Oh I’m so disappointed with this shack it was my first time. I asked for two scoops of ice cream added to my shaved ice, and I dug and dug but still couldn’t see nor taste the ice cream, came to find out that they just add little ice cream on the bottom, then add the ice.smh.my expectations were so different, for Brian’s shaved ice on Ventura blvd piles the ice cream scoops and covers them with the ice… will never go back to Get Shaved again… Brian’s Shaved ice will have to be…

It took 8 minutes to get my order taken. there was no line and there were 2 employees… Finally I ordered, and it took 13 minutes to make my regular #5. I think they need help/more people. Also the employees should be wearing name tags.

Not much to say, it’s just shaved ice. I usually get cotton candy, cherry, and tigers blood. Sometimes there’s only one employee and service is slow especially when groups of students come out of no where. But overall the flavor is good and consistent. I visit this place often throughout the summer

We started looking for a shave ice place near us after visiting Hawaii. While Get Shaved shave ice is not the same as what we had on Kauai, it’s pretty good. Their servers are always friendly and take good care of us and the flavors are tasty, However, and I hope the owners read this, since installing the new, faster shave ice machine, the quality of the finished product has suffered. We’ve been to the Devonshire store three times since the machine appeared, always hoping that the employees will have told the owners how much better the ice was before the spitting shaver and hoping that they would decide to dump it. Shave ice is not supposed to have chunks in it. It is not supposed to be a Sno-Cone. Light and fluffy, more like powder snow, is what we’re expecting and this new machine is taking your product farther away, It’s farther for us to visit Ventura Blvd. but the shave ice outlets there are beckoning. Faster is not always better. We’d rather wait for the good stuff.

I think I’ve waited less in a restaurant than I did here. There were only 3 people ahead of me in line and it took forever. The moment I lost it was when a party of 4 walked in and got attended before I did. My kids were ready to explode. I would have walked out but I had already paid. Kind of stuck. Have this kind of time? Take a plane to Hawaii and get shaved ice there instead!

The hype for this place has really died down. Which is fine with me! Let Them Eat Cake is my favey! There’s really not much to review. It’s shaved ice people.

Cute little stand in the middle of nowhere! I’m not really a shaved ice kinda gal, so I got a UFO cup(the smallest size) with half green tea ice cream and green tea shaved ice. My friend got a UFO size with the Root Beer Dream, root beer shave ice with sweetened condensed milk. You get a huge portion with the UFO size — we had to take a break from it, eat some food from the felafel place next door, and then return to it to be able to finish it! I enjoyed the ice cream part, but I didn’t really care for the shaved ice part. My friend said that his Root Beer Dream was good. I tried it and I thought it was okay, but root beer isn’t my kind of thing anyway. There’s parking in the back. I also checked in on Unilocal to get a free topping, but they never gave it to me for some reason.

Love their Monkey Brain and Rockin Rainbow. Brought some for my younger cousins and they love it. Their shakes and ice cream aren’t as great, but who comes to Get Shaved for ice cream? Their shaved ice are just bombtastic. Definitely would come here again, however, prob will come here by foot since parking is kind of hard to get.

I love the desserts here, they’re always made so quickly even when there’s a huge line of people waiting. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It’s a cool little spot to just hang out in and have shaved ice.

Delicious! Husband and I both had the #4 Monkey Brain and it was very good! They have many different options and combinations. So much flavor in one cup. Service was great, they were fun and friendly. Will definitely come back to try other flavors.

I fell in love with this place fast! My boyfriend and I come here all the time since its right by campus. We get one thing only and it’s the Berrylicious. Their shakes and icecream cookies are good too but their shaved ice is delicious! Sometimes the wait can be long when they get busy but I mean it’s a small place. They only have a few workers that can work at a time and it’s completely understandable. The only downside is that it’s outside so in the winter it’s a cold wait and in the summer there are typically a lot of bees. Nonetheless, we signed up for the rewards program and we get a lot of free shaved ice :)

Ever since I was introduced to this place since the beginning of my college time, I am hooked! I love shaved ice! I love how there is plenty of syrup flavor to choose from and then you can get ice cream with it and top it off with condense milk. I can never forget the condense milk! I usually get mango and blue vanilla as my basics and then the third flavor is always random for me or whatever else I an feeling that day. Sometimes I like to add ice cream and mochi to it. The service is good and the workers are friendly and attentive. On a hot summer day, Get Shaved is the place to go!

A tiny hut that packs a punch of flavor! You can totally drive pass this place because it’s such a tiny location, but you know it’s the place because of its long lines, especially during the summer. If you haven’t been to this place before, I recommend getting Monkey Brains with vanilla ice cream. MINDBLOWN. The sweetness from the shaved ice to the condensed milk to the subtle taste of vanilla ice cream is perfect. The ice is just so fluffy that it’ll just melt in your mouth. I would give this 5 stars, but they don’t really clean up the benches too often, making it sticky for the next people to sit on.

A definite MUST when it’s a hot, hot day in SoCal and you’re in the«real» Valley. This place reminds me of the genuine shaved ice you’d get on the Hawaiian islands. The consistency of the shaved ice along with the selections of flavors is definitely authentic. Not sure what to get? Order the«Monkey Brains» which consists of strawberry, bananas and condense milk. I could eat this every day for the rest of my life. Simple combo, but oh so full of flavor! I’m glad they have a variety of sizes to choose from. The UFO size is more than enough to fulfill your sweet tooth without giving you onset diabetes.

Not bad shaved ice. The ice cream makes it taste decent. I don’t find myself coming here all that often though because I don’t like shaved ice. But counting the two times I did come, it was okay.

Everytime I’m in the Valley, I cannot NOT come here. Their shaved ice is the best I’ve ever had. I always get the UFO size, which is their smallest size for $ 2.99 and still can’t ever finish it. You get to pick three flavors of syrup for free and they have some of the most unique flavors out there. I chose green tea and guava as those are my favorite, but I tried my friend’s taro and was amazed at how tasty it was as well! I don’t think you can go wrong with any pick, but if you’re unsure, the workers are welcoming to help or you can pick some of the most popular pre-chosen flavors. I also recommend their ice cream: toasted marshmallow and macadamia nut ice cream was out of this world. It was sweet but not overwelming and paired perfectly with the shaved ice. Of course, never forget to add condensed milk as your topping –perfect dessert!

Fresh Ice And Refreshing Flavors! This place has never failed to satisfy my cravings for the shavings! Monkey brain is awesome but if you’re looking to try something else, their watermelon or berry flavors are always good! Don’t forget the condensed milk! Friendly staff. Outdoor seating only.

AM I THEONLYONEWHODOESN’T UNDERSTANDTHEHYPEABOUTTHISPLACE? It’s ice and syrup… and not even that good quality. Okay, so they decide to be «innovative» and throw in ice cream at the bottom. But there’s like barely any ice cream, and the huge mound of ice overpowers the taste and texture of the ice cream. I got the ISLANDBREEZE — guava, mango, and coconut shaved ice with added macadamia nut ice cream. Too much guava flavor and way too sweet. Maybe this place tries to imitate the Italian custard and ice trend that was popular a couple years ago, but it doesn’t even come close to its competitors. Beware of the BEES if you come here ppl

After moving to Northridge, I still had a list of places to visit. I have visited the land of pizzas, sushi, and neglected to visit a new genre of desserts: shaved ice. OK, shaved ice has been around for awhile, but for me its a brand new thing. Since I have seen the truck around town and now there is a permanent location, I am going to try out their best item at Get Shaved in Northridge. Located on the southwest corner of Reseda/Prairie next to the Falafel Palace, you will find a small, blue circular shack as if it were to belong near the beach. You’ll see a bunch of tables. I believe there were six to eight tables. You’ll walk up to the counter and see the menus on to the side. I didn’t take a close look at them since it was highly suggested to try the ONE big item on my first visit. Plus, it was circled on the menu board to try right away. Yes, I dare mention it: Monkey Brains! What is Monkey Brains?! I am not exactly sure how the idea came to be, but it sure is a popular item. Its strawberry and banana shave Ice with condensed milk. You can get it in small, medium, and large. You can have ice cream as for the base, but I opted out and tried it straight. I got a Medium Monkey Brains($ 3.98 total). When you get your Monkey Brains, it looks like you just did a full lobotomy on a monkey. The serving is tremendous and very overflowing. Value is well worth it. Now to the taste test. With the Monkey Brain overflowing, I was loving this item like the thousands that come through here. I digged and I loved the strawberry shaved ice portion. Very smooth and almost berrylicious. With the mix of the condensed milk, I couldn’t stop myself. With the bananas, it was lightly flavored, but it completed the strawberry and makes you want to go ape. With every bite, you’d wish you never stopped. Unfortunately, I finished it. At the same time, my own brain stopped working. They may have to make Human Brains from now on… Eeeek!!! I can’t believe Get Shaved started in Northridge more than four years ago. Where have I been? Now, I have to try to the other delicious offerings. I have tried Get Shaved from their truck, but now I am wishing I tried it out from their original beginnings. I wish I tried Get Shaved during the summer. Oh wait… we’re in California. Its always Summer here! You think I write too much? Well, you can call me a Unilocal-O-Holic!
