1st time there, food and service good. Nice patio, music pleasant! Would go back again!

It was the first time coming here and it was a wonderful experience! The food was to die for and the tastiest I’ve ever had. Boyfriend loved the drinks and the cake tasted like it was just made. The only complaint was the waitress seemed annoyed and didn’t want to give us any attention other than basic service, giving more care to the locals.

One of the best nights of my life took place at the Wolf Creek Tavern. I showed up on a Wednesday night for a supposed ‘20s night event with two of my friends… except when I walked downstairs to the speakeasy, I was greeted with a room full of my friends shouting«Surprise!» The night was actually a birthday party for me! I wish I could remember the name of the speakeasy barista, but she was so incredibly friendly to us all, and made our wonderful drinks all evening. The Tavern allowed my friends to bring in macarons and cake to celebrate, and provided veggie and fruit trays, and the best gourmet pizza! The speakeasy is entirely legit, and the furniture and décor is marvelous. A cozy place for any evening in my book, and the perfect space for a private celebration. I look forward to coming back one of these evenings to check out their dinner menu!

Restaurant holds a lot of promise if they could ever get their act together. We were in town for a Memorial Service for a friend who had passed and decided on Wolf Creek Tavern for dinner. On the surface it looked good and when we arrived we were impressed with the facility. It was warm and inviting with a somewhat eclectic atmosphere. A lot of history here going back to 1840 and the fact that it was once a stop on the Underground Railroad and was a Speak Easy during prohibition. We were promptly seated and drink orders taken. Being a Southerner, I took a chance and ordered Sweet Tea. When she told me they did not have Sweet Tea, I asked it they had Simple Syrup in the Bar, she said she would check and when she came back, her reply was no and then changed it to … sort of, What is sort of? Ended up with regular unsweetened with half of the undissolved sugar in the bottom. In anycase, after reviewing the menu, my wife chose two appetizers. She ordered Garlic Bread and Fried Green Tomatoes. I ordered the Tavern Burger with Fries. An hour and 10 minutes later and having watches much larger parties than our party of two come in, order and get served and almost finished, we flagged down the hostess. She said she would check and disappeared for 5 to 10 minutes. When she came out, she said our order was just coming out and would be served shortly. 5 minutes later, when it was served, the burger was slightly warm, the fries were stone cold and my wife only got her garlic bread which turns out is more of a flat bread. Granted the presentation was nice and it looked good bu the fact was when I bit into it, it was cold and well past it’s prime. They offered to redo the order but I did not want to wait another hour so I ended up eating the cold burger. It was not bad and probably would have been very good if it had been served when it was ready. My wife Fried Green Tomatoes, finally did show up about 5 minutes later. They offered to comp her another drink but she also declined. All indications are that the order was processed normally and was ready when it was suppose to be but no one picked it up and it just set there getting cold. Restaurant has a good menu and good atmosphere and the food is probably very good when served at the proper temperature but the Service goes beyond leaving much to be desired.

Wow! We have stopped at Wolf Creek several times while in the area and we are HOOKED! The energy is positive and we always feel welcomed! We always find something new on the menu — whether it’s a cocktail or an entrée. We especially LOVE the chef’s special soups. We had a ham and potato soup last Sunday that was out of this world! I also had a bone-in pork chop over succulent maple brown-sugar baked beans that melted in my mouth. Ray had the sirloin(rare) and was pleased! Chris(our bartender) was engaging and welcoming as always!

We’ve been here MANY times. I am all about supporting local businesses. Today, we went for Brunch and had horrible service. * Waited 1 hr 45 mins for food. * Ordered my 1st Bloody Mary, it was very good. * Ordered 2nd Bloody Mary, horrible. Not even close to the 1st one. * When food finally came out, orders were all wrong. * Food came out at different times. * Half of the food was cold. Overall, bad experience. I hope they see this review and get their act together.

Pretty good lil neighborhood spot. Luv sitting in the BIG outside chairs when the patio is open! The prices can range from average to pricey but its a nice quick spot for a lil dinner date. I would recommend the sandwiches, burgers or chicken

This place is amazing. Not only is the food very good, but the owners and staff make you feel so welcomed. This is supposed to be a site for high spirit activity and I was there for a paranormal dinner. I got the steak with mashed potatoes. The medium well steak that I ordered was juicy and tender. The mashed potatoes were real! Not that fake stuff. Shane, one of the owners is from Ireland and knows the importance of real mashed potatoes! They added a deck to building and often have live music.

The wife and I ate there on Saturday night. Nice décor and the service was excellent. The menu looked great but the food did not quite reach the high expectations we had. I had the shrimp pasta and it was a bit soupy but was pretty ok. My wife had the filet and it was pretty good! A couple of deserts to go and the bill with tip approached $ 100. Was it a solid meal? Yes! Is it possibly the best higher end dining option in Norton/Barberton? Probably. Are there 20 other restaurants in Summit and Medina county with the same price point I would probably try instead? Sad to say… yes. So all in all we are glad we went. If we go again I would stick with the more«pub like» options to get to a more reasonable price point. If I go for the«finer dining» price point I would probably go elsewhere.

First time here was 10pm on a Saturday. They stop serving dinner entrees at 10pm, but my wife and I got a burger and steak sandwich. Food was terrific and the fried green tomatoes were delicious! Server was friendly and knowledgable about the building history and upcoming events. There seems to be a lot going on. There is a large wood slab bar downstairs, but didn’t have time to check it out. Will definitely come back!

After much thought and consideration of my 2 experiences, I want to amend my last review from 2 stars to 3. In short: WCT is a cool and uniquely themed restaurant that you will never find anywhere else. The food is good, I just think my last experience was a fluke and I am certain that the proper steps are already in motion after receiving a private email from the owner. That shows that they do care and are truly in this business to last a long time. I recommend that you do try this place at least once… There is nothing like this around town or in this entire state for that matter. The music might not be for every demographic, just a head up on where to sit if there is a live band playing. Try it out, I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is a new restaurant and that they are still working out its kinks. The server did everything he could our last time, I blame the kitchen for the last mess up, nothing personal… Shit happens. 3 out of 5 stars and hoping the best for this one of a kind place and thoughtful owners. I will return. Nick

Great Food in an OK Setting Décor is a bit odd and it looks dusty but the food was great; good lunch place! I was invited to the Tavern for a quick business lunch. The building itself looks a little run down from the outside and the entry way is dusty with a worn carpet and odd nic-naks decorating the area. The inside shares the«unique» interior decorating quirks; a bicycle on the wall, multiple randomly placed signs and some mis matched chairs decorate the large seating area. Likewise, there’s some cleanliness issues on the ceiling fans and light fixtures. BUT, the reason I go to a restaurant is the food and service. Both were a hit. Our waitress served us quickly, had both orders dead on and offered and supplied everything could ask for. One quirk that the Tavern may want to keep an eye on is the Tabasco bottle I asked for and received did not have the usual pour spout most standard bottles have; it had been removed. As a result, my initial dash of Tabasco resulted in a full tablespoon or more. Fortunately, I like hot food so I soldiered on; however, many diners may ruin their food without first checking the bottle first. I had a standard fare side salad with the house dressing and blue cheese crumbles. Fresh, crisp vegetables and enough carrots, tomatoes, and cucumber to be a real salad, not a bed of greens. The star of my lunch was the Crab cake in my crab cake sandwich. The aioli and roll were fine but the cake had a great consistency and a good char on the outside. Great flavor from a grilled crab cake; not something you can get many places in the area. If there’s anything I would change is a touch more«bite» or seasoning on the cake or aioli itself. The taste was good but somewhat bland until the dose of Tabasco. Overall no real complaints; I highly recommend it for lunch and would love to try dinner with my family sometime.

Four of us for dinner. In brief, it was not horrible, but we were disappointed. I began by telling the waiter that I was to get the check. When it came it was placed between two of us and we almost had an arm wresting session as a result. Would have been better had my request been granted by the waiter — particularly since he had acknowledged my request earlier. The beer list was absolutely excellent. Certainly cannot complain about that!(Ever tried a Jackie O’s «Mystic Mama» IPA? Excellent!) One of us had the salmon and it was reported to have been«good.» Another had the pork chop and he said there was no knife sharp enough to cut it. My spouse had the pasta bolognese and it was good. I had the bangers and pierogies and, while tasty, had the sausage been served hot rather than cold the dish would have been more tasty.(Why would a restaurant serve cold sausage?) All-in all? The place was a disappointment. Would we try it again? Probably(particularly given others’ positive reviews), but we would not invite others again — best not to be embarrassed. Tonight’s experience was not what we had hoped for.

Was joined by six friends the other Saturday eve at Wolf Creek Tavern to try something we love: hamburgers. Had read some great reviews about them and decided to see how their burgers stacked up against some others we’ve tried. First, even in the parking lot you can smell the aroma of food being cooked over an open flame. The interior of the place looks fantastic. Wormy Chestnut is not something one sees much anymore. And it’s lit enough so you can see, unlike some other places where you feel you are in a dark dungeon. Our waitress was friendly and did everything she could to see we had an enjoyable time. They offer craft beers, and even locally produced mead. The burgers range in price from $ 9.00 to $ 11.00, which means they are at the higher end price point. But fries only added another $ 2.00, so overall, pricing wasn’t really that far out of line with other places. I had the 8 ounce Blue Moon Burger. The restaurant was full so there was a bit of a wait for our food to be served, but not out of line from what one would expect when ordering fresh made food(as opposed to some chains that simply reheat pre-made food). Most thought the burgers were excellent. Unfortunately, one person ordered their burger medium rare and said it came«burnt.» When the replacement burger came, it was incorrect(ordered the ¾ pound Tavern Burger, received a half-pounder). I thought my burger was quite good; cooked correctly, juicy, bun nicely toasted. However, I realized after I had finished that it did not have the peppered bacon on it as described on the menu. So I am going to only award Wolf Creek Tavern three stars today. I know they have been open for less than a year, but they are trying to be a higher end establishment so those kinds of slipups just can’t happen. I had a nice vibe while at WCT am not opposed to returning at a later date, and probably will as some of the other things on the menu look fantastic. So I hope they can overcome these snafus and be around for a long time.

Wow! What a cool«new» restaurant! The historic Loyal Oak Tavern reimagined, keeping all the history of the Norton establishement with new owners Amy and Shane! Just another great experience this past weekend. When you go, it’ll be the atmosphere that will keep you there and the food will keep you coming back. Plan on having a unique before or after dinner cocktail in Speakeasy. This place is my new ‘go-to” because Amy, Shane, Hannah, Phil, and everyone on the staff always make us feel right at home!

Wow. What a difference from the old Loyal Oak! The people are great, but more importantly the food is outstanding. Try the pork chop, bangers and mash, ribeye, fish and chips, burgers… all first class. The new owners did something really smart, they hired an excellent chef!

Walked out. 40 minutes after we were seated still no food. We had to wait long enough for our waiter to make initial contact that we had sufficient time to read the menu and make our dinner choices. 25 minutes later our waiters dolt dim-wit dumbass co-worker gave our order to another customer. I heard her tell them what she was handing them and the took it(they’re as dumb as her). It was kind of a unique order. Our waiter explained what had happened and told us 10 minutes. 15 minutes later we threw a $ 5 on the table to cover our cokes and split.

Had a great time here last night! Definitely the highlight of our trip. The speakeasy was super cool and our drinks were delicious. Haley makes great Pink Ladies! The Wolf Creek Beer on tap was a refreshing wisen. Service was quick and attentive, even when they were busy. We were seated promptly for dinner and our server was very attentive and quick. The food was very fresh and classic. I’m especially impressed by the farm-to-table concept and I liked the Irish touches like the colcannon and bangers and mash. I don’t get the reviewers who thought this place was pricey. It was definitely in the range that I would expect for the atmosphere and quality. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area!

Sad to say that my wife and i were disappointed after being so excited to experience a higher end dining place near our home. We had dinner here tonight and the whole ordeal lasted two hours and 45 minutes… and not by choice. If you are looking for a restaurant that has a nice atmosphere where you can talk and relax, this is not the place. The dining area is floor to ceiling wood and you cant hear yourself think. The wait staff was nice, but the bus boys wearing black tshirts, black gym shorts and shin high black dress socks is a bit… umm…something. Not to mention that there were only two waitresses for the entire inside eating area… so we never got plates for our appetizers, everything took forever and there was a real lack of personal attention. Learn how to staff a restaurant. Here’s where it gets bad. I am in sales management and a big part of what I do is entertain and take my customers to dinner, so I eat out on average at least two nights per week. This was perhaps one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Our Fried Green Tomatoes were very good… the wedge salad was delicious… our entrees and drinks took a very long time. My wife had the salmon and I had the bone in pork chop. Its been 40 minutes since we ate and I feel sick and my wife says the salmon is «sitting heavy». How does salmon sit heavy. Her salmon was over crusted and flavorless. My pork chop once I got past literally two bites was so dry and completely white throughout that I couldn’t finish it. I am not a complainer, and I am not one to send food back. I think I have done it one other time in my life but I literally couldn’t eat the chop because I was worried it would get stuck in my throat, not to mention it was flavorless and juiceless. To be fair the bed of carrots, peas and sweet potatoes were very good… albeit a bit heavy on the maple syrup. The worst part is that when the waitress came to check on us, and saw that 80% of my chop was left on the plate I explained that I couldn’t eat it and she told me she would consult a manager. Our server had to ask her manager three times for advice on what to do, and despite our server promising that the manager would come see us, the manager couldn’t see fit to come visit out table, and never did. Our waitress came back and said that because I ate some of the food they would comp 25% to which I said no. She then came back and offered 50%. In the meantime the bus boy refilled my water and when I went to drink it it was now filled with some cloudy and super sweet liquid that I still cant get the taste out of my mouth. By this time we had been there nearly three hours, and when she offered 50% off I was so frustrated and hungry I just wanted to leave. Then we got the bill. and they double charged us for the tomatoes… which they fixed but come on. This restaurant doesn’t know what it wants to be when it grows up. It charges for entrees like it is a fancy place and based on reviewing the menu before we went that was our impression… so we expected a nice relaxing atmosphere with good tasting food that would be worth the $ 70 tab. But that is not what we got. They charge for pricey food, attempt to come across as almost a Gastro pub, had live Irish music while we wait, had oddly dressed staff, and the overall impression made me wonder if this was a bar, a McDonald’s or a fancy sit down place. Pick one and do it well is my advice. Sad to say because I was really hoping that we would have a new local place for good food… stay away if you are expecting really good food, a staff that cares and a relaxing or romantic environment. Stay away!
