Just moved to Potsdam and my girlfriend and I decided to make Lobster House our first date night out together. The lobster bisque and biscuits were amazing. When our lobster tails came out, we were thrilled with how huge they were. Then we started eating them. They were overcooked, dry, and flavorless. We ate them only because we weren’t going to throw $ 30/​each down the drain. The hostess was nice enough to take $ 10 off of our $ 75 bill, but I don’t think I’ll be going back. For a place called Lobster House, I expected the lobster to be good.

Fantastic meal! Reasonable prices for the amount of food and the quality. Wait staff was very nice and the food was outstanding! The coconut shrimp was delicious and the steak was just amazing. We brought the kids and they loved it too. There was a great selection on the kids menu and the waitress was so patient with our picky daughter who insisted on «croutons!». This restaurant is now on our favorites list!

Very enjoyable experience. Service was fast in the midst of a 28 member party on other side. The restaurant has been there for 25 years, some of which in the former years was under a different name. It has been recently remodeled and is a very clean and up to date facility. The menu has much to choose from and any family member can find something to satisfy. Prices are quite reasonable and the food is fantastic. Parking is plentiful and could accommodate a good sized camper.

This place has lots of space to accommodate any type of event– we had a large birthday bash– The food again was subpar but folks really like the frozen seafood– baked potatoe was cold and old (we ate after 7 PM) my caesar salad was soggy and way over dressed. The rolls hard as a rock. It is popular with the locals but for those of us who know seafood– avoid. But if you have a large group they really are experts in accommodating anyone.
I complained about the salad and told my server in private outside of the dining area and server came back to the table and made a large loud fuss in front of everyone to embarrass me– She literally said your salad is not good is everyone’s salad ok are you happy with your salad etc etc… — very unprofessional and I will not be back.

Seafood platter special was dry and overcooked. Lobster in shell was bone dry. Fish and chips greasy and almost «punky». Lobster bisque and crab legs were very good. Salads overloaded with vinegar and lettuce old and lifeless. Pretty disappointing for a restaurant that used to be a favorite.

Not a huge fan of this place. Food is mediocre at best. They pretend to be a fancy restaurant and it may be «fancy» for Northern NY but it’s not. I can go elsewhere to get frozen food prettied up to look like a high class meal and pay less.
No WIFI and if you have ATT you can’t even get a signal inside FYI.

Overall the food here is good and the prices are fair. I am not really a seafood person but I do like the steaks. My wife says the seafood is good and we both enjoy the biscuits. My problem is with the burger that I had for lunch. The burger is actually pretty good and cooked just the way I like. However, I was blown away that you can’t get pickles to go on the burger. Here is this great 10 oz. burger with onions, lettuce and tomato’s — but NO PICKLES! I can’t believe that with all the sandwiches that are on the menu that none of them come with pickles. If pickles were part of this lunch menu item and the fries were not frozen I would have given the place a 4 star rating. If the place was a little less dingy and updated a little I may have given it a 5. But I doubt this place will spruce up the environment any time soon. The service was fine. However, the waitress could have used some help. She did her best.

Went here for me and my boyfriend’s one year anniversary. We got the three dishes for 20 deal and it was amazing. All of the food was amazing and we were served promptly. The place is gorgeous with beautiful paintings all around. Our server was conservsational and extremely polite. The lobster bisque and a salad was included in our meal on top of the three dishes! One of the best dinners I’ve had in a while, I’ll be going back very soon!
Edit: I’ve gone back numerous times now, the service is great everytime and the food is fantastic. I always tell people to go themselves and always speak well of the restaurant.

Had a group of 15, and called 1 day before for reservations and we got it! This is the holiday season and the weekend??? Amazing, Thank you!
Server: Excellent but was clearly overwhelmed with all the tables she was working on. I think they may need more servers? We got our drinks, but was delayed more than usual between refills.
Food: Top notch! Kudo’s to the chef’s at The Lobster House! Everything was wonderful, hot and delicious! Thank you.
Décor: Nice, but not over the top.
Bathrooms: Drastic improvements needed here. The Mens room was a death trap if a fire ever broke out. If your using the farthest urinal your trapped until the person on your side leaves! uggh! A place like this should have a decent sized and appointed restroom. This is why they failed my 5 — Star rating. Not sure how the lady’s room was?
Would definitately recommend to friends and family.
I’ll be back!

Some friends talked highly about this place and recommended us to try it, especially since they knew I loved seafood. It’s one hour out of our way, and in a town where there’re no other places to visit. But we traveled anyhow. The place was cozy and had lots of room. I imagine they have a lot of patrons from the area especially during the weekends.
Our young receptionist doubled as our server. He was nice and kept on checking on us once in a while. He made sure the kids’ meals came in right away.
The food, however, did not meet our expectations. Let’s put it this way – I wouldn’t drive out of the way to eat the same food I can find in the town where I live.
One good thing came out of this experience though. Now we know there’s such a place as Norwood, NY.

In an area somewhat bereft of fine dining — a shining star.
The salmon here is delicious. The chowder is amazing. Undoubtedly the best chowder in the area.
I don’t eat meat anymore but the Prime Rib is amazing here. A very nice sized portion as well.
The Calamari is delicious, crispy, but a bit greasy. The sauce they serve with it is unique and made in house. Some kind of secret sweet and sour.
They have cheesy garlic biscuits a bit like Red Lobster. Because I have been to The Lobster House so many more time times than Red Lobster It took me a few runs to realize that Lobster House copied red Lobsters biscuits. I actually think they are just as good if not better here.
So, if your in the area — you should definitely go either here or Angelo’s in Potsdam. Both have good seafood. Both have great fish. Both have some unique items.
