My husband and I were fortunate to be put in touch, via a friend from Hudson Heights, with Tanya Barach(at Bellmarc Simone Song) when we began looking to buy in the neighborhood in late 2014. Working with us for months to help us narrow our search(including helping us sort the wheat from the chaff of hundreds of listings), Tanya offered expert insights on the neighborhood, including thorough knowledge of the co-op interview and buying process. She was wonderful to work with – patient with first-time buyers, sympathetic to our list of needs/wants, calm, and very willing to go to bat for us! She walked us through the process at every step, went to every open house with us, and was always available by phone, text, email, and in-person meetings. With Tanya’s help, we closed in August of this year on an apartment we fell in love with, in a co-op we fell in love with(Hudson View Gardens), and could not be happier. She consistently goes above and beyond for her clients. Extremely professional, and very highly recommended.

If you are looking to buy/rent/sell in Hudson Heights,(the prettier enclave of Washington Heighs/Inwood) this would be the firm to contact. They specialized in the area and seem to have a lock on all of the more upscale/prettier properties of the zip code. That wasn’t meant to be pretentious, as the prices are still a fraction of the prices further south in Manhattan or better parts of Brooklyn. The brokers are all friendly and most likely will be your future neighbor as they all seem to live in the buildings that they sell in.(So they know you can always knock down their door if they misrepresent anything… but it isn’t recommended) In my experience, they were better equipped to answer any questions I had than other brokers I have dealt with. They know the ins/outs of the individual coop boards. They can give honest and realistic answers on what you can/can’t do with your space, knowing the experience of past residents and regulations of the buildings, etc. No hard-selling, they move at a much more relaxed pace than the cutthroat sharks of other brokerages further down in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The broker I worked with here was Hikari Hathaway. Nice, personable and a lot of patience.
