Delivery time is very long so can’t judge based on food but waiting over an hour for delivery with a listed wait time of 35 – 45 mins. Hoping the food is worth the wait.

This place was a little hard to find considering the name outside is not the same as the name on the listing but I’m glad we still went in. The service was great. Best miso soup I have ever had! They also had some interesting Japanese beers.

Stopped in for happy hour. Drink specials were ok. Not sure why a sushi place is offering sangria — cannot imagine it’d be very good but opted for hot sake instead. As expected here.

Ordered Udon for take out. What I got instead was udon broth with ramen noodles that were not even cooked well. It was disgusting, the broth didn’t taste good either. I was sick so I ate it anyway and didn’t feel like arguing with them because I was sick. I’m never ordering from them again.

Awful service. Waitress and bartender were too busy sharing iPhone photos. Left no tip.

Prices on the lunch specials just went up out of nowhere by almost $ 3 – 4? Called to order and nearly fell over when they told me my total before hanging up. It used to be a great deal with good quality sushi(for the most part) and noodles for the price. Now the prices are jacked up and you’re not getting anything more or better for that price. Just lost at least 5 regular customers from my office. We’re all disappointed to have to find a new delivery place for weekly sushi lunches.

Ava(formerly Arata Sushi) is my favorite sushi delivery restaurant. For the price point, about $ 6 per roll, their fish is delicious and fresh. Their customer service is great as well — the few times(out of many, many orders) they have made an error, they have always kindly offered a refund or replacement. My favorites are their shrimp mango roll, spicy salmon roll and Philadelphia roll(without cucumber).

Came here on a Saturday night with a group of friends, and everyone left pleasantly surprised by the meal. In a city full of overpriced, subpar sushi, Ava Sushi stood out with its refreshing ambience, reasonable prices and super fresh and delicious food! To start, happy hour was ALLDAY Saturday. All day. We ordered drinks at 7:30 and still got the deal. I had a lychee martini which was strong and tasty, with a unique milky texture, and friends had the sangria which they loved as well. Started with the spicy tuna pizza and pork gyoza, both of which were delicious. They had a pre-fixe dinner menu which was tempting and a reasonable price for so many food choices involved, but nearly everyone wanted sushi for their meals. Looked like a good option though! The hot lovers roll was a table favorite, but even the california roll was extremely fresh and one of the best I’ve had. Good service and they were willing to do separate checks even though we forgot to ask in the beginning. Would definitely come back and try even more of the menu!

Excellent! Had our last meal in NYC here and it was great! Had the tom yum soup, plum wine, and a platter of sushi! Service was great, staff very nice!

Went for lunch because I wanted somewhere quiet and not over the top expensive. I came away a big fan. The service is great with nothing too much to ask for. The menu is a little limited, but the reality is that there is more than enough to keep you happy. I had a salmon skin roll, a Philadelphia roll and a tuna roll, and all were excellent. The other guy had chirashi and it was beautifully presented albeit a little small. The miso soup was standard but the salad dressing was different and excellent.(I think it has pureed mango or apple in it) The biggest surprise was how inexpensive it was. Compared to its more westerly brethren it was half the price and I think that the food was better. If you are in the hood stop by.

Ordered Ava Sushi for delivery on a Sunday night. I got three rolls for under $ 20, including tip. Glad to say I’ve found my neighborhood sushi joint! I ordered the salmon avocado, sweet potato and spicy tuna roll with crunch. The sweet potato roll was still warm when it got to me, which is great because sometimes the tempura gets soggy en route. I liked that the inside out rolls(fish on inside, wrapped with seaweed then rice on outside) were well proportioned — a lot of fish and thin layer of rice.

My friend and I were looking for a sushi/Japanese restaurant. We really liked the atmosphere once walking into the place. The staff was very accommodating and nice. We ordered the sushi platter for two. The platter came with two rolls and different kinds of sushi. It was very filling. Not sure if I would order the same dish again, since I wasn’t very fond of the rolls. One of the rolls had a strawberry on it. That was a first and I was up for being adventurous. Once was enough. All of the fish were fresh. I checked out the bathroom and extremely clean. I would come back again!

I just tried this restaurant with a friend when we were in the area. I have my favorite sushi restaurants, and rarely try new ones, but we were starving and this place was right in front of us. I was so surprised at this cute place. The atmosphere was charming and the service was so fast! The staff was professional, friendly, and on top of every table. For the busy lunch time hours, they did a great job accommodating everyone. We ordered a few platters of sushi and the food was spectacular. Very fresh and tasty. Great quality for the price. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. So excited to have found another great sushi spot in the city.

If you are the type of sushi eater who values freshness I believe this place will really disappoint. If you view raw fish as a vehicle for the delivery of spicy mayo and soy sauce you may agree with the other reviewers. I threw out my sushi lunch. It’s so frustrating that freshness is so hard to find outside of really expensive spots in Midtown. There is a spot in Brooklyn near my apt called Silver Rice that has fresh fish, great portions, and great prices. I’m convinced it’s these crazy rolls that let so many restaurants get away with old fish. I’m also convinced that if a no frills fresh sushi joint opened in midtown, people would pay a little extra and realize what they’ve been missing. That is, the fish.

I always cross reference restaurants I find on seamless with their Unilocal rating. Needless to say, the fact that all the other reviewers had a positive experience with Arata Sushi made me excited to give it a try. We ordered through seamless and the order was at my door within 25 minutes. All of the rolls were fresh and unique. I got the Galapagos roll very similar to the El Tapo roll at Sushi Samba. I also looked at the pictures of the restaurant and want to have a sit down meal there. Their presentation looks awesome!

Wow! My wife and I was just walking by after a meeting in mid-town looking for a simple good bite(it’s lunch time anyway) SE saw this little door, not too inviting(typical Manhattan) and we’ve discovered a jewel of good eats. They have the 2 or 3 roll lunch special with soup and salad. Their Miso soup alone is worth the hike. My wife went to «From The Kitchen» and boy that P. Duck was awesome. Thanks for the other Unilocalers, I think we are all referring to the same store, different name, but we went here at «Ava Sushi»

Come here a few times, love this place! The platters are really worth it, the platter for two can feed three people! I think i’ve been here 4 or 5 times now, and every time service is amazing, and sushi is fresh and delicious. will definitely be coming back here and would recommend to others!

Ugh, I wish I could say Ava gets a full 3-star rating, but sadly it’s more of a 2.75. For those of you who know me, I’m ADDICTED to sushi pizza. So addicted that I even made a list of every restaurant within a mile of my apartment that has it on the menu. Now I’m in a new apartment with a new list(because I’m nuts like that), and Ava was at the top of it. For dinner I ordered the spicy tuna pizza and the tuna tartare(with no avocado). Let me begin with the pizza. It was decent, not good, not bad, but mediocre. The sauces were fine, the fish was fine, the pancake itself was incredibly dough-y? I’m still confused about it. Usually these pizzas come on a crispier pancake but this one wasn’t. It was almost as if it were undercooked or something. I mean, thank you Ava for sparing me some artery clogging by not deep frying it but it was missing the UMPH factor that would’ve brought a sushi pizza experience that was a 5 to at least a 6.7. The tartare was very fresh tasting but so blah. The whole thing was probably the size of a golf ball and I felt totally gipped! The menu also said there would be mango in it and there were TWO measly pieces of fruit that I could find. Sad. On the bright side… I placed an order on seamless and they were very speedy. Also, the spicy chili sauce that came on the side with the tartare was great. I ended up pouring it over everything I ordered to give it all some flavor. If you’re interested in ordering special rolls, they’re decently priced although I didn’t try any. Would I come back to Ava? No, there are too many nearby places that are much better.

This place is AMAZING! First if all, when you enter this restaurant there is a very calming and quiet atmosphere. I loved how each table was softly lit by the candles, it made me feel very relaxed after a long day of work. The staff were also impeccable! They were so friendly and so accommodating to all our needs. All in all GREATSERVICE! Now to the most important part, the food. OMG. The food is wow. My friends and I ordered a bunch of speciality rolls. But the ones I LOVEDTHEMOST were the Dancing Dragon, Ocean Roll, and Tropical Roll. The fish was FRESH and SOGOOD! Definitely coming back again!

Let’s throw a Real Time Lunch Review at this under-reviewed joint! I ordered up the following: Ava Special Roll: Shrimp mango topped with sliced avocado and blue crab with spicy mayo and eel sauce. Out of Control Roll: Yellowtail, tuna and avocado rolled up with tuna, salmon, eel and crunch, topped with scallion and eel sauce. Canadian Roll: Shrimp tempura, spicy snow crab, bacon, cucumber and spicy mayo rolled in a sesame crêpe. Order confirmed at 1pm. ETA is by 2pm. They’re six avenues away from my office. Arrived about 35 minutes later. All the rolls were visually appealing. And they included a separate pair of chopsticks with separate soy sauce container for each roll, and they provided low sodium soy sauce. Off to a damned fine start! Out of Control Roll: 8 hearty pieces. The fish tasted fresh and was the star, and the other ingredients simply complimented it, opposed to overpowering it. It didn’t wow me, but it was a solid roll, with a really healthy amount of fish to match the price tag. Though way too heavy on the crunch. Canadian Roll: 5 pieces. So a bit chintzy for the price tag. Didn’t look visually appealing. Decent flavor. Again, hearty amount of innards. Though the stars are the bacon and spicy sauce. I mean, fun roll. Possibly worth it, if you have the cash. But do not try it with the ginger. No bueno! Ava Special Roll: Definitely the prettiest of them all. Well-balanced, in that the mango, while powerful and present, doesn’t completely kill everything else. Nice tooth to the shrimp. Creamy avocado. Very fresh ingredient. Nice«dessert» roll :-) I’m a fan! Only an A-ok sushi joint. But worth giving a try!
