Slow braised Lamb M’charmel was excellent. Just the right amount of spicy Harissa over couscous, as recommended by our server. Mint tea was super hot and very fresh. Love the giant sprig of mint in my tea glass. Buyer beware: they really try to push the cakes and sweets after dinner. Server even went so far as saying, in a joking way that he hoped we wouldn’t «stiff» him on dessert. Which I HAD to after he said that. No harm, no foul. :) Also tried the Merguez Tagine over rice. Careful, the rice is so hot it will melt your lips and tongue off. Take it slow. This sounds weird, but somehow thought the on-prem made sausages would be a bit bigger and thicker. Think Jimmy Dean breakfast. Strange, but the dish doesn’t seem as hearty with Jimmy Dean’s on top. Too many bright lights. I think candles and dark, warm lighting when I think Moroccan restaurant. Paprika is more like a café. Bright pendant lights pointed at my face and downward at the table. A few more pointed at the walls and artwork for good measure. It was fine but certainly lacks any allure or warmth. Will definitely go back. Well worth the trip.

Glad this gem was rated so highly on Unilocal.I came for a lunch sandwich and am truly enjoying each bite. The flavors blend beautifully and the service is fantastic. I highly recommend you check this place out. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more frequently!

All the 5 star reviews justified! Had our first dinner experience last night and have to say we found a new regular restaurant to add to the Norwood rotation. From start to finish it was all good. Very, very good. Teas were tasty, chicken soup was flavorful, chopped chicken salad was amazing but the Lamb Royal made us swoon. Dessert was the almond amaretto cake and all I can say is wow. The owner was helpful, had a great sense of humor and was very attentive. And proud of his food, which he should be. We will be back — can’t wait to try other dishes.

This restaurant is an absolute gem. I cannot stop raving about the quality of the food, the pleasant atmosphere, the kind service, and desserts and coffee. This restaurant is not expensive and yet some of the best food for miles around.

Stopped in on a business trip. We tried a different restaurant, based on Unilocal reviews, every night. We picked this one based on their 5 star review. Café Paprika won the trophy for the best of trip! I was nervous because I had never tried this kind of food before and didn’t know what to expect. Atmosphere: I won’t lie, when I walked in, I was nervous. It was very quiet but it was kind of early and freezing cold outside. Throughout our meal, other diners joined in and tons came in for take-out…people love this place. There is not a bar and they don’t serve alcohol but you won’t need it. The owner runs the front and he is hilarious. He wanted to get to know all of us so he could help us pick the right meal. He goofed around with our troublemaker and laughed with all of us. Food: Once the decisions were made, the food started coming out. First the cheese and olive tray; I wish we could order that online and have it shipped home… it was that good! Then our entrees. He told us to leave room for dessert but the food was so good that we felt guilty leaving any of the huge portions behind. He started by asking us who wanted coffee with our desserts. Only one raised her hand. He said, «Good, I just wanted to know who could have cake. You have to eat cake correctly.» Before we knew it we had ALL ordered coffee and one of each of the desserts to share. And boy was he right. He instructed us on how to eat cake: 1) place bite of the cake on roof of mouth(don’t chew/swallow) 2) take drink of coffee 3) enjoy cake melting Interesting fact-the cake only had 4 ingredients, making it around 320 calories. The other desserts were just as wonderful but the cake was magical. Price: His prices were half of what we had been spending at all the other places. I had an entrée, coffee, cake and my bill was $ 23.

Perfect! If you like to eat good food that has been carefully prepared to delight your taste buds, this is the place. Not pretentious or too expensive. Everything is delicious. And the owner takes care of you as if you were a guest in his home. Enjoy!

Second time at this place and both times, left beyond full and wanting to come back! The owner is very friendly, service was awesome. I ordered the bruschetta and he said, the tomatoes are out of season and not as good as he would have liked, but said he will still make it, if i still wanted it. I said thanks, and got it anyway. In addition to the tomatoes(which were as he said, being out of season) there were roasted peppers and goat cheese, and other things. All i could say, is i need to get my butt back there when the tomatoes are in season, because as it stood, it was probably the best damn bruschetta I’ve ever had! He brought an entire plate of it and i ate it all! I also ordered the Lamb Royal and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. I would def go back there, and will when back in town. Oh, did i mention how unbelievably good the bruschetta was?!? My girl got a chicken plate that she enjoyed and said was wonderful. I didnt let her have any of my damn bruschetta!

Café Paprika was one of those restaurants that i found on Unilocal with a 5-star rating couple of years back while i was in providence and being a huge fan of north-african food i definitely wanted to try this place. I moved to south boston an year back and finally got the opportunity to give it a try. The first time i visited this restaurant was with couple of my friends. I ordered their grilled salmon and one of my friends got the grilled chicken wings. Chicken wings were definitely unique. The grilled salmon was perfect. This is my third time i visited this restaurant with my wife few days back and i know from anthony bourdain’s travel show that morocco is big in sea food so i again went with the roasted tilapia and my belief was right. Didn’t dis-appoint. My wife ordered M’charmel chicken which was pretty descent too. I heard their desert items are worth a try, definitely on my to-try list :). They are located in a convenient location in norwood, ma and of course the owner of the restaurant is very kind. He greets everyone and takes care of them. I forgot to mention their mint tea is definitely worth a try. It is quite refreshing.

I was in the area so I decided to check this place out with a friend. We ordered the fried calamari, grilled chicken wings, marakesh kefta tangine, mrouzia almond chicken, and the lemon citron cake. The portion for the calamari is a bit small compared to other places, but it was really good! I am a big fan of garlic and there were plenty on it! The grilled chicken wings were soooooo good. The sauce that it comes drenched in was amazing. It was tangy with just the right amount of salt to balance. I didn’t think it was that salty, but then again i love salt… Since it was my first time here, I decided to try to marakesh kefta tangine and the mrouzia almond chicken, which is what most of the reviews for this place suggested. To be honest, I thought they were good, but not great. I was wowed by the amazing flavors that the calmari and the grilled wings delivered, so personally I thought these other two dishes were a bit bland in comparison. They were still good, but my taste buds were expecting more! Towards the end of our meal one of the staff said to leave room for dessert and we happily obliged. We ordered the lemon citron cake and it was seriously one of the best lemon cake i’ve ever had. I regret not getting my own slice! Even though I was super full, I probably could have eaten a few more slice of that amazing cake. It was moist with just the right amount of sweetness and citrus tang. You can ignore the rest of my review, but just order the citron lemon cake! Trust me on this! Also this place has one of the best customer service! The people working there were just the sweetest, always checking up on us and making sure everything was ok.

Always well taken care of. The owner always takes the time to ask new visitors what they are in the mood for and walks them through picking something they will enjoy. I also have a friend with food allergies, and they work with her to make sure she enjoys her meal.

Unbelievably, I have done take-out at least two dozen times at the adjacent Conrad’s restaurant and never even noticed Café Paprika’s storefront. Until tonight. Figured I would give it a whirl. Food was flavorful and fresh(and PIPING hot) but a touch over-priced for the portion sizes. The Marakesh Kefta Tagine was delicious. Tender, flavorful meatballs in an extremely tasty tomato sauce. The roasted egg on top was so creamy and delicious that I almost thought it was melted cheese. The bread that accompanied the dish was fresh, flavorful and just baked. Entrée was not quite satisfying in portion size and even coupled with the delicious chicken soup left me wanting a little bit more. A bottled root-beer and tip made the dinner nearly $ 30 for one person. Not totally disproportionate for quality but enough to make it not a Five Star review.

I’ll go back. I found the wings a little salty but couldn’t stop scarfing them down. They were good. but… I can’t tell you why. I just can’t place it. The couscous with sausage was good… Food is HOT when it comes out of the kitchen, I mean temperature wise. not spicy wise. I wish I had 10 minutes to kill to let it cool down and I would have enjoyed it even more. I’ll be back and try a new item. I am glad I went because it’s so out of my food comfort zone.

Last night was our first time at café Paprika but we will now be making this a regular date night spot! We started with the wings and I don’t know what they do to their sauce but I would drink it. The staff is charming and gives you tips on how to properly eat their traditional food. We ordered the almond chicken and the kefta tagine as our main dishes and both were incredible. Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time! For dessert we tried the almaretto cake and Moroccan coffee. My boyfriend doesn’t even like cake and he said he could have eaten 10 more pieces! Needless to say, we are already planning our next visit!

We stopped in from out of town for dinner. It was more than dinner, it was an experience. The food was remarkable and the ambiance was relaxed and uplifting. The owner was jovial and welcoming. He took great pride in his cooking and in nurturing people through food. All of this was reflected in the meal. I had tender lamb shank falling off the bone on a bed of fluffy couscous with fresh mint tea. For dessert I had a lemon cake(light) and lavender black tea. Everything was terrific! I hope to be back one day.

Friendly service, good food, quaint environment, reasonable prices. Amazing flourless, gluten free chocolate cake, wonderful tea selection(especially coming from someone who does not generally like or order tea). The restaurateur offered a special remedy to be added to my tea, as I was feeling particularly under the weather. I enjoyed the Po Boy sandwich, chicken soup, and calamari salad. My dining companions enjoyed their meals, as well. Both experiences I have had here have been great. I will look forward to returning soon!

Let’s start with 3 ½ stars. I’ve been meaning to stop by here, but it isn’t really convenient for me and the last time I was in the neighborhood, my friends were too hungry to walk that far down the street. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to stop by for a nice eat in meal in their cozy little space just off the corner where Washington Street is met by Walpole Street and Guild Street. But I picked up a slice of their lemon cake to go. I guess I wasn’t the only one of that mindset, since the gentleman taking my order simply grabbed a slice of cake that was packed and ready to go. It was $ 4.95; $ 5.30 after tax. In a word, light. Everything about that cake was light — Light cake. Light frosting(relatively, for a non-Chinatown cake). Light lemony-ness. Everything but the price. It was good. It was soft and moist. But I wouldn’t quite say it was $ 5 good given the portion size and its lack of a: Bang! Lemon flavor, in your face, wow factor. But if you disagree(feel free!), given 2 days advance notice, they can make a whole 14 inch cake just for you — 14 slices — for $ 45. As for me, I might have to plan a special trip out here to try some of the tempting sounding sandwiches off their Artisan Sandwiches menu(available Lunch Time — that’s till 4pm). They’re closed Sundays, but those sandwiches are available on Saturdays in addition to weekdays.
