Yup, gotta say it… loved this Irish bar/neighborhood dive. Great service by Danny. Streets of the city were swarmed by holiday tourists, but this place was far enough off of the beaten path to go unnoticed by them. Locals arrived at a reasonable pace and enjoyed some holiday cheer. Looks like they support lots of local music. Good prices, fine Irish Whiskey selection. Stop in if you ever this part of the city and looking for your next place to hang out for a bit.

Pretty decent spot for catching english premier league matches with other fellow soccer fans. Personally, I am a avid fan of Liverpool FC which is what the bar supports as a whole. I give it 3-stars because it isn’t a very big space and when it’s game day, unless you arrive well ahead of time before the match starts, good luck finding a seat. Or a decent viewing spot for that matter. Every time I have gone I’ve either been crammed and uncomfortable or been turned away to go to their sister soccer bar around the corner. Really neat though to see the outpouring passoniate Reds fans and great atmosphere.

Friendly, low-key bar. Good beer selection. Additional seating in the back. One of the bathrooms didn’t lock though so I had to hold the door which was kind of nerve-racking…

Great bar sitting somewhere between a dive and a low-key place to get a drink at. Went on a weekday while waiting on a nearby restaurant’s table, knew about the 5 – 9 $ 2 off any drink happy hour but we were pleasantly surprised by the live jazz that we encountered. Drinks were decent, bartender was friendly, beer selection was good. Can’t complain, cool spot!

11th Street Bar NY Manhattan East Village 8pm Saturday 5th April 2015 four stars As we walked in, there a middle aged woman passed out on bench and I thought to myself this going to be a great bar. As it turns out, it was. First, we came here for a surprise birthday party which they let us bring outside food in as well let us commandeer the entire back section. There was even a curtain to separate it. Second, they have happy hour from 4−9pm daily where it’s $ 2 off everything. So I had three $ 3.5 yuenglings within the hour. Third, after happy hour was over they put up a new special $ 10 for a shiner and a pickle back. The whiskey was Evan Williams but whatever. The pickle back’s alleged history dates back to Russia where they take shots of vodka and eat a pickle.(Watch the newest season of House of Cards). According to Wikipedia with cite to a New York Times blog– the term pickle back was coined by a man by the name of Reggie Cunningham from the Bushwick Country Club in 2006. I love pickles. I love whiskey. I love the combination. The brine somehow creates a meaty, umami taste on the tongue as if I had just finished a sip of bourbon and bite of a McDonald’s Big Mac. Overall, the service was good, the drinks were cheap, and people wanted to get wasted.

Kenny is a legend. Ask him how he feels about time zones. This bar is the definition of a bar. I came here one night and I never left. Liverpool or die.

I have to say, this is essentially my ideal type of bar. Found myself here around 9p on a Wednesday to see a small«concert» which was more like a very intimate living room jam session. There were probably a dozen people there when we talked in about about 25 by the time we left so cozy but not crowded by any means. The space is essentially one long bar leading into an open area in the back with a small stage and a handful of small tables with a couple chairs each. The concert was really awesome and the setting only added to it. I’d absolutely be back for any random act that plays here. As for the beer, my friend and I grabbed a lager and an IPA from the very well represented beer list shown on a chalkboard above the bar. I believe they were $ 7 each but we had just missed HH minutes before so that was on us. The bartender, Kenny, was certainly a character but friendly enough and scurried around behind the bar to accommodate all. It seemed evident he had some very loyal customers in attendance that sang his quirky praises as well. Clientele was a bit varied but in a good way. I will certainly be returning.

Five star quality dive! Happy hour until nine and the grilled sandwiches smell awesome after a few beers. And cookies… who are you guys. Will be back for a porter and a bourbon. BTW, cash only, don’t cry about it, just go to the ATM.

Came here the other night for the first time and had a good experience. The place is bigger than I thought. When you walk in, you have the long bar which then helps extend into a larger space in the back that were filled with tables. The back was a bit crowded so my date and i decided to sit up front — by the door(it was freezing outside — keep that in mind). We didnt have not one issue with it because this amazing bar had heaters right by the door and we didnt feel not a touch of wind. It was great and we were warm. Drinks were made well and staff were polite. Will be returning any chance thats provided — would want to try out their food(im assuming they have food since there’s tables.).

Came here on a Tuesday. Place was reasonably crowded. Awful service especially from the happy hour bartender who could stand to lose 15 – 20 pounds. Very rude to customers and was making racial remarks towards a few people there. Bathroom door doesn’t lock. Wife and I stayed for only 1 drink before we headed elsewhere. There was only so much that we could take. There are much better options nearby.

Great happy hour, good selection of beer, good neighborhood spot. Ascetically pleasant, have had many good experiences here,(bartender has never been rude).

The bartender has people he likes and people he doesn’t, when he takes a first look at you. He took a look at me & he was rude and obnoxious to my date & I for no good reason. I am not one to have any problems when I goto any bar. I am weather New Yorker who gives respect and expects mutual respect from those in the service industry. I pay my way and I tip well. I was supporting my friends band, I was refused service for no good reason. The bartender is an old guy who is very bitter and angry, he acted like a tough guy. I wonder why he refused me? I was the only non white guy at the bar, just saying, it’s safe to say that I won’t be going back their again.

I don’t remember much, but I do remember that KENNY is the most fantastic bartender around! He is so kind and helpful and doesn’t have any attitude like often times people behind the bars do. He really helped turn my night around when it was only looking down. The drinks were tasty and I’ll def be back for some live music! Thanks again :)

In New York City I can literally get anything I want at any time. Shiiiiit I just got a rub and tug just because I felt like it. Now that I’ve released, relaxation sets in. I’m not sure what I want. So I stumble in to 11th Street Ale house as I walk down second ave with a pep in my step. Everyone is singing the shitty songs I love. It’s a merry affair. A gay ol’ time. Sometimes you don’t need to be on the cutting edge of cocktails, or down on your knees blowing brewmasters for the freshest hops. I’m not always in the mood to hear an expert attempt to distinguish himself with his knowledge of another person’s craft. Sometimes people just want to have a cold one and sing with their friends, do a line in the bathroom while Buckcherry blasts through the boom box. For these moments, I sponsor 11th Street Ale House.

This bar is practically up the block from where 2 of my friends live and so I’ve come here a few times before my «super Unilocaler» days, last night was the first time I checked in here and definitely the first time I’ve been there this year. 11th Street Bar is a quant, no frills bar that’s not really a pub — in NO way a dive and not a pretentious gastropub. In essence it’s more of a good solid old school East Village watering hole. They’ve got a decent selection of craft brews, but dominating their beer list are definitely foreign, European brews like from Germany, Belgium… Long Island(lol), etc. I think the bartender from last night was named Darren(my apologies if he’s not) and he was super cool. He let me sample two different wheat beers when I couldn’t make up my mind and I ended up going with a citrusy wheat beer(which unfortunately I don’t remember the name of, although it was fantastic and super refreshing!). They don’t sell much in the way of food here, their menu was compromised of 3 different grilled cheese sandwiches and I think some soup options. The one that stood out most to me was a grilled cheese with ham and gruyère(my fave cheese!) — my friends and I were eating somewhere else, but I’d totally return and give that sucker a whirl. There was also a live band playing here last night in the back, bands play so far in the back that if you’re sitting up front, by the bar near the entrance the volume of the live music barely interrupts with conversation which is great if you’re not there to watch the band — but there’s also seating and small tables around the band if you are. Also by the entrance is a modest sized TV that was tuned on the Red Sox vs. Yankees game last night(which Yankees were totally winning when I left ;-D) — great if you’re catching a game or interested in taking a peek at the score every once in awhile, but not obnoxious sized either… not an obnoxious crowd here either, just a very chill vibe. In all 11th street bar is a pretty good place to catch up with friends, plus $ 2 off everything during happy hour isn’t too shabby…

This place is pretty adorable. I totally get why it has 4 stars. My friend lives around the corner so I’ve been here a few times. It is very chill and I imagine it’s mostly regulars who come here. Bar is stocked and there’s a great happy hour deal where you get $ 2 off. It’s until 9pm on Sundays, which is great. I can’t really emphasize how chill this place is. No douchebags as far as the I can see. Which is amaze. Also, I went this past Sunday and they had an Irish folk band, which was totally great. I’m not sure if they have it every Sunday, but if so, I really wanna go back and see them again. Also the bartenders are super chill(though it seems they are more friendly to the regulars). There’s a $ 15 credit min. AND the best part is they totally let you reserve the back room if you are having some sort of event. There’s a projector TV that is huge and the sound is really good. My friend reserved the back room for the Oscars for the second year in a row this year and they were totally OK. We also brought ALL our own food and that was no probs! So yeah love this place! If I lived nearby, I’d totally be a regular.

Very nice bar near Stuytown that I never would have found save for the birthday invitation from a friend’s sister. The name doesn’t really say much about the bar – it can be just about anything when you step in. Luckily, it was a really nice melding of neighborhood hangout, Irish pub, and beer snob cantina. The back area has some generous and fairly intimate seating despite all the hubbub that starts around 10 pm on a weekend. At that point the noise level really amps up but if you’ve got a good crew, it’s tolerable. Of course, I was here on pre-Halloween weekend, so the rage was clearly at above-average levels. They had a few really nice choices on tap, perfectly catered to the season – nut browns, Oktoberfest marzens, and pumpkin ales(and porter)! Anyone who serves pumpkin porters immediately gets bookmarked in MY book(zing!). The bartenders were friendly enough, though once demand grows it can take quite a while to get a drink.

A bar that features one of my favorite singer/songwriters(Freedy Johnston) and has Ommegang Hennepin on tap and you think I really need to type more here? Ok, maybe I do. If you are a dog lover, this seems to be a good bar to go to in NYC. I believe I counted 3 dogs lounging around inside this place which is actually very cool. Not something you see very often and not something I expected in the city. Portland, where I currently live I might expect to see it, even though I haven’t, but NY, not so much. Anyway, refer back to the first paragraph to see why I gave this place 5 stars. Freedy doesn’t come out to the Pacific Northwest, so while I was back on this part of the country, I was glad I found out he was playing here and glad that I got a chance to check this bar out. Will make it back again someday.
