Have you always wanted to try great fish and chips besides the Olde Kings Head in S. M. This is the best place for it. It’s been here for years(like 50), and they just redid the inside! The three fish ordered were large and filling, came with fries(chips), and costs about $ 8. The batter is perfect. Not greasy compared to others. Tarter sauce, malt vinegar, and lemon are included. There are other items on the menu like oysters and shrimp, fried of course. Family run, cash only; and try to be patient as it does take a few minutes to prepare your order. Your patience will be rewarded. It has about 7 tables for seating, lots of free parking.

Taste: 4 Creativity/Authenticity: 3.5 Atmosphere: 3 Service: 3.5 Bang for your buck: 3.5 Ive seen this place when i was a kid eating at shakey’s pizza and never went in, fish and chips well are just fish and chips to me but for some reason one day that was all i was craving and this gave me the opportunity to finally try this place… man best fish and chips other than the real deal in london; why did it take so long to try this place?! Anyways not much about this place, very plain outside and inside def could use a makeover but its all about the food anyways. Service here is good, not a lot of people so i’d expect nothing short of perfect. Bang for your buck, not to bad def a place to go to if your looking for something to eat but not spend a lot of cash. Overall this is the go to spot for fish and chips in the valley; keep it up!

Been coming here for many years. The great taste is always there. There are some minor changes of the look but it is for improvement. I always order the 4 piece and chip. Whenever I’m really hungry then 21 piece shrimp just hits the spot. Will be back here you can count on me!

Not much curb appeal, but don’t let the looks or atmosphere fool you. Best fish and chips I’ve had in years!!! The fish is moist and tender with a light, tempura like, batter. Not greasy at all! The coleslaw was a good side to go with it. Great prices, friendly staff & yummy food, I will definitely be going back!!!

There aren’t many choices for fish & chips anymore. My Son and I had the fish and chips at this Northridge spot(formerly an H Salt) serves up large fish filets. They owner is very nice and appears to take the preparation of his dishes seriously. This is a cash only to go spot! Yeah, I can eat here once a year. It’s greasy goodness.

This is a great spot for fish and chips. They serve up some nice huge, greasy fillets of fish that are absolutely delicious. The staff is all very friendly and helpful as well.

Waited 15 – 20 min for 4 pcs of fish and fries. With a hungry 3 yr old. Fish came out steaming hot but inside was a little mushy. Tasted good though. Even my kid took 4 or 5 bites. French fries were not good and the ketchup tastes like they mashed up tomatoes and put it through a strainer. Cole slaw was good and I just finished a large container by myself. The place was hot with the fryer at the front of the restaurant. The caveat was no bathroom and my kid started taking his shorts done cause he had to pee. I walked him next door to McDonald’s to use their bathroom. On top of all that their To Go container was a half paper plate with a paper bag. This place is a little hole in the wall nothing like it was 30 yrs ago. Anybody remember the clam chowder soup??! It was so delicious! Everything is so much better in memory

Since as far back as I can recall as a child growing up in the Northridge area I have been coming to this place with my family and friends… they have awesome service fresh and I mean really really fresh fish & chips… A nice small restaurant with really cool owners! I definitely recommend this place to anyone that would like to have some real deal fish & chips! You’re missing out if you don’t go here! If I could give five more stars I would!!!

Now to be honest, I’m not a fish and chips type of girl… way too greasy for me and my stomach just can’t handle it. That being said, the little clam strips are really good and I highly recommend them! The place still gets a good review from me because it’s not their fault I’m not so into fried fish. I know it’s good because my boyfriend loves and it and there’s always a really long line. Highly recommend trying to call your order in ahead of time.

my review on this fish and chip shop: CASHONLY!!! I definetly would’ve tried more stuff if I brought more cash, but: Fish have a nice even batter and for the price, it can’t be beat. you can get alotta pieces, and the pieces are like half the size of the $ 6 pieces you can get elsewhere, about the same quality. great shrimp, definetly would recommend the shrimp, nice flakey batter, get more cocktail sauces cups cuz they have tiny teeny cups. fries are fries, plainly seasoned and nothing to write home about. Again, make sure that cashier tosses like 6 each of those cocktail and tartar sauce cups because you’ll need it. overall: this shop gets a 4 because its right on the center of the curve for quality and price, theres nothing particularly special aside from it being the closest fish and chip to CSUN.

This is absolutely the best fish and chips there is. I have been to England and had fish and chips in many places, but this place has best. The quality and freshness of ingredients. And price is great. I have been coming here for more than 30 years. Might be same owner.

I had the three piece fish and chips with a side of clams. The fish nice in portion and cooked well. There was no over cooked batter protruding from the fish, just all fish. The clams are nice sized pieces, also well cooked. The fries were the not shoestring, more on the larger size and definite more than enough. The downside was not enough clams for the price and it was cash only. In a debit card society, it’s rare to walk into a restaurant that’s cash only. Wasn’t expecting it and had to find an atm near by. Overall, the next time I’m craving the deep battered fish n chip experience. I’ll remember to bring cash.

Mediocre. The fish was fried perfectly but had no flavor. The Fries weren’t done all the way. The tartar sauce was bland. The coleslaw was tasty in my opinion not good enough for me to come back. Its better to eat your food there fresh but it was so hot an stuffy inside that it was hard to be comfortable while eating. There arent many beverages to choose from. You have some canned coke and pepsi products and bottled water. There isnt a public restroom so good luck with that and with washing your hands before eating or simply using the restroom. There is plenty of parking.

Don’t read now, just go and read later. The cook — and I’m presuming owner — is an elderly man, so who knows how much longer this joint is going to be open. The fish is good, the batter even better and it’s all cooked perfectly. No soda fountain and the selection of canned soda was bare — a few cokes and 7-ups. This is the kind of food that I would encourage eating there right after it’s fried, rather than having it as takeout — fried food does not travel well people, it just steams in the bag and sucks. And yes, inside it kinda sucks, not much ambience, not even a window and the décor is non-existent. This place is all about the food and nothing else. And remember, cash only.

Best Fish N’ Chip place I’ve tried thus far for such an amazing price! This place is so generous, and it’s weird because I’ve noticed that restaurants have been getting LESS generous. So it makes this place stand out even more. Someone already posted a picture of the prices, but dang around $ 9 for 4BIG pieces of fish(which comes with chips), is amazing. The batter is actually really good; it’s not thick and overly oily. It’s just perfect. The fries, I might add, could be crispier. But, everyone comes for the fish, not the fries, so I don’t even care! It takes about 15 – 20 minutes for the fish to be made since they make it fresh! It’s a must go; 2nd time here and I love it!

This place is owned and operated by a old Japanese couple. They have no workers other than themselves. We went here on Friday during Lent which wasn’t a good idea. The place was packed which only seats about 10 – 15 people. There were also a lot of people ordering to go and they only take cash. We decided to eat there although it was crowded. Eventually, we got a table after we ordered. We ordered the Fish and Chips along with Fried Calamari with chips. The order took about 20 minutes to be ready. The Japanese couple were so overwhelmed with orders and preparing orders, that it took so long. They didn’t bother answering the phone for people wanting to place to go orders. They basically ignored the phone calls and let the phone ring which I thought was wrong. They should hire some additional help. I kind felt sorry for them working so hard because they were old. When we finally got our order, the Fish fillets wee thick and a good portion. It was very tasty also. The Calamari on the other hand, was just ok. I would definitely return to this place for the Fish and Chips. It’s one if the best tasting Fish and Chips I ever tasted but I would try to avoid Friday’s during Lent.
