2B Salon

Save your money, save your time, and save your hair!!! It’s almost 4 months later, and I’m still waiting for this disaster of a haircut to grow out. The couple who own the salon are very friendly and very nice, but it doesn’t make me feel any better about my crappy haircut. This place is VERY expensive– you will hate your haircut AND yourself for paying someone such an obscene amount of money to massacre your mane. I created this Unilocal account to warn the general public about this place – DON“T DO IT!

When I was in the corporate world, I was fortunate enough to go to some of the higher end salons in NYC– Japanese straightening, $ 400 haircuts, dying and highlighting my hair almost ever color possible– including blonde (I am dark brunette). After being laid off almost two years ago, those luxuries are a thing of the past. Back in November, I bought one of the daily deals for a haircut at 2B Salon. I read about them on Unilocal and was interested because they are in my neighborhood. Buying that deal was the best thing I could have done. I can truthfully say Zhauna gave me the best haircut of my life– yes, life. I wanted a inverted bob and she delivered above and beyond. Can you imagine waking up in the am and basically being able to walk out w/​out doing anything to your hair? Yeah, that good! It also grew out impeccably. I loved it so much that I went back a few days later to get a single process color. They have an amazing space and are very accommodating and friendly. The reason it took me so long to write this review was because I wanted to get a second haircut to see if it was consistent and that haircut was better than the first. I will go to 2B Salon and Zhauna forever. I highly recommend them.

Hair, people, perfect, done.
I came to Daniel after a royal «high-​end» salon highlight mess. After leaving a message 1 a.m. the night of the disaster almost in tears, Daniel promptly returned my call first thing the next morning. He didn’t just have a receptionist mechanically book me like most salons, but rather gathered information about my current hair state and how he could best fix it. I was instantly reassured that my hair would be in expert hands.
I arrived at 2B Salon with warm greetings and a relaxed atmosphere. As soon as I sat down, Daniel inspected my platinum blonde, gray-​toned highlights over my brunette locks, walked me through his perspective, and suggested where we go from there. He showed me some toner colors, gave his advice, and asked what I thought. After trusting his direction, listening to some amazing music, and relaxing in good company, my hair turned out AMAZING — it was exactly what I wanted in the first place.
Daniel (and Zhauna too!) are extremely talented, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. They will make you feel at home while attending to your hair until it is nothing short of fabulous. As Daniel had put it, «This is my profession — it’s my job to make your hair look great. I would never let anyone leave this salon without satisfaction, only to pay double for the work I was supposed to do.»
In other words, 2B salon is the place 2B — you can bet I’ll be back! :)

I love this salon — Zhauna and Daniel are the nicest people around and cut hair like wizards. I hadn’t cut my locks in a year. Daniel gently created order out of chaos and Zhauna told me about the frequent art exhibitions they host in their waiting area. It’s an amazing salon /​art gallery. A golden retriever greets you happily as you walk in and splays out exhausted on the floor as your haircut proceeds.
I am very happy with my cut, thanks Daniel! Will be back soon.

Usually going to get my hair cut is as painful for me as going to the dentist. I never have high expectations of hair salons because they rarely get my hair right. Zhauna cut and colored my hair and I absolutely love it! She knew what I wanted even before I knew what I wanted!
They definitely live up to their motto, «Great hair. Great drinks. Great company.» :)
I would definitely recommend and come back here.

Daniel is excellent! I cannot say enough good things about him and how talented he is. If you live in New York (or visit often) I highly recommend becoming a regular. It is amazing to me that in a city like New York it is actually very difficult to find a great stylist. Daniel is one of the best nation wide.

Daniel is ridiculously talented. My wife and I moved away from NYC a few years ago, but we still schedule our trips back to New York around Daniel’s schedule. As great as New York is, it just wouldn’t be a completely satisfying visit without a trip to 2B. He’s great for men and women. He’s a true artist, and I wish I could see him every six weeks!

So this is my big luxury in life. I was introduced to Daniel’s ability to make my hair «behave» about 8 years ago through a friend who worked downtown. I’ve followed him everywhere and so enjoy the serenity of his studio/​salon, conveniently near my other occasional passion (Century 21). More than anything, I just trust his taste, judgement and scissors. I trust him enough that I recommended him to my new boss. That’s a riskier move than going for short hair the first time. Now she’s regular too. Terrific in every sense.

I have been seeing Daniel for all of my hair needs since I moved to NYC three years ago. I cannot imagine going to see or trusting my hair with anyone else. As a male with longer blond hair, it is hard to find someone that I have complete trust with when cutting my hair. He is truly an artist when it comes to hair and you can sense that when discussing with him what you want to do with your hair when you go to see him. If you make an appointment, I assure you, you will walk out completely satisfied.

i followed Daniel to two different hair salons before he started 2B. My haircuts are always fabulous and new and Daniel has created a cozy and laid-​back environment that feels like you’re hanging out at your friend’s fabulous loft (because that’s what you’re doing, really). I’d fly to Minneapolis to have Daniel cut my hair if I had to.
