Southdown MarketPlace

Much to my surprise, I can change my former two-​star review into one a little more positive. After a few emails back and forth, Southdown MarketPlace in Northport SOMETIMES carries vegan options, including Daiya vegan «cheeses,» Field Roast Italian «Sausage» and hotdogs. Okay, they’ve priced them higher than places such as Whole Foods and Wild By Nature, but I find it convenient to shop in a smaller neighborhood-​type store rather than the always-​crowded supermarkets.
Once again, the store looks great, the staff is friendly, the vegetables nicely arranged (although I’d love to see more organic choices). I’m particularly happy that Southdown responded, although half-​heartedly, to my request for vegan fare. Times are changing. They’ll catch up one day. Luckily, I work two minutes away from a Wild By Nature, which is much much better.

Excellent selections of poultry/​meats, cheeses, organic foods, fresh veggies, and farm fresh items. Very friendly staff too. Kind of a mini Fairway though not as maddening to shop at.

Great selections, fresh produce, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I’m especially fond of the quality and prices of the prepared dishes. I’ll definitely return.

I shopped at Southdown Marketplace in Northport and although there is a nice selection of organic produce and prepared foods the overall feel of the place is confused due to the mostly non English speaking staff. Beware at checkout because most sale items listed on the flyer scan at full price. My $ 67.00 tab was actually only $ 55.00 after I returned to adjust receipt for sale prices. Sigh, in this economy we can’t afford to be careless.
