Um, this place is phenomenal. Seriously, I’m drooling now just thinking about it. This place is set up like your typical fast-casual spot and it’s located in the far corner of the Northridge Mall Food Court. If you’re feeling a bit turned-off about making a trek to a spot that located in a mall food court, you better check yourself because this spot is absolutely amazing and totally worth your time. The concept of the spot is simple — start with your bread, and tell them what you want on it. Think Subway or Chipotle but for grilled cheese sandwiches. They have these neat grilled cheese press things that perfectly grill your sandwich and a wide selection of meats, cheeses, and several types of bread to choose from. The bread gets a light dusting of seasoning that adds a whole other layer of deliciousness to it. I also got a side of cheese fries and they were outstanding. If I had ONE request, it would be that I wished you could get a crust on the outside(like a parmesan crust similar to the Grilled Cheese Truck). All-in-all, really glad to have found this spot and given it a try! Will 100% be back next time I’m at the mall, even if I do fill up on Cinnabon and the free Thai chicken samples they hand out across the food court.

How can this place have almost 5 stars! Maybe I should blame it on the area or people just like to eat crap food. How can you mess up a grill cheese? Well this place sure does. I got the mouse trap and there was no cheese. Also way over priced. This place sucks. Don’t eat here. Stay home and make your own grill cheese. Because that’s what I’m sticking with.

If I could do half stars I would give them 3.5. but 4 didn’t feel exactly right. Let me just say, I am a HUGE fan of grilled cheeses and cheese in general. Anything involving cheese and bread is going to appeal to me. Customization? Now we are talking… I LOVE the concept of this place, but the execution it where it falls a bit short. This is located in the food court of the Northridge Mall. I rarely go to the Northridge Mall anymore and hadnt been over to the food court in a long time. They definitely have a nice and modern store front. I appreciated that they had printed menus as it could be a bit hard to see the mounted menus. The menu is nice with a lot of options; salads, soups, sides, create your own sandwiches, pre made sandwiches, dessert sandwiches and more. The items offered really appealed to my tastes and i had a hard time choosing. I decided to get one of their signature grilled cheeses and add a few of my own items. I got the mac n cheese melt and changed the cheddar to extra sharp cheddar, i also added spinach and sauteed mushrooms for an extra 50 cents each. I appreciated that they let me change the cheese in the description, substitutions are always appreciated. I also ordered a cup of their cheddar tomato«chemato» soup. my order came with a free dipping sauce of my choice and a bit of mixed greens on the side. i picked ranch for my dip and raspberry vinaigrette for my salad dressing. the mixed greens on the side had a little bit of carrots mixed in, probably one of the giant prebagged mixes from costco but it was still a very nice touch when you’re eating such rich food. i had my order to-go, took me about 10 minutes to get home and everything was still nice and warm when i got home. as far as the sandwich goes, i did like the flavor and the ingredients felt fresh, but the edges were pretty charred. they definitely over grilled the sandwich, which is a major flaw to me. i did like the sauteed mushrooms and spinach. the mixed greens were fresh and the raspberry vinaigrette was lovely but i would have liked a little more dressing… the chenato soup was probably my favorite of all. it was a tad too salty but overall i really loved the flavor and i enjoyed dipping my sandwich into it. when i eat at this place, i cant help but compare it to the grilled cheese truck, which i have been eating at since it’s beginning about 8 years ago. The prices are comparable to the grilled cheese truck, this place is probably a little cheaper, but the food at the grilled cheese truck is much better. the grilled cheese truck has more gourmet options across the board… such as cranberry walnut bread, peppercorn bread, brie, sundried tomato goat cheese, fresh apples, fresh pear, etc. this place is definitely a lot more basic. they had white, wheat, and sourdough(thank dog for the sourdough). it felt like they had too many versions of cheddar cheese. they had no feta or goat cheese, no brie, no havarti, no gouda, none of the cheeses i really enjoy other than extra sharp cheddar. there were also no fruit options to add into the sandwiches. the mix of extra sharp cheddar and green apple in a sandwich is just amazing and i cant get that here. i also felt they charge way too much for avocado. $ 1 I’m okay with, but $ 2? i can buy 2 avocados for that price… i took my sandwich home and added it myself. i also felt $ 2 to add any meat was a bit steep… it just looked like deli meat to me, at the grilled cheese truck i can add amazing pulled pork for $ 2 so why would i pay that to add some deli slices of roast beef? the quality of the meet just looked kind of meh… i really didnt care for the fact that everything was displayed subway style in little containers. i get that they want you to choose your ingredients but it just isnt appetizing the way they have the meats and mac and cheese displayed… if the grilled cheese truck was in the area i would go there 100% but this place is very nice due to the convenience of it being stationary and close by. i am certainly interested in trying some of their other products on the menu as they do sound good, especially their dessert melts and mac n cheese with carmelized onions and applewood bacon. i think that they have the potential to be much better than they are. not burning the sandwich should probably be their number one priority… having more cheese options like brie, feta, or goat cheese would be a big step up, and having some more fresh ingredients and having fruit options like pear or apple. they need to step up their game and get on the level of the grilled cheese truck or greenspans grilled cheese if they want to stay in business. overall i did enjoy my food. i will be back, but if they burn my sandwich again i likely wont return. I would like to point out that my sandwich was not greasy at all like a lot of the other reviewers have said, so i am hopeful that they are taking these reviews into account.

I’m a big fan of the grilled Cheese truck so when I saw this place go up I was very excited to give this place a go. Problems I had though. — The Process took a very long time to get my food out. I asked for whatever their specialty main dish was because I didn’t want to pick my own ingredients and I’m not exactly sure what happened but it took about 15 — 20 minutes to get my food out. I think there was probably 4 or 5 people working at the time but it still took forever to get my food and the line of people around me. — It wasn’t exactly cheap or affordable — It tasted nowhere as good as the Grilled Cheese Truck. — Way too much grease or oil on the sandwich which took away from me enjoying this thing. Expectations and reality of what I ate were very different.

As a fan of cheese, sandwiches and well food in general, I had to try Cheddar in the food court of the Northridge mall. I ordered the Philly Grilled Cheese on sourdough minus the mushrooms. I have to be in the mood for mushrooms, and today I wasn’t a «fun guy»… The sandwich was tasty, crispy outside and hot on the edges. The filing in the middle was not so hot, the American cheese was just slightly melted. Anyways, I did enjoy this sandwich and will order the other varieties to try. Thank you,

I work in this mall and was waiting with bated breath for cheddar to open. I went to get a sandwich asap. Very pricey for grilled cheese but I have to say their buffalo chicken is amazing. A few weeks back they introduced a 5 star program which I eagerly signed up for. However when I went there for lunch today they no longer offer it(insert sad face here). And the sandwich today would have got me a free one. Hence the two stars. Very disappointed

Hope you like grease. Me I love a good grilled cheese sandwich. GC is my favorite sandwich. Crispy bread, melted cheese, damn that’s good. So when I was shopping near dinner time and I saw a restaurant dedicated to my favorite sandwich I headed over. I ordered their signature sandwich«The Cheddar». Three kinds of cheese, bacon, onions. Sounds good doesn’t it. Well it did not live up to my expectations. It was greasy. If they renamed this sucker the Exxon Valdez no one would accuse them of stretching the truth. The bottom piece of bread was totally limp and soggy from the fats in the cheese. Did I mention it was greasy? This made the sandwich a bitch to eat as the bottom piece of bread had the structural integrity of a limp noodle. The taste was not bad, but not what I hoped for. The bacon is a mistake(this coming from a guy that likes bacon so much I cure and smoke my own) it was chewy in the middle of a soggy sandwich. Picture putting a slices of bacon inside a serving of lasagna, picking it up the serving of lasagna by hand and trying to take a bite and then you encounter bacon. Good luck. At $ 9 the sandwich is a bit pricy By the way, did I mention it was greasy?

Eating at the mall during the Christmas shopping frenzy is generally rushed with long lines and tired employees. However, when you are just a flat out rude miserable employee you should not even have a job, I asked all about 2 questions and everytime the answer was rushed and rude, the sandwich was horrible and the cheese fries had just one lump of cheese on one side, if you can NOT take pride in your job then why have one?

I’m sorry but I can make a better grilled cheese at a fraction of the price they charge here. I knew this before trying Cheddar but I thought why not give it a try since the reviews are so good. First off, they charge so much just to add meat and it’s not even a generous amount! +$ 2.00 extra — NOT worth it. Then, if you want a refill on soda or sauce other than ketchup like ranch, it’s 55cents extra each! Seriously? Spent $ 23 on 3 grilled cheeses(2 with bacon), fries and a fountain drink and you wanna charge me 55 cents for ranch? Never coming back here again.

Let me just say, yum! I had a macaroni and cheese grilled cheese on sourdough. It was great! The Mac n cheese is creamy, and even with all that cheese it still wasn’t overwhelming. The bread was delicious. The staff was surprisingly pleasant. The two young men were very kind and patient. If you’re at the mall, give it a go!

This place is amazing!!! Get the buffalo chicken grilled cheese. It’s so good and not too spicy. And for all the Nutella lovers out there their Nutella dessert sandwich is the bomb! It’s the best comfort food joint around. If you’re at the Northridge mall you have to check them out.

This is not a traditional grilled cheese. First of all the experience was okay. We ordered the Mac and regular grilled cheese and the regular grilled cheese(or so I thought). We got an order of the tomato soup and the chemato soup. The Mac and cheese grilled cheese was very good. Probably the next grilled sandwich from the bunch. The regular grilled cheese was kind of off-putting. The writing on the menu is white and the background is orange, I should have read closer because it had onion and bacon which is kind of weird. I would have preferred just all the cheese(traditional style) with no additives. The bacon tastes like ham strips not bacon strips which overpowered the entire sandwich. The grilled cheese comes with a cheese skirt which is awesome and doesn’t cost anything additional. The tomato soup was nothin special but was good for dipping. The chemato was a lot better for dipping. Suggestions: get the Mac and cheese grilled cheese with a cheese skirt and chemato soup. Seriously this combo will be the best for those cheese lovers.

Yummmm My New Go to spot in the mall! Grilled cheese Sandwich!!! This place was soooo goood!!! I had the Buffalo chicken melt which consisted of a variety of amazing cheesea, celery, chicken, buffalo sauce! I requested it on white bread and instead of oil I opted for butter. Well hellooo might as well go extra fat since Im having all that cheese. :) Anyhow the sandwich was delicious Josh was super nice and very helpful he gave me the whole spiel on how it works and how I can make my own sandwich and choose my owk toppings however I decided to go with their creation. The Buffalo chicken melt was sooo amazingly good!!! It was sooo ooooeyyy goooeyyy and just melt in your mouth goodness. I ate is so fast that I forgot to even take a picture of it. Ooopps!!! The sandwich was sooo crunchy too the cheese was melted outside of the bread and so crispy which was the best part!!! I also got a side of their soups I got the chammato soup. Its a mixture of tomato and cheddar soup. Gawdddd damnnnn this stuff was good!!! Superrr good. All in all a greattt experience I loved it sooo much and I definitely will be back to try more of their creations. The only thing is the price 13 bucks for sandwich and soup a little steep for me but overall was good and I highly recommend. I will most definitely be back. This place is located in the Northridge mall food court 2nd level!

Went there for the soft opening. Had the«cheddar» and the Mac and cheese. Both were delicious. I had no idea what a cheese skirt was until I ate there, but boy will I request it on every grilled cheese I have in here on out(my private chef aka girlfriend might be a little pissed but whatever). Now I know what you’re thinking: «why should I listen to a review from a guy who learns about fine cuisine from a restaurant in a shopping mall food court?» This is why you should listen to me. First, I have a college degree and am in law school so I’m hella smart and shit. Second, I’ve traveled the whole world. Literally. All of it. And I’m a connoisseur of all things sandwich– specifically of the grilled cheese variety. While traveling, I’ve spared no expense in tasting what each nation has to offer in the way of grilled cheese competition and I am convinced that, thanks to Cheddar, America takes the gold hands down. And that’s impressive because we all know how much the Party backs competitors in China. So pretty much this restaurant is like the miracle on ice(Google it), except about something important. I highly recommend the Diablo sauce. That is all.

At the end of the day, it’s an expensive grilled cheese. Mine wasn’t crispy enough and it was kind of greasy. Not bad, but not better than what you can make at home for $ 1.

Yum. So delicious. Loved my sandwich, loved the homemade chips. I got a sandwich with mozzarella, basil, and tomato. Really yummy. Didn’t feel greasy at all. Very generous portion of chips as a side. With drink, meal was less than $ 10, and very much worth it. The employees also seemed more cheerful than some of the other food court places. I’ll be back for sure.

The food looks so good. A dedicated eatery for a classic sandwich of our childhood comfort food. They have options to create your own or select from chef choices. I had to go try out the signature choice«The Cheddar» sandwich with the«Cheesecake Melt» dessert. The thing is they take there time making the sandwich so you have to bare the wait. I say its worth it.
