Lavender cold brew with organic soy milk? What a unique combination of flavor a that balanced out my palette so well I was tempted to order a second to take away. Just as many people come in to order a coffee to dine in or take away as they do to order freshly sealed bags of coffee beans to take home so they can brew a cup of happiness at their own leisured pace. This local coffee shop is tucked away but it’s a hidden treasure for the Valley area

Best coffee shop in LA! Great drinks, great service and we buy our beans here as well. They know us now and ask us if we want«the usual». They have spoiled us as coffee anywhere else just tastes nasty. Once in a while they have some laid back bands jamming in there too. Great spot.

Came here for the first time today. My friend and I were looking for a pick me up and came across this gem of a place. It’s the perfect place to go and grab some coffee. From the moment you walk in, you could smell the amazing coffee. I had the lavender vanilla iced latte. It was delicious! My friend had the salted caramel and that was yummy too. Friendly staff and very helpful. They have free wifi for those who want to get some work done. Plenty of parking. Overall, great experience. Will definitely be back again.

For a girl that doesn’t drink much coffee, I sure find myself at a lot of coffee places… I had their lavender latte, the guy was sweet and warned me that if I didn’t like it, I could let him know and he’d change it… If you don’t like FRESH lavender, then beware. I thought I liked FRESH lavender, I usually like the lavender flavor but it was not as expected. Nevertheless, he was true to his word, and made me another drink. I’m definitely a fan of their salted caramel iced latte … Now like I mentioned before, I don’t drink much coffee-I get anxiety from it and feel all jittery, but I like the coffee flavor. So I like my drinks super sweet and creamy. I am not a Coffee connoisseur. But I definitely liked this one. Ambiance: chill, casual, café-esque. Quaint. Free WiFi available. Great study or work environment. Excellent service! Parking: ample parking in the shopping plaza lot. Seating: self seating. Indoor and outdoor seats available.

I made a trip back to Barclays after 20years. I think their coffee is better than Starbucks pike peak coffee.(Pike smells like manure and tastes awful.)So if your near Northridge stop at Barclay’s Coffee. You won’t be disappointed!!!

It was my first time coming in today, literally just ordered a small Mocha Borgia and for some reason it seemed as though my order just whiffed away. Of course, I give the baristas time to actually make it but when I saw a lady who came after me get her order first I began to get concerned. As I approached the counter a nice customer said that my ordered seemed to be forgotten. The guy(the person who took my order was a girl) at the counter looked at me and asked me what I ordered. There was no apology for my forgotten beverage. He just said«It’ll be ready in two minutes» the tone of his voice was just cold, as if I did something rude to him. As the day went by he was incredibly nice to other customers, esp the regulars and I wondered if he just didn’t like me. The drink turned out to be incredibly delicious and it’s a nice place to study with their oldies music playing in the background.

Iced Earl Grey Latte! It’s amazing! Super creamy, sweet and fragrant! It was a drive from the 101 but well worth it! I wish they had a location in OC because I would definitely be there everyday! Just get it and thank me later.

LOVE this hidden gem! In an area filled with Starbucks’ on every corner, I am so glad I stumbled upon Barclays! Their coffee is delicious and the baristas are always friendly! I’m not a fan of spiced chai lattes but their iced version is really good. Their iced vanilla latte is also good, and even their hot coffee! None of that burnt coffee flavor.

My latest trip to Barclay’s was my second time. I don’t remember what I got the first time because it was so long ago. This time I got a iced latte with almond milk. I used the Unilocal check in and got 20% off. It came out to about 3.50+ The taste was okay. It was nothing spectacular. I was browsing the menu while I was waiting for my drink. There’s wide variety of drinks you can choose from as well as pastries and snacks. I think I’ll come back to work or read. It has a very comfy, homey atmosphere. The employees were nice too. I’m giving it 4 stars because I liked the atmosphere and service and because I only had one drink to base the taste on.

Love this place! Found it when I commuted to this area for training. Love spending my mornings here before work reading and relaxing the mind. Great service, awesome vibe. My favorite everyday was the Vanilla Chai latte. Love that they have books for you to pick up and read as well. Keep it up guys!

I always saw this place and eyed the Iced Earl Grey Latte here on Unilocal but never tried it until I moved right around the corner. Now I crave it and try to get it once a week. I will choose a smaller coffee shop over Starbucks, most days. They are SO friendly and sweet here. The Iced Earl Grey is delicious, rich, SUPER creamy and refreshing. I also love the Iced Salted Caramel Latte but beware, it is actually pretty salty yet still balanced. I like it more when a little ice melts, have to be in the mood for it! The Mocha Borgia(Mexican Mocha) is also great. Oh and the Chai Lattes! I am usually not very into Chai but they are so smooth and perfect at this spot. I recommend stopping in to try!

Stopped in here yesterday when my friend and I wanted to get a good writing session in without having to go back to Starbucks. The interior is small but comfortable, with a good amount of seating and free wifi. I ordered an iced lavender vanilla latte, and it was delicious. Not too sweet, and very earthy. It was my first time ever having a lavender vanilla latte from anywhere(I know they’re all the rage in other coffee shops) and it was delicious. Definitely would order again. I don’t really live in the area, but if I ever come back to Northridge I’ll be sure to come here again. It’s a great small business in a little strip mall and I’d highly recommend it. Great drinks, great baristas.

Came here spontaneously to catch up with a friend over a cup of warm coffee. Except for a few students sitting on their laptops there wasn’t much going on which was neat because we ended up having a nice, long conversation with the baristas about their coffees, other competing shops, and the combinations that separate Barclay’s coffee from others. We also got a whiff of their fresh lavender which smelled amazing. The prices are a little higher than my usual smaller local coffee shop experience(4.95 for a medium Mocha Borgia — with Mexican chocolate. mmmm), but on the other hand the interior was fairly modern and they had a little library with different types of books(!) for spontaneous reading. Our coffees took an unusual long time. Could depend on one of the baristas appearing to be fairly new to the position, or that they just happened to put extra much love into preparing our orders. Either way be aware of that if you’re in a hurry. We arrived in the afternoon when it was still warm outside and ended up staying for 2+ hours, by which time the AC got to me. I tend to get cold easily but nonetheless I encourage bringing an extra layer if the plan is to stay longer than just for a quick caffeine injection. Overall a calm and cozy environment to get some work done or simply relax from a stressful day. Thumbs up! :)

I love supporting small local businesses like Barclays. The ambiance is very low key & chill; I’ve seen people of all age ranges here which is refreshing. You’ll see CSUN students studying, to people having coffee dates & elderly aged folks reading a book. Everyone is sipping on their coffee or tea and minding their own business :) I’ve tried several drinks here so far but my favorite has got to be the iced Mocha Borgia. It reminds me a little bit of Champurrado(chocolate based Mexican drink) but much thinner in taste. If you’re a fan of cinnamon & chocolate, the Mocha Borgia is for you. I also like ordering the hot Salted Caramel Latte with almond milk on a cold day. It’s extra nutty in flavor with a hint of saltiness to balance it out. Extra substitutes are $.50 more such as: espresso, vanilla, hazelnut, caramel, raspberry, sugar free soy milk & almond milk. I know they also sell coffee beans & tea leaves so don’t be afraid to ask one of the friendly associates or baristas for assistance.

Nice and friendly staff. First time there and the guy behind the counter was really helpful. He recommend the most ordered latte. I ordered the lavender vanilla latte with almond milk and less sweeten. It was good. I’ll be back if I’m in the area again. I want to try their other signature drinks. Fyi: I was told they make their own lavender.

Unilocal challenge 2015. 159⁄365 So wanted to love this cute little coffee house located in a huge strip mall off Tampa and Parthenia in Northridge. This is not my stomping grounds, so I depended on Unilocal to steer me to a place to get my fix. There were cute tables, BOOKs!!! I love books!!! I was so excited. And then there were 2 very un-enthusiased workers and 3 very inpatient customers waiting. Cashier and Barista was not as friendly as others raved about at all. In fact they were in desperate need of an expresso IV. One of the reasons why I chose this place over another place was due to the excellent bubbly service. No bubbles today. Maybe she called out. Service is slow. Some customers were waiting 20 minutes plus. In fact at one point a hairstylist came looking for her client because she was gone 20 minutes, and asked the Barista to bring her drink to the salon for her. The other customer said she had been waiting 20 minutes as well and said«these girls are clearly new» and told me to «watch my clock» Once the customers cleared out, and it was just me I swore the employees were talking smack about the Hairstylist and that she had some nerve. My 2 drinks were done in about 13 minutes. Upon entering, I was never really greeted, or aknowledged. I started counting in my head, 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississppi. I smiled and finally got their attention. Never asked if I had questions, she just stood there. No small talk what so ever. The menu stated 3 sizes, but apparently they offer 2 sizes. The 2 girls were busy chit chatting the whole time. I learned all about their Friday night, I learned about their schedule, the phone calls they made, they were talking about the boss. I also heard one say they basically need to watch what they say to people, or its going to get them into trouble. I heard it all. It was definitely social hour for them. My iced salted carmael lattee was really good. Not the best, but I was inpressed. However it was served in a thin plastic cup with a cracked lid with an ice shortage. I prefer my iced drinks with a lot more ice. The expresso was very smooth, the carmael added a sweet finish. I ordered the beast of mine a iced white chocolate mocha. His drink to, lacked the ice. He enjoyed the sweet chocalatly drink and said«not bad» Upon leaving was the only time I felt any warmth. The employee walked my 2 drinks over to where I was sitting, smiled and thanked me. I dont know, but independent coffee shops are all about the service. That is what makes them a step above chain houses. They should have a wealth of knowledge, enjoy coffee and be able to convince customers that their coffee is the best. During my visit, service was obsolete, energy was low and I was not happy. Coffee is 4 stars, but service and amphtosphere is no bueno. Unilocal check in gave me a small discount, 2 drinks came to $ 8 and some change. Maybe I came on a off day, and perhaps the Barista was out of her MoJo. Just be prepared to wait. #654
