Barrios Car and Limousine Service

This cab company is HORRIBLE!!, Everytime i call them they never seem to have a cab to take me home. I was a faithful costomer and always called barrio but i would never recomend this cab company to anyone.

They don’t even deserve 1 star … I wish they had a minus option. Always late, or no show, absolutely no common courtesy. So if you’re trying to be on time DO NOT CALL Barrio.

This has to be the worst car service in New York. The driver was constantly on his phone paying absolutely no mind to the road while he talked on the phone that he held. We had to take a detour because he did not listen to my directions. He then proceeded to yell, threaten and blame me for the mistake. I would give a zero if I could.

Terrible service! I will never use them again! The car was over 45 minutes late and caused us to miss our flight because they sent the car to the wrong address and continually underestimated how long it would take to pick us up. The dispatcher was rude, incompetent and gave inaccurate information to everyone involved. Do not use this service!
I called and requested a car to take us to the airport and gave the dispatcher our address. It seemed loud in the background and I was surprised they didn’t confirm my pickup location, but I repeated it anyway. When it was past the time the car was supposed to pick us up, I called to confirm that they were on the way and repeated our pickup location. The dispatcher said that the car was 1 – 5 minutes away. After 10 more minutes I called to check how far the cab was away, the dispatcher said she was going to check, then the call was dropped. I called back and the dispatcher said that it was right around the corner. After ten more minutes I called back and they said the driver could not see me. After repeating my address 5 – 6 more times, the dispatcher finally sighed and confirmed my correct address and said that I had told her a different address originally. I was born and raised in the US, have no accent, don’t mumble and am positive I continued to give the correct address the whole time. Rather than apologize that they misheard me and gave the wrong address to the driver, she continued to say it was my fault and that they do not get addresses wrong. At this point I should have just called a cab, but the dispatcher said that there would be a car there in.1– 5 minutes. After ten more minutes, I called again and was told that the car was almost there. After another five-​ten minutes a car finally arrived over 45 minutes past the original maximum time I was told it would arrive. When I finally arrived at the airport, I missed being able to check my bag my 3 minutes. The dispatcher was rude and continued to do her job terribly! I will never use this service again!

Awful service from beginning to end! Called night before I needed a car to get a price quote. I gave them the start and end addresses, and they said it would cost $ 20. I was surprised it was so cheap so I gave them the address again just to make sure they had the correct destination, and again the lady said $ 20 for sure. When I called the morning of my ride, I was told over the phone it would be $ 20. I clarified again that my destination is Purchase, NY (which is 20 minutes north of the Bronx) and they said «yeah yeah it’s $ 20». When the guy picks me up, I had to give him turn by turn directions, which is NOT my job! Then when I get to the destination he connects me to the dispatcher and they tell me the price is $ 80, and accused me of lying to them about calling ahead of time to get a price quote. They were very rude and unprofessional. This business is shady! AVOID! I will be filing a complaint with the business bureau.

Will never call them ever again. they give you a time and make you wait to never show. then I see my second cab turn right before me instead of getting me because after not being picked up asked the second cab for a different puck up two blocks away. They are incompetent, rude and over priced. Ended up being late for an event because of their crap and ended up taking a yellow cab for half of their quoted price. Screw you el barrio taxi

i typically don’t use black cabs, but if you ever need to call for one this is it! whenever i need to call a cab for work or personal, these ppl are usually always able to get me a car. the last time i used them i was going to JFK and there was literally bumper to bumper traffic. i was TWEAKING out because i thought for sure i wasn’t going to make it. the driver almost from the get-​go started taking the back roads, zooming by wherever and whenever he could. we got to the airport maybe 15 minutes before boarding and i made it right in time to the gate — couldn’t believe it! i was so impressed that i had to Unilocal it.
i have also had some friends complain about a rude dispatcher, but almost always you will have a friendly driver. even one that will go through the streets to get you to the airport on time.

I’ve been using this cab service for years. up until recently they’ve pissed me off on several occasions (it takes a lot for me to get upset btw). The only day I’ll ever call this place will be on Thursdays to complain about their Rude dispatcher who made me late for work by giving the driver the wrong address to pick me up from. I had another altercation recently with one of the drivers who made my friend wait in the blistering cold for 10mins while being across the street the whole time, drops her off at the wrong address and then had the nerves to overcharge her.

The have an exclusive deal at the Costco/​Target building in East Harlem. They are rude and will bully you to pay cash/​hiking the drive you were promise next to the store. The practice of not taking credit card happens in the weekends. They know you have all this stuff and no other options. They well tell other taxis9 different companies) that they can’t pick you up or they will be ban from that location.
i had to used them multiple times as there is no other option. The last card I drove smelled like cigars and was also dirty.

Visited Target on 117^th today and had a good experience. When I was leaving I got a taxi from the taxi stand. Right out of the gate the dispatcher for Barrio Taxi started yelling at my wife where to stand and yelled at us like we were children. He grabbed our bags and was pushing the bags into the taxi. When My wife called Barrio to complain the person in the office asked if my wife was «sure Honey»? Bunch of shady charactors at this place. On a lighter note Victor Cruz, our cabbie, was very nice and tried to lighten our mood. Victor saved the day. All in all next time i will hail a cab.

This car service is WONDERFUL!!! They have the most reasonable prices by far, you can request different sized cars if you need more space for stuff or more people, etc. They accept credit card, but there is a processing fee. I always use them from Target. The drivers are always helpful loading and unloading too. I highly recommend them!!!
ps– I don’t speak spanish, it would be helpful if I did as some drivers speak limited english, but it has never been an issue getting where I need to go.

This is the car service from Costco. ~$ 11 – 12 to the UES and worth it if you need to get back.
I was ripped off by one driver who charged me $ 10 extra because he was driving a van. I didnt request or need a van. Neither the driver or the employee putting everyone into the cars and loading them never told me about this until the driver dropped this on me.

I have been living in Harlem for almost 15 years. As you very well know, we, harlem «citizen» are used to simply hale a cab on the street and jump in one of those town cars. This rarely happens downtown as it would be generally double the price … And cash only… So why not take a yellow cab! Now back to harlem… The ride is $ 7.00 regardless if it is 5 or 10 blocks… And don’t forget to tip the driver… Barrio Car & limousine is everywhere, competing with another company that I won’t mention… Drivers are friendly (after 3 pm you are sure they are drinking Tea and having if you are lucky a bagel … Sometimes wings while driving… It’s an art!).
But I wonder where they hired all of their dispatchers??? I have never had any luck… Either you stay on hold for a long 5 min, and then you get disconnected, either you finally hear a voice «Dispatch» and they get the address wrong 90% of the time… On the other hand, if they do get the right location, you literally get less then 2 minutes to head outside to catch your ride… Now, don’t we all mostly live in buildings? … God forbids, you are a lady late at night trying to head home… Got to wait outside???
And Don’t call back «Dispatch»… You’ll get in trouble!..
I am very supportive of companies that grow and succeed… Good for them! Barrio Service are now also the only at Costco…
But if you can’t handle the volume, then don’t expand… And most of all, customer service is key!

I used this service to get home from Costco. While waiting in line to get into a car, multiple signs advertised that they take credit card, and it was only a $ 19 flat fee to my zone.
I ended up with the driver named **Rafael Ogando** (avoid this driver). He did not drive with a GPS, took his time to stop at the gas station, turned up his spanish radio loudly, and drove on the right lanes so that he could eat his apple while driving. I didn’t mind as I was tired. When we arrived, he claimed that the price was $ 30 and said cash only. Since it was my first time, I didn’t argue, but I should have put up more of a fight.
After this incident, I read up reviews on Unilocal for Costco, and discover that they contracted this Barrios Car service for their customers. Numerous reviewers report the same issues and price discrepancies.

I use this service every time I go to Target. The cars are clean and drivers are nice. I feel safe in the car.
My last experience just really annoyed me. I was waiting in the line at target so I could go back home. I didn’t have cash so I read the signs several times to make sure this wouldn’t be an issue. Sign states they take card, cool! I hop in, driver takes me home and I ask to swipe. To my horror he doesn’t accept card. I have no cash. I panicked a little. The driver took me to CVS to get cash back.
I was annoyed that the sign didn’t let me know I needed to pay before. Please adjust the sign to educate riders! Please let us know this rule beforehand!

Disgusting and condescending phone operator. They need to learn that the customer is always right, and if they aren’t then don’t ever make them think they’re wrong. Overpriced, rude and definitely not ever getting my business. :-)

Inexpensive, fast, better if you speak Spanish. I use them all the time. Never a no, never a wait. I recommend highly.
This is more of a b rated car service. Cars are nice, but some drivers do not have a GPS if you can believe that.
Once I forgot something in their car. I was given the option of paying to have them bring it back to me or go to their office on E. 116 and pick it up. I picked it up. But… I was very happy that I got it back.

We’ve used this service multiple times and the drivers and cars have been nothing but AMAZING. Clean, courteous and great price. We usually are shuttling back and forth to Costco and the shops in that same mall, but today I required a ride home from PetSmart with my sheepdog and was once again extremely pleased with the service. What normally cost me $ 35 one way with a pet taxi was only $ 15. What a wonderful surprise. Believe me, the driver got one hell of a tip. I couldnt be more pleased with this service and the drivers. Anyone complaining about the fact that the drivers do not speak English need to get a grip. You are in NYC, welcome to the melting pot. Every driver I have had, it was clear that English was not their first language, but we’ve always been able to communicate with them, even if we had to repeat ourselves.

The three times my hotel called them to take me to JFK, they tried to overcharge me or hustle for cash.
1) The first time the driver didn’t speak any English (only Spanish_​. Apparently he was trying to charge me with tip (unethical?) and I tipped him on top of that (i.e. $ 84 cab ride from Manhattan to JFK).
2) The second time, the *same* driver pretended not to take credit card when he dropped me off and made a show of it (suggesting that I go inside and find an ATM). after i made no move to go inside, he finally pulled out the old school thing he had used with me the time before. He still charged round trip tolls.
3) The last time I took them, the driver indicated he didn’t take credit when I got in. So he took me to an ATM and I withdrew. I said what the heck — it’s not a huge deal, it gets expensed. He told me tolls were $ 13 … again, round trip. He ended up losing his receipt book and so I called in to get charged by phone by card. They said they’d email me the receipt and I didn’t get squat.
I hate this car service but it’s more comfortable than a yellow cab. Thankfully my hotel stopped using them and I got different car service this last trip.

From the Midtown West area, it can take anywhere from 60 – 90 minutes to get here. We’ve tried using a zipcar (all those tolls and parking adds up to too much), taking two buses, a subway + bus combo, etc.
We finally decided to just take public transit to get here, then buy enough items at Target and Costco to taxi on over home. It’s only $ 19, which is totally worth it (especially since we’re always buying 3 watermelons for each trip!). There’s always a line but it goes by quickly, they load up your groceries and it’s about a 20 – 25 min ride. The cars are also nicer than the typical taxi, too.
