I was here for a halloween party and was assaulted by a bouncer. There was only one bathroom and I was waiting for it in line standing still. I was sober and at the time, checking my email on my phone. The bouncer came over as he was initially standing away from me. In retrospect, he wanted to find someone to kick out proactively-I have no idea why. He started pushing me but not the others standing right next to me. I asked him not to as I was responding to an email and he almost dropped the phone from my hands. He then grabbed me, broke my sunglasses that were part of my costume and pushed me to the ground. I did absolutely nothing-as I said, I was waiting in line for the bathroom looking at my phone. When I looked up surprised and asked why he was kicking me out, he got angrier and threw me to the ground before I reached the exit. I told him I would leave on my own peacefully but he kept grabbing me and pushing me. At this point, I just wanted to leave. He wouldnt let me speak-I have never been thrown out of a bar and never caused any problems. I was doing nothing but checking my phone when he first pushed me. Note he is 6’4′, 300 pounds and i am much smaller. He was clearly looking for confrontation as he did the same to others after I left(my friends who were there told me they noticed similar behavior and he kicked out one of the girls in our group who was also acting peacefully, ironically also standing by the bathroom). I left and did not want to cause an issue although I was a host of the party being thrown inside and a lot of my friends were still there. The very least I could do was leave this review as I assume the person is employed by the venue. I have posted a picture of him on this listing of this site. I went to Bill’s Bar and Burger after the incident, which is a much better venue and where the staff doesnt assault its customers. Burgers are better there too.

Very low key atmosphere. The bartenders were very friendly. I had a great cocktail and conversation during happy hour with a friend.

I actually haven’t eaten here yet, but I still have the place bookmarked and will definitely be back to try this«best f-ing burger.»(A pretty big claim for a new place around the corner from Bill’s!) I came here for cocktails during one of their summer Wednesday promotions(5¢ for your first cocktail, $ 10 thereafter). The place was hopping but not too busy, and while the bartenders were aloof, the drinks were tasty. Everything that evening was made with Owl’s Brew, artisanal teas made to be healthy cocktail mixers. I was definitely already getting drunk after one drink, so I highly recommend. I’m actually thinking about buying some Owl’s Brew to try at home!

I went there on Wednesday to get the 5-cent drink special sponsored by Owl Brew. Basically you pay a nickel for a chip, which you then trade in for a cocktail. The cocktail — I got the Pink and Black — was delicious and relatively strong. What I didn’t understand was why the kitchen was closed. It was like happy hour — maybe like 7pm when I got there. Other reviewers keep raving about the burgers and food, but there was none to be had when I went. Here’s what actually happened when I went. People have paid 5 cents for their first drink. They are buzzed. They are hungry. Maybe they shell out a few bucks for their next full-priced drink. There is nothing to eat. They can’t keep drinking without anything to snack on. They leave. Bottom line, we had a good time, the drink special was awesome, but we couldn’t stay because we needed dinner and I’m bummed I didn’t get to try their burger.

First off the name is misleading, it is half a block away from the highline. I was very confused by this place… It appears to be known for burgers, but when I tried to get there on a wednesday after work I was told they don’t open until 6pm. When I came back around 7 I found out they have a wednesday summer special, first cocktail is 5 cents… but all of the 5 cent cocktails were premade in jugs on the bar and not very good. They kitchen was also not open that night which did not make sense to me.

Every Wednesday until 8⁄27 is the cheapest happy hour in the city. 5 cents a drink! How can you complain about that? Although their selection is limited, its still a heck of a deal. All their happy hour drinks are mixed with Owl Brew tea and you can choose from The Right Swipe — a cilantro, chili based cocktail that has a spicy sweet flavor. I compared it to drinking plum juice or bbq sauce Santea — a white wine and fruit cocktail Pink & Black — a bourbon based cocktail You get on line, pay a nickel, get a chip, trade the chip for a drink, find a seat and you are happy.

All I can say is Heisenburger. Just do it. You came here for a real burger you might as well go all out. It is a mix of ground ribeye and pork belly. That won me over but I was surprised at how well it was prepared. It had a glorious crunchy char on the outside and perfectly medium on the inside. Hands down one of the best if not the best burger I’ve had in a restaurant! PS — Its really juicy. Be prepared for that first bite.

I have come here several times on a Wednesday for happy hour. Sometimes its packed and others empty. Either way we always have a good time. Staff is very friendly and not the uppity type that you can sometimes experience in the meatpacking distict. The bartenders make great drinks. I tend to always get the gin and bourbon ones. Price is decent of only $ 8 in mason jars. During our HH they gave out free sweet potatoe fries and bacon fries. Yeah need I say more??? BACON!!! :) Tip: Wednesday’s all summer… 1st Owl’s Brew cocktail is only… wait for it…5cents!!!

After spending way too much at Top of the Standard, we were still hungry, so we were looking for something in the meatpacking district. We saw a few people eating inside so we decided to try it. I got the turkey club, another friend got the Heisenburger with bacon bit fries, and another the veggie burger with fries. Turkey club was actually real turkey breast meat, nice and thickly sliced with thick strips of bacon. When I added the spicy mustard, it really brought out the flavors of it and it was yummy. Heisenburger was a bit rare, but since it is aged, we were assured it was edible. Very big burger, my friend was not able to eat it all. Veggie burger was also very large and also there were some leftovers. Sadly we were visiting the city, so couldn’t do a doggie bag. The staff was wonderful and we would definitely go there again.

I(of course) had the Heisenburger. It was massive and also pretty damn good. The service was a little strange. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and the guy was very friendly and relaxed, spoke to me like I was a regular who stopped in all the time. Then I sat at the bar for about 10 minutes trying to figure out if someone was going to take my order or not. I asked a guy behind the bar who my server was and he said it was him. Then he just stood there, watching World Cup on the television. I asked him if he could take my order and he responded that he had been waiting for me to be ready to order since I sat down. Well… okay. Glad we got that cleared up. I’d go back and I’m guessing the weird service thing was just an anomaly.

Came for the five cent cocktail deal that they have going on until Labor Day. Stayed for the burgers. This place makes a bitchin’ burg. If you are burgin’ then you should come in and grab the Heisenburger, it’s killer.

Boyfriend and I had a very nice time here tonight. Good food, good drinks, good service, good space. We both went for the massive Heisenburger, which was 10 ounces of meaty Pat LaFrieda goodness topped with caramelized onions, house-made pickles, lettuce, tomato and your choice of cheddar or Swiss. I had no idea the name was a Breaking Bad reference, since I’ve managed to avoid watching a single episode of the show, but that did nothing to diminish my enjoyment of what was a hell of a burger. Thick, juicy, and perfectly cooked, this was the best burger I’ve had in quite awhile. Boyfriend also ordered fries, which I opted to skip, considering the burger behemoth I was about to consume(so massive, in fact, that we were initially asked if we intended it split it). In a thoughtful touch, the kitchen split the fries evenly between our two baskets. Wednesday through Labor Day they are hosting«Owl Hour» from 6 – 8, with tea-infused cocktails for just a nickle. You can only get one, but the full price is still a very reasonable $ 8! They were using a «Pink and Black» Owl Brew mixer, and had three drinks to choose from. An excellent, slightly spicy lime and cilantro drink was the most inventive, but a fruity white wine«santeá» was also quite good and went down a little easier. The third option was pink and black mixed with bourbon, which was surprisingly smooth. I’ll admit I didn’t have the highest of hopes for a tea cocktail mixer, but I’m officially a fan. Overall, there was a nice, casual vibe, bustling, but not overly crowded. The staff seemed totally friendly and efficient. I was also impressed to see the chef/owner, Chris, tending bar and taking orders. I imagine it might get pretty busy on the weekends, but it’s good to know there’s a cool, reasonably-priced place in the Meatpacking District.

Went there today with my girlfriend and we had some really yummy burgers. I had their special Heisenburger and my girlfriend had the Plain Jane. She liked hers a lot but we both LOVED my burger. The restaurant itself has a very chill, relaxed vibe; very un-Meatpacking district-ish. You kind of go in, grab an empty spot, order your food at the counter and then let your mouth enjoy a little slice of heaven. The guys working there seemed really cool and friendly and our food came out quickly. The only draw back is that I wish they had a larger selection of beer on tap.(They had one.) It was the special of the day(Brooklyn Summer Ale) and it was $ 5 for what seemed like a tiny, maybe 12 ounce pour. That said, if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a yummy, non-routine burger, then BFB’s heisenburger is definitely worth sinking your teeth into.

You can either walk two blocks away to buy a $ 400 iPad that you’re probably going to replace, break or lose in six months or indulge in one of the best burgers and fries in the city for about 20 bucks. Obviously, you’re broke, a Unilocaler or just want some really good food so you’re choosing the latter. After all, you can always get a second one without having your wallet beg for mercy and you won’t have friends telling you, «Oh you should’ve waited for the new one!» BFB Highline is the real deal. I got the Heisenburger and this burger just delivers some serious kick ass flavor. A thick, nicely seasoned, juicy patty with a nice char coating and the usual fresh burger toppings. This baby is oozing with flavor(must be from the rib eye meat they use). On aside note, a big thanks to the guy at the cashier for suggesting me to go with another cheese on the burger instead of bleu cheese as he claimed it overpowers the burger’s actual taste. I took his advice and was pretty thankful for that. Good Guy Greg lookin out for his customers when they make a bad choice on the menu; I respect that and this guy seems to know his flavors. Speaking of flavors, do yourself a favor and get the sweet potato fries, because these fries are out of this world. I kid you not, if Mr. Potato Head was able to make babies with Mrs. Sweet Potato Head, these potatoes would be the children. Mother of Sweet Potato Fries. These crispy sweet fries are sprinkled with light cinnamon topped off with some chili spices– a true masterpiece. Lastly, this place is a laid back joint with nice people and a pretty chill atmosphere. I went at 7pm on a Friday and surprisingly, it was empty(although they close at 8). It’s unfortunate that they aren’t open later but no one’s complaining when they’re serving the kind of food they have. So ditch the trip to the Apple Store, bring yourself, a couple friends or your date to BFB Highline and enjoy. After all that, you’ll leave feeling like a BFB(Big Fat Boss) ready to walk the High Line. You, your stomach and your wallet will thank me later.

This town has amazing burgers in the 6 – 8 oz range, but I am still searching for heftier burger that has the added satisfaction. The Heisenburger, which is a dry-aged 10 oz burger with«crystallized onions» sounded very promising but fell very short of my expectations. It is a decent burger, but based on the menu’s description of ingredients, it should be mind blowing. The patty has a great exterior char, but lacks intense beef flavor. This however was not the worst part of my experience. After taking my first bite into the burger, the top bun crumbled into a few pieces. Luckily, the fries were better than average and salvaged my meal.

Great burgers in a relaxed environment! It’s a nice breath of fresh air from the rest of the meat packing pretentiousness. Their daily special lobster rolls are ridiculously fresh and yummy for an added bonus.

Really good burgers, perfect fries and the iced tea of my dreams. If my medium rare is done right mission accomplished. The service is laid back, a little messy. It was 1 pm on a Sunday though. They had just opened. When all is said and done, I’d gladly come back.

Let me just start by saying that I’ve tried pretty much every burger joint in the city of New York and this particular place from the moment I tried it made it to my top 3. The pros — hand crafted burgers, fancy condiments, amazing fries, a chalkboard wall, and a perfect blend of tunes the cons– limited hours(i hate when I’m craving bfb and they’re closed) please open later! I made this my to go spot every week. I stalk their instagram to see all off menu burgers and go try them. ha!1 amazing

i cant stand writing a bad review, hope it’s read and results in a better experience next time… — place was empty during lunch hour, literally empty. still took about 30 min to get 2 burgers — ordered the heisenburger a big burger, probably good quality meat…3 very basic issues. 1. the bun was cold, hard and thick, felt like i was eating too much bread 2. the server didnt ask how the burger should be cooked and it came out very well done 3. the sweet potato fries were fried to death my cousin said he had the regular burger and he thought that one was better. in my book thats a no-no if this heisenburger is the signiture dish. anyways, place has potential but come on guys… lets get the basics right on a burger… pick the right bun, cook the burger the right way…

Maybe not the Best, but still a pretty F***ing good Burger. The naughty acronym for this new burger joint is bold, but it does deliver with some outstanding burgers and some really excellent fries. That’s just about all they have here, but that’s all you really need. There is the«Our Best Seller»($ 10), which is the classic cheeseburger, done simply and right. They also have a few other interestingly/inexplicably named choices, like The Kramer(burger with onions and Swiss), as well as chicken and vegetarian options for those wasting it and not eating beef. But the one it’s really all about here is the massive, delicious Heisenburger, both for the gimmick value for Breaking Bad fans, and the fact that it really is an excellent burger. It’s a gigantic, thick, juicy 10 oz. patty(compared to the 6 oz. ones for the other choices), with bacon, cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles and ketchup. With all that stacked together, it is really impressive looking, and is tough to take a bite out of. Once you squish it down a bit though and see all the delicious juices running out and get a bite, it’s really great. My only beef with it is that it was a little overlooked. The menu states that all burgers are cooked medium, but this was much closer to well done. Also, this one is supposed to be a blend of ribeye and pork belly, but I couldn’t discern much of a difference from the regular burger. You obviously have to get fries too if you are getting a burger, and the ones here do not disappoint. We got both the Old School($ 3), which were regular, hot, crispy, perfect fries, as well as the VIP Fries($ 4), which were the same but a bit better with the added bacon bits on top. They also have Sweet Potato Fries if you prefer. The interior is nice and spacious with plenty of seating, including several tables and seats at a bar. It’s lively and bright and they were playing mostly just great early ’90’s hip-hop. Considering this place is in the heart of the Meatpacking District, the prices aren’t bad at all. $ 16 sounds like a lot for a burger, but The Heisenburger really is enormous and is well worth it. Compared to some of the overpriced, flashy places with weak food nearby, this is an excellent option for good eats in this area.
