn’t try it. The others in my group seemed to have enjoyed it though. In general, I prefer the vegetarian Indian dishes, and I think they were more delicious here. They only give about 4 small pieces of naan per basket, so you might want to order 2 – 3 baskets. I haven’t tried the lunch buffet yet, but I feel like it would be better than the dinner, as to me the dinner was somewhat small portioned. Food-wise this place is a 4 stars, but 3 stars for the quantity.

Always recommended to me by my Indian friends as affordable delicious indian food in manhattan. It always makes me happy and gives me a satisfied(i mean overly satisfied) tummy. Banarsi Chaat $ 7 is a nice easy starter to ease into some of the exotic indian spices. Some of the best lamb korma I have ever had. $ 16 I tried to try something new beyond the standard american order of chicken tikka masala(also very good) and tried the chicken xacuti $ 14. It is great, please get it. The saag paneer $ 13 is a lot cleaner than most Indian restaurants and is mostly spinach and cheese and avoids the overuse of cream which made me feel a little bit better about all the food we ordered. And of course do not forget the garlic naan $ 3.50 ea. I knocked off one star for extremely slow service on one of my visits when the place wasn’t crowded at all.

Nice hot spicy indian food. Naan was so yummy, crispy and chewy all at the same time served hot and fresh. Indian Pale ales available which of course I drank, beucase what is better than a nice cold beer and some nice hot indian food? Good service, good for larger parties. we were 6.

The service here was horrible but the food made up for it. I came here with 2 other friends on a Wednesday afternoon at about 12:30 to take advantage of the lunch special buffet. We went into the restaurant to call for seats for 3 only to get sent back outside to wait. We waited about 10 minutes and we went in and we were seated down by a waitress that seemed like she didn’t even want to be there. Two other parties or 3 also came in after we did and sat down. They were later served first while we were still waiting for our food. The food itself tasted authentic and it’s all you can eat! So keep getting round after round and make your $ 11 worth! Overall, I would come back but probably won’t stay for long because my clothes reeked of curry.

So far I liked the food here. Very authentic. My goat dish was very good and so was the chicken tikka with masala. We also liked the okra which was prepared similar to what I had in a notable Indian restaurant in Mumbai. The garlic naan, although expensive, was also very good. We did not order rice to reduce our carb intake. The only disappointment we had was the pistachio kulfi. We don’t know if the ice in the«ice cream» occurred because it has been in the freezer for awhile. They did remove it from our tab. Otherwise, it is a good Indian restaurant. It’s comparable to what one will find in India without having to fly. Next time, I will try other items. It’s worth going back to. They stuck to traditional flavors I experienced in my recent trip to India.

I’ll start by saying that I really like Indian food, but don’t love or crave it like some people do, so the fact that I’m giving this place 5-stars, means something. I needed a recommendation for a good Indian spot and asked four co-workers of mine who are from India(both North & South) and they agreed on Tamarind(for special occasions) and Bhatti(for casual). I can assure you that they weren’t wrong. I’ve been to Tamarind as well, and to be honest, I kind of like this place better in some ways. We ordered the Mixed Grill Appetizer(had Bhatti Da Murgh, Tandoori Murgh and Haryali Chooza), Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma along with the Lemon Rice and Butter Naan & Garlic Naan. Funny thing is that they actually made a mistake and brought us the mushroom appetizer as well(Bharwaan Mushroom) which after one bite, we told them we’d keep it — was pretty amazing. The service was good and wine list was ok(not great), but the great thing about that is that they’re BYO, so I’ll be bringing my own bottle next time. Overall, great place, and my favorite casual Indian spot in the city now.
