Really really really disappointing, expensive and bad service. I got highlights with Ali and ended up looking exactly as I had emphatically advised her against: with orange/warm highlights as opposed to platinum blonde/silver as I had asked for and showed pictures of. I later went back to try to get the«warm» colors out but all she did was tone it with something that made it look darker and like I had never gotten highlights at all. I then spoke to the manager of Arrojo Soho and she basically said that I must have not communicated my wishes well and that if I were to re-do the highlights, I might have to pay additional costs related to the extra work. I did not go back and never will –$ 200 down the toilet.

Get the American Wave perm if you want your hair to smell like a skunk FORWEEKS. Formerly a loyal Arrojo client here, until they messed up my American Wave 8 days ago and consequently, my hair has REEKED so terribly and washing it 3x a day everyday has NOT helped the stench one bit. Let me start from the f**k up: The American Wave process begins with raising the pH of your hair to open up the cuticles and let the chemicals set in. Then they’re supposed to rinse it all out, and then they lower the pH of your hair to close the cuticles back up. My stylist DIDNOT rinse my hair thoroughly enough, so there were still pungent chemicals in my hair when she closed my cuticles and essentially locked the smell in my hair. Proof #1: After the rinsing step, the back of my dress got completely soaked, so my stylist removed their protective black cloak and she asked another stylist to handwash my dress and put it in the dryer. Droplets from my wet hair hit my dress, and the stains were BROWN. If she had rinsed my hair thoroughly, the droplets should have been clear. Yet the other stylist had to handwash my dress to make sure it was spotless. So yes, my hair was dripping brown drops. Proof #2: When she blotted my hair with paper towels, some towels came back with brown stains. So yes, my stylist did not rinse the chemicals thoroughly, and now the pungent stench is TRAPPED in my hair. I have washed my hair with apple cider vinegar, with lemon, with Dawn dish soap, and NOTHING had alleviated this horrid stench. When I got on a plane, the person next to me complained about the sulfur smell of my hair. When I saw my cat, she got one whiff of my hair and BOLTED away from me, terrified(which is the same reaction she had when she smelled a skunk). The offensive perm smell has seeped into all my clothes, my fur coat, my pillows, my sofa, I CAN’T GETAWAYFROMTHISSMELL. I am tempted to shave off my entire head. This American Wave perm is the BIGGESTMISTAKEOFMYLIFE. I just want to smell neutral again, but I fear this smell is with me until I cut everything off. One thing has helped SLIGHTLY: my effort to undo the perm as best I can. Since the problem is that the smell & chemicals are trapped in my cuticles, I tried opening my cuticles back up by raising the pH with baking soda. I used an entire box of baking soda on my head and let it soak it up for 30 min. Then I rinsed, and then lowered the pH back down using apple cider vinegar. This helped the smell a little bit. However, it has also undone the curls from the perm. So the $ 650 I spent on the cut, the perm, and products has been flushed down the toilet, but at this point I don’t even care – I just want the horrible smell to go away!!! Unfortunately, when I washed my hair the next day, the pungent odor was back in full force. I couldn’t even sleep because the perm smell woke me up. I truly fear that my hair is ruined. When I called Arrojo, my stylist said that the perm smell is «normal» but since I flew to a state many miles away, I can’t just go back to the salon and SHOW them that this smell is NOTNORMAL. It’s getting in the way of my relationships – my boyfriend doesn’t want to bury his face in my hair anymore, my cat thinks a skunk has possessed my head, and strangers on the subway and on the plane complain about the smell. So no, this is not a slight«scent» this is an offensive odor that is trapped in my hair because they didn’t rinse well enough! For the record, prior to this perm, I haven’t colored or dyed my hair, I didn’t use any products on it, and I didn’t even blowdry it or use any heat tools. I had virgin hair, so there was nothing that could have reacted to the perm chemicals to cause such a stench. This is completely Arrojo’s fault and now I have to either live with a skunk on my head, or go Furiosa and just shave it all off. So thanks for the $ 650 skunk, Arrojo. I’m never coming back and I made sure to tell all my friends about your American skunk perm.

This review is specific to Bea — colorist and stylist extraordinaire. Do y’all know how lucky you are to have access to her? For me, going to the salon is like going to the dentist. I hate it. It makes me nervous and I am generally uncomfortable the entire time I’m in that chair. Until I met Bea. I told her what I was looking for and she made it happen. We colaborated often on how to change it up while staying true to my low(no) maintenance style. She taught me a lot and never tried(too hard) to get me to use product or a blow dryer or even a brush, just making my hair look awesome with zero effort on my part. She translate my desire for«office punk» perfectly. It wasn’t long before we didn’t need words at all, we just communicated through meaningful looks. I am still not over losing her.

Last week I went to another salon for a root re-touch. After three hours sitting in the chair, I was left with roots that were still substantially darker than the rest of my copper mane. As one can imagine, I was not amused. Not exactly a fan of the grunge look, I booked a color correction appointment with Cassidy. I explained I wanted a more uniform, seamless color and she did a fabulous job bringing my dream to a reality. Cassidy was attentive and resourceful — continuously checking my roots as they developed and adding a toner to make sure the color was even from root to tip. To top it all off, she gave me a fabulous blowout. Walking out of Arrojo today, I felt like a million dollars and would recommend both the salon and Cassidy without reservation.

I’ve been biting my tongue for days now and keeping away from Unilocaling a review but I can’t hold back anymore. Whenever I’ve gone to arrojo I went because a friend was attending the school there. Since she graduated it’s been hard to get my hair cut by her so I decided why not go into the studio to get my hair taken care of. I regret that so much!!! I went in the day it was announced that I’m employee of the month at the store I work in(a global flagship store) and that they’ll be taking my photo the following day. It only felt right to update my cut since I’ve already been wanting to for some time. My hair cut came out average and very choppy, but MYBANGSAREDESTROYED. There’s nothing that can be done too because they’re so short. My confidence has been lowered and I’m constantly looking in mirrors to make sure they fall a specific way otherwise you can tell they’re not cut right. It’s not only me who thinks my bangs look awful! I’ve asked my best friends, family, and I’m so fearful that asking my boyfriend will make him more aware of how badly my haircut came out. Oh man… I’m never going back!!! I spent $ 89 for a disaster that makes me want to stay indoors and knowing this is how I’m starting the new year makes me so sad.

The first time I went to get my haircut by Tina, I was skeptical. I had just moved to New York and gotten an awful haircut that was extremely expensive and just not what I wanted at all. Tina 100% put my skepticism to rest. She listened to what I wanted and flawlessly executed. She knew that I wanted to grow my hair out, so she gave me a cut that not only looked beautiful shirt, but would grow out in a non-awkward way. If you want a GREAT haircut, for a great price, I recommend calling Arrojo Soho and booking Tina LeNoble!

I had a great experience at Arrojo for color correction with the hair colorist Bea. I went from dyed blonde back to my natural brunette. I visited her twice(so far) for the coloring procedures– and touch up procedures. It is always a scary procedure going from blonde back to brown, however the results have been wonderful. I feel very safe in her hands. The salon is in a great location, right next to 1 train Houston stop, and they have Sunday hours Hurrah!

You can trust Corrinn with your hair. I told her what I wanted(features) to highlight but left the rest in her hands. A good stylist knows what looks good and guess what? Corinne is a good stylist. I walked in with a long bob and walked out with a cute, short haircut that emphasized my eyes and cheekbones which is exactly what I wanted. I should also mention that she listens carefully and if you don’t want anything dramatic she will protect the length and do something subtle and great.

Fall in love with yourself, over and over. Every time I look in the mirror I just can’t stop smiling. I’ve been growing my hair out for months to get this particular look. The anticipation the night before kept me up almost all night. I wake up at 6 am and slowly got ready for the long drive from Long Island into the city. Of course, there’s traffic and it’s not helping. Finally, I arrive with minutes to spare till my appointment. I walk to the counter and ask for… her, my new favorite person, Stephanie Hogan. She asked me what I was looking to do. I brought photos. She looked at them, asked me a few questions and then got to work. I wasn’t very talkative. Maybe it was the lack of sleep or the nervousness. It didn’t matter. With each passing moment, every time I looked at her working on my hair I could not help but feel happy. I LOVEMYNEWHAIR! I have fallen in love with myself all over again. Do yourself a favor. Fall in love again. Go to Arrojo and ask for Hogan.(There is another Stephanie who works there so make sure you just ask for Hogan!)

This review is for Hogan. She is a fantastic stylist! She is extremely talented stylist. Hogan knows what looks good on you and to me that is the true sign of a talented stylist. Hogan is also patient and listens to my concerns and addresses them before she starts styling. I am always happy after she styles my hair!
