I came here for lunch on a Wednesday with some friends. It’s right next to the 456/NQR, so it was easy to get to, but the experience was mediocre at best. We all got items from the lunch special — they had a bento box for just $ 13 and some dishes for $ 9 – 10. Also, they have a 2-roll lunch special for $ 11.50! The prices are incredible, but the food and service was just okay. I found the food to be a bit too salty. We ordered fried rice and the presentation was great, but I could only get through a few mouthfuls before the salt level became too much to bear. Also, there were only 8 customers in the entire restaurant, 4 of them being my group of friends, and they rushed us out of there. So the service was not that great. I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back here. The price and location is amazing, but I didn’t enjoy the food or service all that much.

The place looks so cool and elegant. Don’t be fooled by the décor. Beef Satay was tough– Pad Thai and coconut soup had little flavor and the sushi I ordered came long after the other entrée which my partner ate. With so many fabulous Japanese and Thai restaurants in the area, I’d recommend going elsewhere.

Amazing Japanese place! I had sushi rolls(crunchy spicy salmon, salmon avocado & California rolls) and my sister and I split the chicken teriyaki dinner plater which was big. The desert of Fried ice cream was incredible. We are definitely returning for the great service and affordable yet delicious food! Calvin was the best server! He helped us choose the rolls and was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place.

We had to ask for water as they didn’t serve it. We had to ask for tea refills twice and the place was 20% occupied with 6 person staff as if they had something else to do than serve. We asked for a larger desk and they refused to places us at a larger table. Its 2 pm an 80% of chairs are empty. Second round green tea was watered down tremendously and the unagi eel roll I had ordered was w semi dry rice and had a strong fish taste which eel shouldn’t have. Disaster service and disappointing food. I won’t come back.

Came here on New Year’s Eve. Sushi rolls were decent, but the Pad Thai was quite bad — tasted like very thin rice noodles mixed with ketchup. Would avoid that one. One male server was quite friendly but the women were definitely not smiling and kept rushing the service although there were many empty tables in the restaurant.

Service: 3 Food: 3.5 Presentation: 4 It’s alright, not the best not the worst. Everything is give on ceramic plates and if it’s hot, it will get cool very quickly. Spicy Kani salad was a nice delight

Good lunch specials. I love the fact they don’t charge extra if you want to substitute your meal with brown rice. Yummy salmon teriyaki but sushi isn’t that great. Fast pick up time!

Service is kind of slow but the food makes up for it. You can’t beat this lunch menu prices especially for this area. I’ve been satisfied and full. My tummy appreciates you.

Love this place! Went here for sushi last week and it was delicious. Then ordered delivery to try some of their other dishes besides sushi and they were just as good! Delivery arrived within 20 minutes and everything was hot and fresh. Their Gourmet sesame chicken comes with the sauce on the side so it is not a soggy mess by the time you get it. Also ordered Japanese fried rice with shrimp and it also was great. brown rice, fresh taro, loved it all. This is a great find for dining in or takeout/delivery on UES.

Love this place! Definitely my top pick for Japanese fusion in the city. Sushi quality and presentation is top notch(Angry Dragon Roll being my faaaavorite). And food is always fresh. The staff is also very friendly and restaurant décor makes for a very nice experience. For hot plates, I recommend the Saikyo Miso Salmon which is soooo good and comes with a great mix of flavorful veggies, as well as the Beef Negimaki(dinner) which is also delicious!

I LOVETHISPLACE! I had walked by for years, & finally viewed the menu – it was fairly priced – what a great surprise! The sushi is creatively prepared, fresh, & delicious! I love the seared tuna salad & I’ll post photos of that & also The Tomo Roll. I also like the spicy tuna & spicy salmon individual rolls. They can make them with some crunch in them & I enjoy those rolls. Service is very pleasant. Interior design-love it! Sushi-love it! I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s about 2 blocks from Bloomingdale’s. I often have my dessert a block away at Sprinkles Ice Cream also on Lex.Ave.

This is one of those OK sushi places that doesn’t feel authentic, but doesn’t suck. Really good lunch deals. 3 rolls for $ 13 if I’m not wrong, with miso soup and a blah salad. The miso soup at these kind of places isn’t really delicious, and they don’t even come in propor miso soup bowls, but it is acceptable. The salad was literally a bunch of leaves covered with the so called asian dressing. The sushi was actually pretty decent, there wasn’t too much rich which is good. I had the yellowtail scallion, salmon avocado and tuna.

This place is so underrated. Its sushi is amazing and it’s really high quality in taste. They also have fantastic lunch specials. I always get the 2 rolls for $ 10 and it comes with free soup and salad. Great place!!!

I LOVE Ajisai. This is one of my favorite sushi places in Manhattan that’s not only reasonably priced, but has great quality food. Whether you come from lunch or dinner, you will always be happy with the menu. Their menu includes: sushi, sushi and kitchen appetizers, traditional Japanese and Chinese kitchen entrees, and an incredible selection of special rolls exclusive to Ajisai. My favorite roll is the«Angry Dragon Roll» that includes: shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, papaya, topped with spicy crab meat wrapped in a light pink soy paper drizzled in a miso sauce and basil oil. It’s delicious to say the least. Ajisai has such an interesting menu that it is worth trying new things than what you would normally get. The food is fresh and you can really taste the quality which is my favorite part about eating here. Everything down to the sushi rice is made fresh and it makes coming back again and again a treat!

Loved this place! Have started going here for a reasonably priced meal after the gym. Have eaten there five times now and have never been disappointed. Love the sushi and as well the other Asian fusion dishes. Great value for the dollar in a comfortable and immaculately clean setting!

Decided to spend my 30 minute lunch break here. I was famished having not eaten breakfast that day. I went with a bento box, but instead of my usual choice of chicken teriyaki, I chose the salmon teriyaki. This was served with miso soup, garden salad, shumai, and one of three choices of a sushi roll. I really appreciated this because most places will only offer you a standard California roll with the bento box and charge extra if you are in the mood for something else. For my first time having salmon teriyaki, it was delicious. I ate every last bit. It was served over a bed of roasted vegetables and was really savory. For my choice of a roll, I went with a classic — spicy tuna crunch roll. All this for $ 13. I was happy and my appetite was fulfilled!

I frequent this place for lunch quite a lot, especially in the winter when it’s freezing, because it’a so close to my office. I always get their green tea which is always piping hot and perfect for a cold NY day. I won’t say it’s the best Japanese food I’ve ever had, but I’m spoiled since I used to work at a sushi place during college that I adored and the food was amazing, but everything I’ve had at Ajisai has been very satisfactory. Stopped by for lunch today with my sister. We shared the Chicken Pad Thai(I know I know, but I’d been craving it, don’t judge me) as well as three rolls: Salmon Avocado, Eel Cucumber and Yellowtail Scallion. The ingredients were all fresh and the rolls had a good ratio of rice to filling. The Pad thai was a little on the sweet side for me but still good. The portions are on the smaller size for lunch but the lunch prices are reasonable so I think it’s still worth it. I’m a huge fan of their Orange Ginger salad dressing. Not every Japanese restaurant nails this so it’s notable when one does. Service is always friendly and timely. No complaints there. I’m sure I’ll be back!
