Nice place for a breakfast. Service was superb. And breakfast specials were on Saturday

The food is GREAT — The people are wonderful, and the view is nice. Especially on a nice spring/summer/fall day, you can have your meal on their patio which overlooks the golf course. Also, they’re a great place for catering events. We recently had them cater a family funeral, and the food was wonderful — not your average buffet either. The chicken was moist, the prime rib was tender, and the meatballs were, in the words of a teenage nephew, AWESOME! (P.S., thanks to all for catering the funeral.)

This is a mediocre coney. Been there for breakfast and dinner. Neither of the meals were exceptional even by Coney Island standards. Find a better coney to get your meals.

This Senate has the best chicken Greek salad in the Detroit area! I order it at least once a week and I could easily get it more often. The Greek dressing is so good. I have bought a bottle of the dressing for $ 5-well worth it! The salad comes with tomatoes, cucumber, olives(whole), feta, and beets. The carry out salads are a great size too and the large is a dollar more and I can get two meals out of the large salad. George is such a great guy! He opens his restaurant on Thanksgiving for those who have no where to go and when I was there yesterday he had a sign on his door about being there on Easter. Such a great business! As others have said, the restaurant is located on a beautiful setting on a golf course. At any time, the restaurant has a good amount of people eating there. The prices are just right!

The service was not that great. The only saving grace is the owner who was super friendly and accommodating!

We hated this place. The food was average, the staff was unfriendly and slow. They even charged us for ranch.

Thanks for being a friend to those alone on Thanksgiving. I read the viral story of you offering a free meal to those who find themselves alone and wanted to say, «thank you» for making our world a nicer place!

I have been to the Plymouth Rd. location many times. I recently moved about a mile away from this location and gave it a try by ordering carryout. I had the Chicken Gyro sandwich and a half order of fries. Same great quality and taste as the Plymouth location. I believe pricing is also the game. The parking lot situation is weird here, and the layout of the restaurant is odd also. I was surprised to see a full bar inside. I guess this makes sense since it’s inside the clubhouse for the golf course(I think). I will definitely be returning, but I remain partial to the Plymouth road location, which is one of my go-to lunch places. Senate’s chicken tenders are AMAZING. Give them a try.

I would give this place 5 stars but because their waitstaff is so horrible that I can’t do to. The owner, George is a wonderful human being. He is too nice that I don’t think he realizes how rude and sometimes mean his waitstaff is. The food there is pretty affordable and overall really good

Having grown up in metro Detroit and now living in Grand Rapids where there are no good Coney Islands(yet) I get fond memories of happy meals when I think about the senate. It is comfort food at its best. The chili fries here are unlike anywhere else in the world. The chicken tenders on their own or in a pita are the perfect lunch or dinner. The ranch dressing. Yes. Yes. Yes. It’s hard to find amazing ranch and this place has it. Slather everything on your plate in it for a double bonus. The staff is amazing and really makes you feel like family. It isn’t uncommon for me to come here at 9am if I am home visiting family and to hop right into lunch or dinner because it is that good and not worth missing.

Great location and they serve a good breakfast. They are located on a golf course with beautiful views, it feels like a boys club. It’s not overly crowded, which I enjoyed. They have a lot of great seating including many booths that go around the outside of the restaurant. They also have free wifi. Good find, I’ll be back.

This place is literally a Coney Island. It’s ok food at cheap prices. The Greek salad is good and the soups are always pretty good. Other than that very average. I think Ethan needs to chill out with giving 6 different 5 star reviews. 80 check ins seems a bit excessive. We get it, you like chili dogs.

This place isn’t amazing or anything but it does offer reasonably good diner food, good service, and reasonable prices. All in all, not a bad place to get some brunch or an order of fish and chips etc. Seems like George and his waitstaff were very attentive and valued customers. We’ll be back for the occasional diner food/fried food fix.

I call this place an upscale Coney Island. You won’t get the typical«dirty» feel that you get at most Coney Islands. The owner, George, is wonderful! You get a real sense of family when eating here. Best Coney Island I’ve been to!

Much more than a normal Coney Island. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant got a new menu, and among the new things are wraps. I ordered the turkey, bacon and avocado wrap. It was sensational!!! They also added some skillets for breakfast — — — can’t wait to try them . The dinner wines are still excellent and very reasonably priced. Service is still exceptional –especially by Lumi.

Not quite as good as the original on Plymouth Rd… but still a wonderful meal everytime. George is always so welcoming and happy to greet his customers — I love this. My kids are always asking to eat here. Even when it’s crowded(especially after church on Sundays), the wait is never long. I typically stick with the same old order — Small greek with Chicken, but they always get it right.

I think it is fair to start with the good! I like the location of this coney island, it is relatively close to where we live, and an outdoor patio is always a plus. Like others have mentioned, there is a bar available so you can eat your heart out with coneys, fries and a beer — which is wonderful. They have a pretty extensive menu with Greek favorites and some not-so-familiar items, which I think is nice because good Greek food is hard to find. This restaurant is pretty massive, the building is seperated in two different dining rooms. I have a feeling the front room, which is carpeted and looks nice overall is probably available for private parties and such. The back diningroom with views of the golfcourse and which has the patio attached to it, is always open and the one where everyone is usually seated. On several occassions we have ordered breakfast, pretty standard 1−2−3−4 orders of the eggs-meat-hash browns-toast variety. What really irks me however, is when a restaurant offering breakfast on their menu has problems cooking an egg to order, every single time. A standard order of ‘over medium’, that is — nothing fancy. Another pet peeve of mine? Microwaved food. How does one even microwave spanakopita? It’s sacrilege. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that it will become dense, and it will have the seemingly impossible texture of being soggy and dry at the same time. Now my next statement is going to be assumed, but hear me out. I assume that the salad dressing for their Greek salads is homemade, which is awesome if I am right. Props for that. Why I believe this, is because the dressing is inconsistent at best. The last time it was so dang sour I was glad I ordered it on the side. I think that a recipe is followed, but it doesn’t get tasted along the way. All lemons are not created equally. Unfortunately the thing that really bumped this review down from 3 to 2 stars is our last visit. At some point, an extremely loud and profane tirade went on in the kitchen. The owner was going off on some poor soul, for the whole restaurant to hear. I hope that that staff member quit, as nobody should allow themselves to be subjected to such treatment. It made for an extremely awkward several minutes for both the staff and the(mostly older) patrons. The way that this ‘dispute’ was handled was rather offensive and extremely unprofessional whether or not customers were around to overhear(and how could you not), or not. No, I don’t think we will be back any time soon. Leo’s does an awesome job not knowing how to properly prepare breakfast as well, and at least we don’t have to endure unwanted, added entertainment there.
