Great hardware store in the garment district. They have it all plus the great service which is why I always come back.

I work in the area and have stopped in with various problems of my own creation. The staff are incredible, and have helped me multiple times find creative solutions to my problems. Anyone that hates the Home Depot experience should go here. You’ll be very happy you did.

I don’t leave many Unilocal reviews but I get all my keys copied here and the store is so well-stocked. Staff is so friendly and it’s really a nice break from the day to run my errands here!

Needed a few screws for a bed frame so I stopped by here yesterday. The ones I currently have are a little stripped and I needed to get perfect matches otherwise I would have a pottery barn frame with stripped screws that I could never undo. They are unique enough and combined with the fact that I am essentially useless when it comes to handiwork I needed some help. The guy who helped me was phenomenal and helped me with what I needed and some additional advice on getting rubber washers so as to not scrape up the frame at all. I ended up spending 4 dollars. Bottom line is that someone who knows next to nothing about home improvement can go in here, get expert advice and not be overcharged for it. Just good people providing great service at a very reasonable price.

Great little hardware store. Large inventory & selection in a small space but very neat and organized. Friendly and helpful staff who provide excellent and speedy service. Prices are reasonable, especially considering Manhattan.

Great store, extremely friendly staff and very knowledgeable. Needed to pick up some metric screws for mounting a TV, which several other stores didn’t have, and they had exactly what I needed. Edit — went back and needed 2 nuts that were only sold in packs of 20, so they just gave me 2 from some extras they had for free. Super friendly, super generous. 10⁄10

Such a great little hardware store in an area that for some reason doesn’t have any hardware stores. Staff was super helpful and prices are reasonable. Definitly my go to spot in the area for any hardware needs!

Great customer service, knowledgeable staff in and out in less than 6 minutes. So convenient in Hell’s Kitchen where a home depot is far away. The pricing is fair.

A very friendly family run business, the only place in NYC where you can buy your KeyPort Slide Keychain, and get your keys made altogether.

They didn’t have wet paint signs but offered paper and marker to write it down for free. If there is anything you need this is the place.

No complaints here. I was trying to find a hardware store/locksmith that carried my specific type of key so I could make a copy. Called a couple stores including this one and the customer service and knowledge of 38th Street Hardware was a far cry better than other places. I needed an AR-ER key(no other way for me to describe it), so I phoned in and was greeted with a happy voice saying they carried the key and told me exactly how much it was. I had also called AAA Locksmith on 46th street prior, and they gave me an attitude, told me they had no idea what an AR-ER key was, and wouldn’t give me a price and constantly told me to come in and check first. Upon showing up, I was greeted with smiles from both father and daughter and was served and out the door within 5 minutes. My key cost $ 2.50 which is reasonable in my opinion, since I didn’t have to travel to my regular place in the boonies of the LES for a $ 1 key. Friendly, professional, and knowledgeable staff. Forget all the other places.

A terrific, family-run business that is friendly, professional, and courteous. They are near my work and I’ve been in a few times to get keys made. Have a table lamp that I love stop working(either the socket broke or needed rewiring). Stopped by to ask if they repaired lamps and they quoted me $ 25, plus parts. Brought the lamp in the next day and then got a call a couple hours later that it was ready. They ended up only charging $ 10 for the whole job and said that it was a quick, straightforward fix(new cord/wire and new socket). Really great customer service!

This place is really amazing and will come through when other hardware stores fall short. It’s a family owned business with knowledgeable, genuine people that are eager to help you with anything! This place is a gem in NYC for anything hardware related.

A great family-owned business full of professional, non-condescending but funny people who know their stuff. (I signed up for Unilocal just to leave these guys a great review, but I’m not associated with them in any way – just a happy customer.) I went in with a screw stuck in a long boom pole. A dozen other people/stores had looked at it and given up. But after an hour of trying a bunch of different remedies, they finally drilled the screw, fixed the pole, and didn’t even charge me for the new screw or their time.

Greatest place I’ve ever been to!!! I was going to try and be handy and try a DYI project myself of putting knob heads into a wood plank and then hanging it to use as a necklace holder. I went in 38th Street Hardware just for shorter screws, but then when they realized what I was doing, they helped me put the entire thing together, right there in the store. They drilled the holes, put the knobs in, cut off the excess screw length and even put the hardware on to hang it up once it was finished. Insanely patient with me and also explained the whole process. Probably spent about an entire hour putting this together and they only charged me $ 3 for the materials. SONICE!!! It was also really wonderful seeing the father and son work together on this project with me.

Came in to buy a lock for the gym. Guy was friendly and helpful. Not a huge store, but how much hardware are you really going to need in Midtown West?

Another one of the older hole-in-the-wall hardware shops in Manhattan; but the counter service is professional and quick, they had a USB cable in stock which saved me a walk over to Best Buy.
