My mistake at Levee was ordering a steak at a restaurant that doesn’t specialize in steaks. The cocktails were great. The appetizer and sides were good, but the steak was one of the worst I have ever had. First, I ordered it medium rare when it came out it was well-done. I sent it back, but when it came out the steak was super tough with little flavor. It really was rare. It was clear that the cooks didn’t know how to cook a steak. However, I liked everything else at Levee and will report back if try something different and adjust the ratings. The service was good and we sat out on the deck which was nice. Recognizing that they don’t specialize in steak I will go back and try something different on the menu.

First of all, our server was super, she’s a really nice person and was polite and efficient. However, when the orders came out, mine was wrong. Since it would delay everyone else eating and their food would get cold, I decided to go ahead and accept what they gave me. I took a bite of the sandwich and found a large human hair. It was neither mine nor anyone else in our group(or the server’s) because of the color. Our server took it back with apologies and offered something else for free, but I was so nauseated I could not have eaten it. Instead I ate nothing. She showed me the ticket and she had entered my order correctly. It’s going to be a long time before we go back.

Slow and inconsistent service. I had the southern fried chicken, which was pretty good, but the sides were obviously reheated and slightly cold.

We went for lunch while attending my daughter’s graduation. The food was great and the service was excellent! After graduation it was late so we returned with friends for supper. It was even better than lunch!!! We will definitely be back. Kent was our server and we could not ask for more!!!

Loved this place– food and service was excellent. Hush puppies were the best we have had. Loved the fried pimento cheese balls. We were a party of six and everyone loved their entrées.

The Levee is a highly underrated place on the lakefront in T-Town. We came after the A-Day game and it appeared that most folks were at Dreamland next door. We sat outside on the patio and had a peaceful water view. Our server was very nice & attentive, and he gave good recommendations. The food prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were very big. Highlights for us were the crab claws and the fried shrimp. We liked the Levee and will definitely come back.

Had dinner here with the parents. Service was excellent, however the food was sub par. Steamed broccoli was too soft, shrimp were overlooked, salmon was a couple days old, tilapia was too fishy. Hush puppies were great, spinach salad was great, and wedge salad was good. It was Aday weekend so will perhaps try again when less people are in town.

So glad my date took me here. The food was delicious and fairly priced. I got mahi mahi fish tacos and they were probably a third of the price of the same dish at Chuck’s. Also you get hush puppies before the meal and I’m on s diet, but couldn’t resist their greasy goodness

This place may look nice, but it’s over priced, especially for the quality. The 20 dollar New York strip was crispy and hard on the outside and barely cooked past rare on the inside(I ordered it medium rare). There was too much gristle and fat to eat a few bites and what I could swallow was under or over cooked. The macaroni and cheese was terrible, extremely dry, and topped with dry parmesan to accent the overall dryness they must’ve been going for, there was no flavor and I couldn’t eat it. I didn’t finish the steak either… The hush puppies were really good. If you want a quality meal that’s romantic it isn’t here, because a poorly cooked meal will never be romantic.

My wife and I had lunch here today, and it was fantastic! We started with calamari, which was perfectly prepared. It came will a sweet & spicy dipping sauce. Love the hushpuppies and hot rolls they provide with meals! Norma had shrimp and oysters, and I had the grouper fried in tempura batter. We divided everything and we thoroughly enjoyed our scrumptious seafood platters! :) Everything was delicious! I highly recommend The Levee!

The two greatest advantages that Levee has over its competing restaurants is the view and space. The view is beautiful at night. The restaurant is also made to hold huge parties and crowds, so it was no wonder that our waiter handled 12+ separate checks without any difficulties. He did a fabulous job handling a a bunch of picky eaters(example: «can I not have that cooked in butter») and customizations. Maybe it’s the holiday season or I’m trying to suppress the Unilocal elitist in me, but I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Levee. It’s easily one of the prettiest and most romantic restaurants in Tuscaloosa and Northport. It comes at a price, and that price is a spectacular view of the Black Warrior River. My salmon with extra, extra broccoli was $ 16 and it definitely felt like $ 16 worth of food. The salmon was fatty and wholesome. However, the broccoli was the real winner. It felt like it was cooked to perfection, and it tasted like fluffy vegetables. Levee’s prices are worth its value. I definitely fell into a pleasant food coma once I got home.

Really want this place to succeed… had dinner there this week because I wanted some raw oysters… ordered a dozen and they arrived… small, dark and not clear at all. A couple shouldn’t have been put on tray… Almost not edible… Had to be a little old… A seafood place even in Ttown has to serve decent fresh oysters or not at all. I understand it’s a crapshoot buying them as a restaurant owner… Had their ribeye and it was middle of the road… will give them one more chance but probably just lunch…

When Cypress Inn started changing things last year during the football season, we knew we needed to find a new place. Someone this year suggested The Levee and I’m so happy they did. Turns out, the old chef at Cypress is here at The Levee and he brought several of his dishes with him. The menu is wonderful. I love that they have oysters and crab claws! For dinner I got the crab cakes and my husband got the scallops. The scallops were PERFECTLY cooked(and you can overcook a scallop in a second) and my crab cakes were delightful. The steamed asparagus was great. The red beans and rice left me confused. Their version had tomatoes in it and tasted like gumbo… with beans. It was good, but not exactly what I was expecting. The restaurant is on the river and the view is nice. There are tables outside. The inside was clean and decorated well enough… the spacing between the booths is very ample. It was relatively quiet for a Friday before game day. I’d go back!

I’m giving them 2 stars because I understand that it was very crowded when I went so I’m sure the kitchen was slammed. They were able to seat our party of 10 pretty fast given that it was graduation weekend. However, my pasta that I believe was supposed to have a cream sauce was very oily and my dads burger was very over cooked. On the bright side, the shrimp dip was really good and my moms tuna was amazing.

I have been now three times and I can say that I am absolutely in love with this place. First off the staff is always super nice and attentive. Next, CRAWFISHTHURSDAYS!!! Their crawfish are delicious, spicy, fair sized and at a decent price. The bar is what I’ve frequented the most for the crawfish, but I can say the same about the dining side as well. I had a seafood pasta dish the first time I was here and it was wonderful. I hope this place stays because I’ve always enjoyed this magnificent view they have to offer. And crawfish. Can’t forget the crawfish.

Tried this place for lunch and had the blackened tilapia. It was pretty good, so tried them for dinner only to find out can’t get tilapia for dinner. Ordered tuna, and it had an unappetizing twang. Our dinner salads finally arrived after our meal was served. Water glass stayed empty most of the night. Won’t be going back

This has been a few places before(steamers, wintzell’s) Now it’s the Levee. The view is always pretty and tranquil. Let’s talk about the staff and service first. We were very well taken care of, our drinks never more than half empty and several different people walked by other than our waitress and checked on us. So A+ on the service. Now the food. We ordered an appetizer of calamari that came out quickly and on time. They were melt in your mouth lightly fried rings and honestly some of the best I have had. I thought then this was going to be excellent! Hmmmm, well it wasn’t. I got the pan seared crab cake and wasn’t that impressed. While it was full of crab meat it was lacking in the sweetness of the crab and the way it was seared it had a «the pan was to hot when you seared it» taste and all I could think of was Salmon croquettes(which is on the menu). So fishy with a almost burnt taste is a good description. See pictures for visual. FYI, one medium sized cake is what I got for lunch. My guest had the seared Tuna salad. The salad and the dressing was really good, fresh greens, plenty of walnuts and grapes for texture and sweetness. The Dressing was a wasabi vinaigrette that was mild, sweet and just enough wasabi to dance on the pallet without it being offensive. Now this brings me to tuna. I have eaten tuna all my life and cook it quite often and this was not up to snuff at all. Anyone that eats tuna knows that they know that tuna is eaten rare maybe even medium rare. My guest asked the waitress how it was cooked and he got the polite response of «how ever you want it» so he likes it Medium rare. A seared tuna is evenly cooked on all sides and sliced with a razor sharp knife to keep it from looking like it went through the grinder. Unfortunately the chef didn’t know this. Unevenly cooked to a good dried out medium and I think they used a butter knife to slice it.(here again see photos). I believe in second chances and will definitely go back even if it is just for the Calamari but I am staying away from the two items we had. Let me also go on to say that we went here for lunch so I have no idea what the menu is like at dinner but lunch is going to be between $ 10 to $ 15.
