I am a fan, but I am also not over the top about this place. I would love a better fish purveyor. The one here carries about 3 kinds of fish, all whole and they won’t scale or fillet. There are better out there, and this guy is very demeaning about the neighborhood ‚“THEY won’t spend any money on anything else”. well, I would and i bet a lot of others would too if the vendor were better! A plus is the addition of Bread Alone. HOORAY a REAL bread seller and not day old either. No heirloom tomatoes? No Cheese? Please let’s get this place to grow and have some interesting vendors, on the whole, the people there now are great, but to be worth 5 stars there have to be some more and some more upscale ones.

One of my favorite green markets. This market is open on Thursday from 6÷28÷12 to 11÷15÷12. Amazing fresh produce variety and excellent prices. Few of the farmers offer bargains like 2 for $ 5 or 3 for $ 4 on lettuce, carrots, kale. There are a few Mexican specialty farmers with tomatillo, papalo, and peppers. The stellar market nutrition classes are great too. They pick items from the market and show you great ways to use them.

I LOOOOOVE this market!!! I’m going to seriously miss it when I move. The people are SOOO nice. If you don’t have exact change, and they don’t have the right coinage to give you change, they round down and tell you to get it to them next time. The produce is fresh. You have to look, like at any market, and they do focus on produce that the clientele of the area tend to buy more frequently. But it’s nice. You can also buy colognes, undergarments, and other discounted grocery items throughout the little market. It’s quite the gem!

I just bought a HUGE bundle of fresh rosemary and thyme for a total of only $ 3. Sadly, they didn’t carry sage(I learned a new spanish word! Sage es tomillo en espanol) and I ended up having to go to Gristedes(yuck). Also, the woman who rings you up is named Rosa and she is the sweetest. I had gone the day before to buy produce and I was short a dollar. She told me to pay her back some other time. You don’t get that at other farmer’s markets now, do you? and yes, I made sure to pay her back when I bought my herbs: P

I’ve stopped by here a few weeks in a row and three times walked away with nothing, though I qualify by noting that each time has been in the afternoon. They have a big fruit stand(with loads of apples now), probably four or five tents with vegetables. One table of pies, cookies, and breads. No meat, alas. Nothing lighting my ass on fire, which is a shame. Times of Operation: Thursday, 8AM to 6PM Season: Mid June through November
