Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by the friendly staff and escorted to your table. A container full of warm tortilla chips and delicious salsa is brought out almost immediately. The salsa is obviously home made. The fresh ingredients in the salsa really pop with each bite. The warm crunchy tortilla chips and the salsa are obviously made for each other. The fresh tomatoes and cilantro are the stars in the salsa. It has the perfect amount of heat. The saltiness is well balanced. I was here for lunch and ordered the stuffed sopapilla smothered in red Chile(with extra cheese). I know that some of you will ask what a stuffed sopapilla is doing in a Mexican restaurant since traditionally stuffed sopapillas are from the Northern New Mexico region. I spoke with the owner’s daughter, she told me that her mother is originally from New Mexico and decided to keep it in the menu(good choice) after taking over the restaurant.. I had the wonderful option of red or green chile. The red chile lacked heat but otherwise had good flavor. The red chile tied the stuffed sopapilla together. Each bite had the perfect balance of beef, red chile and the beans and rice. The shredded beef, seasoned and cooked to perfection and the red chile paired perfectly with each bite. The home made beans and rice, evened out the sharpness from the cheese. The whole meal was very well orchestrated and played delicious music to each one of my taste buds. The only thing I can say about my meal is, holy cow, very delicious. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. Be aware however, that this is on the authentic side. If you are accustomed to Casa Bonita, Tres Margaritas or even that new place called Tequilas, which by the way is having an identity crisis, those of you who have been there should know what I mean. I feel sorry for you, that is not real Mexican food… Mi Tierra keeps it authentic from the service to the food and drinks. This is a restaurant that even«Mi General»(Pancho Villa) would spend his hard earned pesos on… Five Stars easy. Keep up the good work Mi Tierra!!!
