China Garden

China Garden is in a new location now – plaza next to Seafood Unltd. And across street from Vacotura’s Bakery.
This place has the BEST chinese in this part of CT. They make awesome crispy bbq spare ribs, «hot wings» (which are not on menu! Special request only), fried plantains, & super flaky/​crispy crab rangoon. It’s not overly greasy or salty & portions are right on for typical take-​out pricing. I make the 15min. drive to pick up our food when we decide to do take-​out.

First, I have lived five minutes from this place for over a year and never even knew it was there so that says something right there and after the service I got I wish I went back to never knowing it was there. It started off ok, I asked the man behind the counter if they had just opened up and he said no they had been there for six years, from there it went downhill. I asked to see the menu as I was reading the menu trying to make a decision he was standing there with a pen and an order pad in his hand huffing and puffing as if I was taking to long, this after about 15 seconds, mind you. After about about 20 more seconds of him huffing and puffing and tapping his pen waiting for me to make an order I told him I had never been there before so I wasn’t sure which dish I wanted so he said he was going to go out back and by the time he comes back I should be ready. He comes back about 30 secoinds later and says «You ready now» I wasn’t. I should have left at that point but I thought the service is bad but the food might be good, no such luck. I hurried up and made an order comprised of beef sticks and moo shu pork and. As I sat there and waited 35 minutes for my food I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why he was rushing me seeing how not one customer came in nor was there any in there nor did the phone ring once to place an order. When I got my food I knew why I was alone in there. The beef sticks were ok it would be kind of hard to mess that up but the moo shu pork was the worst I have ever had I took one bite and threw it out. This is one place I wish I never found and will never go to again

I was surprised. I was in this out of the way corner of Norwich and thought I would stop in and give this place a try. I ordered General Tso’s Chicken and was very plesantly surprised to discover that it was some of the best I have enjoyed in a long time. The restaurant has a few seats and is generally clean. I captured an image of the dish itself and uploaded it here.
I probably will never be in this area looking for a meal again, but if I was. I would go back.
