Barton Orthodontics – New York

I went in to Dr. Barton’s office because my permanent retainer (which I did not receive from him) had some chipped glue. I asked him to fix it. (Simple procedure, I’ve had it done before.) However, before even asking why I was there, he opened my mouth and told me I had «chicken teeth» and that if I wanted to be competitive in my field (I’m an actor), I would need them fixed. For reference, I do not have ugly teeth. I’m not just saying that. They’re small-​ish, but I’m a small person. Nobody has ever told me that my teeth are weird, and I’ve been to dentists my whole life.
Once he finally got around to my retainer, he refused to glue the wire back on my tooth (which is the standard procedure). Instead he REMOVED half of my retainer and sent me on my way. Now I’m worried that my teeth will move and I’ll be stuck getting another set of braces.
He then tried to charge me $ 100 because my insurance «didn’t cover it.» Didn’t cover what? He didn’t do anything! He made the problem worse!
Avoid this orthodontist at all costs.

Barton claims to do multiple forms of orthodontic devices but really only sells invisalign.
He will show you a book of photos and some certificate showing he basically «sold» more services than others.
You will be forced to watch some hard sell video for his services.
You will get a guy who rarely washes his hands, gets angry all the time, does not listen to you.
You will spend many years wearing invisalign and your normal dentist will implore you to see another orthodontist because you were never a good patient for invisalign.
You will have your teeth grinded down beyond normal IPS standards because Barton wants to simply force you into invisalign instead of normal braces.
Barton will push you at the finish to then go and get veneers put on. No dentist however will put them on because they will pop off due to his bad work.
And for his partner Dr. Mal Braverman, who I am sure reads this, he will recommend they go outside of the office to someone else because Braverman’s costs are sky high by even Barton’s standards.
Barton has multiple offices btw so he shows up rarely at this office, to see a constant stream of patients. Look on Unilocal for his reviews at the other offices.
