Alamo Rent A Car

I’ve never had a bad experience at Alamo. Always willing to issue a refund for gas, or the car not being 100% as expected, which is rare. The staff is always courteous and you can tell they value your business. I like that they guarantee an– EZPass, unlike most other car rentals. I can begin to tell you the problems I had with that.

I signed up for Alamo insider member and got a pretty decent discount. Originally rented a midsize but got a free upgrade to a midsize SUV when I got there. The costumer service was fast and courteous. I highly recommend the toll pass, It’s got it for 3 days and it paid for itself in one. The location of the garage made it easy to access the Lincoln Tunnel. I would like to see them implement a pick up service a la Enterprise, but all in all, a very pleasant experience. This will most likely be my go to car rental whenever in Manhattan.

Very fast and trouble free. Made a reservation the night before I needed a car. Showed up and within 15 minutes I was driving out. The car was practically new with about 1000 miles. I reserved an economy car and received an suv.
The manager was very courteous and friendly when I returned the car too.
I almost always rent with Alamo and this is why, very consistent experiences

Great Experience! I needed the car two hours earlier than I originally planned for 3 months ago when I made the reservation. Called customer service and they told me that they would need to make it a new reservation and charge an extra $ 1000 for a 9 day rental. Got their early and Tim the manager said no problem, we are ready for you! Counter lady was sweet as pie and had me out of there in 10 minutes. Saved hours of dollars over Hertz and Avis. Was very pleased with the entire process, car was fairly new with only 8k miles on it. Easy drop off at Dulles, way to go Alamo!

Very nice stuff. The only problem is I picked up a SUV with full gas which is shown on paper, but the gas was only 3／4 when I hit the road.

C’était la journée catastrophe ce jour là. Après le merveilleux moment passé au Columbia Barber Shop, je me dirige vers Alamo pour modifier ma réservation: décaler de 24h ma location de voiture.
Je débarque dans l’agence, une personne au comptoir avec un client, je me dis que ça né devrait pas être trop long. Manqué de bol, le client avait un problème, et les problèmes dans les agences de location, c’est un peu comme un colis piégé à Gare du Nord, personne né sait gérer le problème, et ça perturbe tout le trafic pendant 10 heures.
Donc j’attends. J’attends. J’attends. Au bout de 20 minutes, une autre employée débarque. OMG elle aussi elle était so epic!!! Ambiance «J’ai fait la bringue toute la nuit et ça me fait vraiment c**er d’être là». Elle se met derrière son comptoir, pose son bras dessus, et Y MET SA TETE DEDANS COMME POUR DORMIR, oui oui oui. L’employée modèle !! Je lui demande de modifier ma réservation, parce que je souhaite louer la voiture demain et non pas aujourd’hui.
Elle me répond, la tête toujours dans son bras :
— Non on peut pas faire ça.
— Euh, je suis en agence, vous êtes censés pouvoir tout faire.
— Oui mais non on peut pas il faut appeler
— Vous voulez dire appeler le numéro surtaxé 12 $ la minute là ?
— Oui oui
— Ah beh vous perdez pas le Nord vous ! Vous savez vous y prendre pour gagner de l’argent !
Là, le manager arrive. Je lui dis gentiment que ce serait bien qu’il fasse un truc. Et là j’ai lu dans ses yeux qu’il avait juste envie de se suicider dans un lavabo tellement il kiffait ses deux employés modèle… Il prend son téléphone, compose le numéro du centre de gestion Alamo, puis me donne le téléphone. Bön j’aurais préféré qu’il s’en occupe mais au moins c’était déjà pas moi qui payait. J’ai réglé mon problème et je suis parti. Mais c’était quand même bien magique. Je plains ce pauvre manager de devoir travailler avec des cas pareils !

Had a wonderful experience with Alamo. We needed to go to my daughter’s wedding. I priced out Avis Hertz and Enterprise. They were all $ 1000 for 4 days and Alamo was $ 400. Rented a full size Buick with them that drove like a cloud. The service was extraordinarily friendly and courteous. What more could you ask for?

They gave me the car with half tank full but was actually ³⁄₈ and dropped to ¼ right after I hit the road.
I also rent an EZpass with the car because I need to go through couple of tolls. However, the EZpass was NOT working!!! I called the customer service number and they transfer me to toll department that wasn’t even in their working hour!!! Ended up had to find an ATM and got cash out and spent way more money on the tolls…
They gave me a two door car which is very crowed on the back seat… I understand the compact cars are very small. but it made me think how big the economic car will be…
Gave one star to the staff… They were very nice and responsible

This was my first time renting a car and the staff at Alamo made the process easy. They were very helpful and courteous. The only problem I had was with their customer service. The customer service rep gave me the wrong closing time and if it wasn’t because the manager at the location called me I would have had to keep the car one additional day. Other than that, I had a great experience and I would use this location again.

Waiting an hour and a half on a Sunday morning for a car that you reserved months previously is unacceptable. This happened to us. Not a great way to start the day. Staff was relatively friendly, but generally unapologetic. Alamo clearly has no way to anticipate surges of demand and so that they can adequately staff this location.

To me, the service was very good. Efficient and professional staff. I picked up a car on a Friday evening and didn’t expect the experience to be as fast as it was!

Superb customer service!
Manager and lady at the counter were stand outs. Extremely friendly and bent over backwards to help. Quickly adjusted reservations to save us money and we were in an out in a flash.
Top notch.

Great staff makes it worth more than 5 stars. We came in when they were busy with other customers but the manager still greeted us and make sure that they will assist us as soon as they can. I have two screaming kids which doesn’t help but they were patience and get to us right away. Very friendly and professional. Gave us discounts with a SUV since it will accommodated the kids more. after we’re done, the manager helped carry our bags downstairs because we were handful with the strollers and kids. he called the guy downstair to get our car ready and get us on the way. Fast and friendly staff. Highly recommended it.

Well, it seems a lot has changed since last year based on the previous post. I have been renting from AVIS exclusively for past few years in Manhattan. I previously used Hertz but the head office was crap dealing with an accident. I tried Alamo because I got a discount through a hotel and had no expectations going in. Within seconds of walking into a crowded office, Marvin came from around the counter, shook my hand, introduced himself and then went behind the counter to look up my reservation. He was taking care of multiple issues but never lost track of taking care of me. Friendly, professional, and courteous. This was followed by another gentleman who may have been a district manager. He came over, shook my hand, introduced himself and made small talk while I waited. I have never had that kind of service at any car rental agency anywhere. Fantastic.

This is the absolute WORST rental car location in New York City! The staff, including the managers, who work the front desk are rude and are not at all helpful. They extend ZERO courtesies and flat out refuse to work with you. They won’t even give you a customer service number to call to sort out issues with them.
I was traveling with two blind people, which I was responsible for transporting out of state. So we reserved a large SUV, and upon arriving at this location, the staff refused me the vehicle that I had reserved. They told me it was not their problem and told me to leave. I had to call their corporate headquarters to escalate a claim, and I am still waiting on the funds in my bank account to be released.
Unfortunately, not even their own corporate headquarters could get through to these yuppie, numbskull employees. So unfortunately we had to navigate our way through Manhattan to a Hertz location several blocks away. And let me tell you, guiding two blind individuals by yourself is no easy feat. We managed to secure a rental car at Hertz with ZERO problems and started our journey three hours late.
If you want to be treated like last weeks garbage, rent from Alamo. So please think before you rent a car from them. It’s not worth the frustration and aggravation. Just go to Hertz, where they actually treat you like a human being instead of a paycheck.
