This is a vanity gallery. Was in Chelsea and in the West 20s to gallery hop in September. They make money by charging artists to show there. They have ZERO interest or incentive in actually selling/promoting their«art» because they’ve already made their money from the poor artists. Reputable galleries do not operate this way. Many of the the Unilocal reviews you read below are from gallery staff members. SOMANY other great galleries in the neighborhood. Stay away.

Patrons assume galleries curate their collection based on talent and contemporary relevancy. This creates a scenario where investors find real value for their large art purchases and feel confident in returning. I would not suggest people put their faith in an investment from Agora Gallery. They solicit artists through emails stating representation starts at $ 3850 with installment options available so the artist can pay. This means the stable that exists at Agora is not of the quality a traditional gallery that offers the artist a cut of sales in exchange for exhibiting and promoting their work. That is to say, they are showing who can afford to rent the space(with no real guarantee of Return On Investment), instead of showing quality or relevant artists. In the art world, soliciting artists who are naïve, dumb, or desperate enough to pay for gallery representation means you are purchasing the equivalent of an Ikea print and exploiting people who don’t know any better. Mind you I’m sure they do occasionally display charming works from people who are going to learn their lesson and move on, but they cannot ethically claim to provide relevant works by mature artists. Better they label themselves as a hobbyist or folk gallery, as amateurs who are paying with excess money from a day job are most likely who can afford to pay for this kind of representation. TL;DR Artists pay to be shown in this gallery. They are exploiting the art world myth/dream of New York City gallery representation and that is extremely unethical. Buying from a Gallery that asks thousands of dollars to show work, is exploitative and I would suggest making an art investment at a more reputable location.

The Agora Gallery is a wonderful place to see work of talented emerging and mid career artists in Chelsea, near the Highline at 530 West 25th Street, New York, NY10001. Lots of variety in artwork. Good for prospective art collectors and good for artists as a spot to showcase artwork.

Very nice galery not far from the high line. I particularly liked the description of every artist and a short comment on there work. The only pity was the staff, not welcoming and even if there is no one else they won’t take time to present you the point of the exhibit and a bit of information on the galery

Hop off the Highline and into this super diverse Chelsea Gallery for some culture and art. This gallery is great for browsing or buying! The front desk staff are very accommodating and helpful. You can just go browse and leave without feeling like you’re intruding. The other great part? There are printouts with prices for all pieces at the front desk. You can see what high quality art is going for in NYC, and maybe save up for a fun piece!

This gallery is home to some wonderous art work. Amazing artists display in this gallery and we are lucky that the floors house multiple galleries that vary from medium to genre. This is a great spot to enjoy great and diverse art at its finest and easy accessibility.

Hier kann man wirklich die Zeit vergessen. Agora Gallery ist eine sehr außergewöhnliche Gallerie in Chelsea mit ständig wechselnden Ausstellungen. nicht nur für ausgesprochene Kunstfreaks ansprechend.

Really enjoyed the art in this gallery. All of it. And I’m not all that into art. You have to come by and check out the Lego art:

I liked the contemporary artists. I really enjoyed the artworks here along with other little galleries on the same street. There’s always different exhibitions every month. I’d go back again to see new ones :) It’s all very interesting.

Before May 30th, you all owe it to yourselves to get over to Agora! It’s their plethora of coinciding collective exhibitions… «Unchartered Realism,» «Abstract Concepts,» «Out From Down Under and Beyond(Australian and New Zealand artists),» and«Collective Exhibition.» I don’t even know if I blurbed that all out correctly, but case in point: lot of good fine arts in one lovely location. Great variety in within the show, so I’m confident their’s something for everyone. Personally I was digging Renate B. Hofer’s and Agnieszka Opala’s paintings. Tues-Sat 11 – 6:00.
