Just went back for another«passport» photo, in & out in a few minutes. Sadly most of their camera and photography products are gone — they are specializing in broadcasting & lighting as their updated name implies. I think they’ll continue to provide services like passport photos and will also now provide broadcast services for businesses(I think).

my experience with the Camera Company has been much like other reviewers. The staff was difficult to deal with and very condescending. I was reluctant to ask questions and show my ignorance about photo equipment/cameras. I remember hearing the ads for their company on the radio and I would think, «This is going to bring them more business. They’re going to be so mad». The store is close to where I live and I would love to shop there and feel that I could get their advice which is much needed by me, a novice but it really is not an option for me to shop there as I’m too intimidated by their staff. What’s wrong with this picture? This is my first Unilocal review which I hope reflects how turned off by the employees that I was. I welcome the opportunity to stand up to these men in this type of forum.

There is one guy who works there who is a TOTAL ass. He is so unbelievably rude. BUT… I do have to say that everyone else who works there is awesome. They make up for the jerk. Unfortunately, they’ve closed their retail business and no longer sell cameras or provide support. Time to move on… maybe it was a good thing they’re closing.

I have visited the store several times and I must agree with everyone else who posted less then great reviews. The salesmen are extremely arrogant and belittling, I admit i do not speak the lingo or know as much as they do but that why I went there in the first place for advise. Talking to anyone in the store for anything is more than awkward, they make you feel like they are doing you a favor by talking to you. And EXPENSIVE! Hello people its called the internet, do some research and get some competitive pricing. Its no wonder they are going out of business.

I agree with the other posters about the camera salesmen, they are belittling and rude. As a professional I went in for their opinion on numerous items and was pretty much told everything I know is wrong and everything they know is right. Also, PROMASTERSTUFFISTOTALJUNK. This place sells as much of it as they can, to whoever they can, because of the large profit margin on it. PM stuff is extremely inferior in quality(especially filters!!!) to even the most well known of lower end photography equipment. I have had no issues with the printing and general sales staff though

Wow… could these people who have been more rude. I went in to buy a camera accessory for a present and was belittled by the guy behind the counter for not knowing too much about the camera. I mean I had the make and model? I will tell you that from someone who makes sales for a living that you just don’t do that. I went to Radio Shack and got what I needed with a lot more service. Do not shop here. Plenty of other places where the staff are not hostile, condescending, a**holes.

I have stopped into the Camera Company a couple of times in the past with minor accessory purchases and contemplating a DSLR camera purchase. I always felt the salespeople did not give me the time of day. I chalked it up to only spending a few bucks and maybe that they knew I was just browsing and not a serious purchaser. However, I recently dropped a few hundred bucks there and got the same treatment– smug, arrogant, unhelpful and not welcoming. What’s the deal? Do you need to be a professional photographer who«speaks the lingo» and drops thousands of dollars to be treated well? This shouldn’t be the case. On a positive note, they do seem well staffed in quantity of people working, although they are often engaged in conversation with each other. I’m going to find a new store in the future.

Image the world’s most pompous salesman who is downright insulting to a customer and you have The Camera Company. I walked in asking for help and I was looking to buy a digital camera. I get snide reply that there are now ‘these things called digital cameras’ How can a store like this stay in business. Run away from this place. Walmart would be a better choice — not really but don’t get me started on them either…
