I’m 80% sure someone threw up on my bagel and then have it to me because i ate a part and it tasted and smelled like throw up.

I will never go here again after watching the owner/manager(bald Caucasian male, around age 40 or so) literally berate his employees in front of all of the patrons. It is clear he hires immigrants who work hard for their money. And he finds it necessary to shout and talk down to them as if they are insignificant and useless. I felt terrible watching – 2 men and 1 woman so ashamed, embarrassed, and probably confused(due to language barriers). I would like to report him, but fear that his employees may lose their jobs and livelihood. I happily go next door to David’s for bagels.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Very quick service. Gets a little hectic around the very small ordering/paying counter but do-able. Decent price for a tuna on rye. Lunch special came with a side and a small soda or water. Total was like eight bucks. Will go back if I’m in the area.

Giving two stars is because I went in twice this weekend and they screwed up both times. They need to either do a better job focusing on what people or ordering or write it down. First visit they gave me the wrong kind of bagel, second time wrong kind of cream cheese. Bagels and cream cheese are good, service needs serious attention. Check your order before leaving.

I’ve been to Bagel Boss many times and always enjoyed the food, especially the low-fat tuna and egg white salads, but tonight(around 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday) two great employees behind the counter made my life so much easier. They found the wallet I unknowingly dropped by the cash register, saved it for me, and returned it with smiles and kindness when I came back in about an hour. I didn’t get their names, but many thanks to the young bearded man and the woman with short hair who were so helpful. Bagel Boss owner, you’ve got two great people working for you!

NO maple chip infused bagels when I was there, but they have a 4.95 special breakfast, which is a bargain. Egg on a bagel, juice, coffee. Lot of Seniors(me included) dropping’ in for breakfast, plus students, nearby hospital workers coming for take out, and other assorted NY folk. A very good atmosphere and the right price! And the ’flat bagels’ are good too Fine experience each time i go.

24 hours, and they have FLAT bagels! For the area, besides Tal, this is the only flat bagels I’ve found(except for Pick a Bagel, which we won’t mention again, as that place is a black hole of terrible people and bagels). A flat bagel toasted with cream cheese and tomato ran about $ 3, which is a great price. The bagels were pretty fresh and the cream cheese was also good, not a huge variety in bagel flavors and cream cheese would be the only reason I give it four instead of five. Other than that, they have lots of baked goods… and also Pizza in the back

Recently moved into the area so I’ve been trying all different cuisines and trying to get some go-to’s for myself. I love to get a bagel Sunday mornings so Bagel Boss was one of the first places I tried. The bagel itself was pretty good. I ordered and everything bagel with sausage egg and cheese. The problem I had was when I got home. There was no sausage on my sandwich. Just egg and cheese. I mean come on, the meat is where it’s at. I obviously still ate the sandwich because they have a good everything bagel but I haven’t been back since.

This place is so consistent!!! I’ve gotten salads, paninis, bagels, muffins, and coffee for days– always fresh and delicious. I must admit, if they served meat and cheese I probably would frequent Bagel Boss more regularly but it is still such a satisfactory visit when I pop in :)

I was recommended to come here from a friend and was unfortunately disappointed. It was not very busy for a bagel shop on a Sunday morning and the staff seemed very confused and careless. The same worker asked me what I ordered four times, no exaggeration. Another staff member hit on two different female customers in the time that I waited for my order, creeping everyone out, and looked like he was not in the right state of mind. I ordered a wheat bagel with veggie cream cheese, which was okay. My friend ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. They did not have pork bacon, only soy bacon. Which tasted like hard turkey bacon. I would say it is 100% worth the walk to Tompkins Square Bagels where the staff is quick and efficient. And the bagels are super fresh and AMAZING!

I’ve stopped by David’s Bagels and nearby Bagel Boss fairly often since they both have good hours and are very close to work. Having tried both places at least a dozen times… I have to say that David’s is miles ahead of Bagel Boss when it comes to taste and freshness. Maybe because the Bagel Boss is open 24 hours(and thus great for late night cravings), their bagels never have that«freshly baked» taste other than at 4:30 am(probably when they’re baked?) David’s Bagels, on the other hand, always taste super fresh. Even the whitefish and baked salmon salads taste better(and are cheaper), which is kind of ironic since Bagel Boss touts itself as being the more genuine Jewish bagel place. Service at both places can be hit or miss, but for the vast majority of times is without problems. tl;dr — David’s Bagels is a neighborhood gem, but when it’s closed, Bagel Boss is an decent alternative.

Although most people prefer David’s bagels 2 storefronts down, I’m actually a fan of bagel boss. It’s not the best bagel ever, or as good as the bagel boss ive been to on Long Island, but for some reason I keep going back. They are very quick in the morning during the commute to work and even if there is a line on a Saturday or Sunday morning they seem to keep it moving. The whole wheat bagels are slightly sweet which I really like about them. The iced coffee is great as well. It’s kosher which is nice to have that around here and their cookies and pastries always look so good! I’ve tried the black and white cookies and they are spot on. It’s a pretty cheap bagel spot with quality bagels!

This a good bagel place that has all of your essentials for breakfast with a pastry and coffee. Nothing here wowed me but if you are in the neighborhood and looking for breakfast it would be a good choice.

The sable-on-everything bagel was massive, including a generous pour with the fish. Sandwiches include a pickle and a side. I chose the Israeli salad with a lot of pepper and an uninspiring dressing, but other than that Bagel Boss would be a five-star joint. They’re open 24⁄7.

The bacon egg and cheese on a whole wheat everything bagel was on point. I would rate the bagel sandwich 5 stars, but the Caesar salad I ordered tasted old. It was pre packaged and the croutons were soft and soggy. I’ll be back for the bagel but won’t try a salad from here again.

3.5 Bagel Boss is a popular neighbourhood bagel joint, one of several between 14th and 23rd Street on 1st Avenue.(Please see my NY Bagel List for other options in the vicinity) In the mornings, if you walk around Stuyvesant Town, you can see a peloton of NY delivery bikers with fluorescent yellow Bagel Boss vests zipping around presumably delivering fresh bagels to the hungry city! Like a bauss, this shop has ALL of your standard NY bagel shop offerings. An array of bagel options along with a multitude of cream cheese options. You can go plain, fancy, non-fat, etc. and have the bagel architects create the perfect bagel for you. As a bonus, this store has a bunch of other baked treats that many other traditional bagel shops do not have, such as an assortment of cookies, muffins and cupcake-like desserts. If you want to throw a carbohydrate party, look no further than the boss of Bagels, Bagel Boss. In the shop, you’ll primarily see locals picking up their bag of bagels to take home. Rarely do I see anybody dining in. It’s not my favorite bagel shop on 1st Ave, but it’s just fine! I appreciate that they’ll deliver in sleet and snow as NYC winters have not been very nice the last few years.

Ventured in this morning because Ess-A-Bagel closed down… Everything you’ve ever dreamed of in a Jewish bagel place can be found here. Even the ever rare blueberry bagel(+2 stars). The staff here is great and super friendly. They always remember regulars(+1 star). The vibe in there just reminded me of an old school small town deli where everyone knows everyone. $ 10 for an everything bagel with lox and low fat scallion cream cheese + 1 side salad. I was a little disappointed the lox didn’t have a lot of flavor(–1 star) but everything else was good. The place is also super clean(+1 star) and has lots of selections from snacks to sandwiches and even pierogies(+1 star).

I made the silly face-palm worthy mistake of thinking I could get a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel here when every. single. place. was closed on 1st Avenue. Wrong. In case it’s not obvious, they are kosher. I hated how I couldn’t pay for my bagel and get out of the way of people ordering until my bagel was prepared – three people barked at me, «Whaddya want honey?» You walk in to the place, and you have to squeeze around whoever is paying at the register. No place to get out of the way. I get that this is New York, but when the guy behind the counter started yelling at the guy next to me in line that he doesn’t understand him, that he should speak English, etc., I did get a little offended. The poor guy was probably trying to find bacon, too. My sesame bagel was hard. It could potentially have been a leftover from yesterday. I felt like weeping with every bite, but when the pickings are slim after a *snowstorm*, you take what you can get. I’ll just stay at home and eat my cereal next time.

This was not our first choice but as the other bagel shop down the road closed early –shame on you, closing early without a sign!- we ended up here, and the food? Bingo! I honestly felt it could be a bit dodgy at first, but the staff the their food really impressed us: — Special of the day, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel with a choice of side(potato salad): delicious, big fat bagel and good salad — Tuna bagel with potato salad: they had six or seven different tuna salads, and I went with the one with cranberries. Delicious! Good mix of diners eating in whilst we were there, and we really enjoyed our meal.
