Great tavern, excellent service and fabulous food and lots of characters. I had their homemade lasagna and it was so good, they topped it with a béchamel sauce. they have a section at the bar«the bar association» where all the guys come after work and have a beer and kibitz. These midwestern people are very family oriented.

I don’t usually write reviews but I was so impressed with this place that I just had to. I came in after seeing one of my coworkers eating one of their sandwich in the lunchroom. I have a particular diet and often make special requests for my food to be made a certain way. Many times I get weird looks or hesitancy from the people that I place my order with but not at this place they just went with the flow and I got exactly what I ordered. I got a Reuben sandwich with no bread. And you have a choice of sides to order including the healthy option of sauteed spinach and mushrooms which is what I chose. The server was friendly the food came out quick and it was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. I will certainly be back and hope all the rest of the experiences are just as good as this one. The only thing that I almost removed star for was the proximity of the dining area to the bar area and even though it was only mid afternoon there was some loud patrons with foul language that was slightly irritating but that’s not something that they can really control.

All I can say is get the pot roast sandwich… or the burger… and the coleslaw… Today was one of those I-need-a-tasty-sandwich kind of days after a long morning meeting. It was also one of those days where I was feeling completely indecisive and was just so hungry I couldn’t make a restaurant decision to save my life. After driving around, and almost stopping at a few other places, the magic restaurant ended up being Stormy’s – my colleague’s local neighborhood stop. What a treat! I expected it to be a little dirtier, being a bar and all, but it was clean and old, cool and nostalgic in feel. In fact, it reminded me of being a kid and going to the one restaurant in my grandparents farm town where everyone ended up for dinner on a special night out. We sat at the bar and ordered up from the full menu. Walking in, my colleague mentioned something about the ribeye sandwich, which I totally had my heart set on until… dun dun dun. There it was. Like a shining star, the magic pot roast sandwich called out to me and saved my hungry day. On a kaiser-type roll with melted provolone cheese and lots of sides to choose from, I opted for the coleslaw, which ended up being a major win. The sandwich was piled high with meat, so tender and rich I ended up taking half the sandwich home. The coleslaw was honestly some of the best coleslaw I can remember having in a super long time. It was nice and creamy, and with a hint of added salt, it instantly became the *cream of the crop*(bad farm humor to go along with my earlier comment). Truth? Stormy’s coleslaw is now my new favorite slaw. The bar area is separate from another dining area. In the bar they have lots of TVs for those wanting to come back and watch a game. Great neighborhood gem. I’ll be back!

Great wings, nice beer selection, but small place. Visited Saturday evening, sat at a table in the back and had people bouncing off me throughout my meal.

Above average bar and food, below average service. I’ve been here about a half dozen times for drinks and dinner. For a bar the food is excellent and there is plenty of beers on tap plus a full bar. Not much more you can ask for out of a place like this except one thing… service is sub par. Every single time I walk in I have to practically grab a bartenders arm to give my drink order and get a menu. If they improve the service I would rate this 5 stars.

Great food! Definitely try the Pulled Pork or Pot Roast sandwich. Both are amazing. I also love the layout and service was friendly. Wish I lived closer and could be a regular.

It’s a dive bar so it is what it is. Fine place to come for a beer and obviously has its regulars so it can’t be all bad. But for me I don’t get the appeal. The food is subpar, the TVs are not great and hard to see from most angles and the bartenders are just there to pour a drink. After forgetting why I haven’t been back I eventually return, I have a beer or two and move on to somewhere else.

Stormy’s is the best place to eat in town. Everything about it is great– especially the BBQ every Sunday. Honestly, it’s some of the best pulled pork and ribs I have EVER had. Definitely worth every penny for a slab or two, and the BBQ sampler is great for the entire family. If you’re ever in the area looking for a great, family friendly bar/grill, Stormy’s is the place for you!

If you want to sit at the bar and be ignored this is the place for you. You can go and sit at the bar and the bartenders will walk by look at you and walk away. I have not seen a more unfriendly place. Oh yea. Expensive!

I went there on Sunday because I had a taste for ribs. I bought a full slab, which I thought were a little pricey– but when I got home I realized, for me, it was two full meals. I grew up on the southside and had ribs in all shapes and sizes. These surpassed all expectations, on all levels. The smokey flavor was done by someone who knew what they were doing. I’m very excited to try the rest of the Sunday barbecue menu!

Stormys is our late night jam. We work at trifecta in winnetka so after work when we’re looking top have an after work drink(or three) we always stop in. All the bartenders are pretty cool and their prices are decent for the area. I haven’t really tried their food, although I did get quesadillas and they were good, but it’s kind of hard to screw up a quesadilla. Thanks for being our late night spot.

Fine casual family place or a good place for a beer and pizza with the buddies to watch sports. Great range of beer selections and the staff is attentive. By definition, this place can’t get 5 stars, but a solid 4. Quality food.

Nice neighborhood joint that has finally been cleaned up from the previous owners. Gone are the speed freak servers and bartenders with half their teeth missing. Typical bar food menu. Decent pizza and wings. Daily specials. There is a separate dining area for families and they now have outdoor seating. Lots of TV’s and very cold bottles of beer.

Service is excellent here and I really like the floor plan layout of this place. It’s got a rectangular shaped bar in the middle of the floor with plenty of seating and great spacing on the TV’s, which are actually close enough to you to be able to watch a hockey game comfortably. Same with the two dining room areas, as it’s easy to view a sporting event from every seat in the house. I had a burger that was decent for bar food, nothing to write home about. But I did like that you can order tots or sweet potato fries instead of regular FF. I’d like to try the pizza and some other items on the menu before I can completely comment on the food.

Great burgers in town. I love the casual bar area with the big tv screens. The dining area is simple and casual and perfect for families with messy little ones. The menu prices are reasonable and the service is usually pretty good.

Stormy’s serves 2 purposes: It’s a go-to lunch spot in the day for local executives and retired elderly looking for tasty fries; and a burger or ruben. Secondly it’s a hole-in-the-wall sports bar with wood paneling for walls and giant TV screens which hang from them like beer cans fastened to a sports cap, united by a straw. Only the TV screens are hung so men can bark at them every time some spandex pants clad athlete scores a point. There’s a large bar to your right when you walk in; and crowded tables and chairs to your left. If you have to bring your rugrats, there’s a tiny area with video games fit for teaching children how to bark at a screen when a point is made, or a life lost. This might keep them distracted for five minutes; that is, once they get bored with your cell phone. I wish this place had booths or more private seating away from the noise of the televisions. I even wonder how the old people hear each other. There’s really no other reason you’d frequent this bar unless you lived or worked in the area. For bar food, it’s pretty decent. I always love a place that offers the option of tater tots as an alternative to fries. I feel like their burgers are the perfect size and you aren’t wondering what happened to the hamburger patty between the buns. I think their buns are made from an egg batter because the bread was moist, and I like how it kind of collapsed and molded around the tasty ground meat. The cheese they used was real cheddar, not american cheese delivered to my table, cold and unmelted and practically teetering on top of the burger. I’m really weird about eating burgers. I like to dip them in ranch dressing. The way my burger was made was perfect for dipping. Putting condiments on my burger will make the bun soggy. I also don’t like how they will squirt out if you squeeze your burger too hard. I rather enjoyed my lunch here. I’m also a fan of low-lit restaurants during the day. This place did a good job of keeping the sun out of my face while I ate. If it weren’t for my friend; I would have never driven all the way out here. If you’re local and have never been here, I recommend that you visit if you need something to ward off your hunger; or a hangover. Remember, this is a sports bar so don’t expect anything fancy!

Decent place. Booze was neither cheap nor overly expensive. Not much in the department of specials. The clientele seem to range fairly well and the service was speedy enough, though it was a pretty chill night so may have to do with it. The food looked pretty good but didnt get to sample it so maybe i will have to return at least for that. They have pretty ample room and an outdoor seating area along with an indoor game room with 2 or 3 arcade games and a claw machine. All in all it seemed like an ok place and is definitely worth another shot for a better perspective.

This place rocks! A great third place close to home. We were actually headed to the Happ but noticed Stormy’s when we parked. Upon walking in the place was packed, adults and families. Grabbed two seats at the bar. The wife orders a fat tire and I ordered a smithwick. Person brings me the smithwick and says the tap just ran out so I can have that one on the house. He gives me a sample of another beer on tap that he recommends and I get one of those too. I am not in this joint five minutes and already I’m digging it. Plenty of sports on the TV this night, bulls, sox, cubs, hawks. A real interesting and lively mix of folks on a Friday night. Some guy has a hair helmut that I never quite get over. The best way to describe it is darth vader helmut but gray. For food we order the nachos and the parm garlic wings. Both do the trick and do not disappoint. Prices are reasonable, much more so than I expected given it’s location. Way to go Stormy’s, we will be back.

I came here with a friend for some food and a drink after work on a Thursday. Oddly, I had trouble finding a parking spot(there’s a lot in back of the place). The inside looks kinda like a log cabin. Lots of paneled wood. Everywhere. We walked in and weren’t sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves. The bar was to the right and a restaurant-y seating area is to the left, in a separate room. We decided to just seat ourselves. The waitress came over with menus and took our drink order fairly quickly. To start, we had potato chips with Parmesan cheese. Wow, I expected the chips to be sprinkled with the cheese, but this was like we had ordered nachos — just with Parmesan cheese. I will say that they give you a good amount, but it was so heavy and greasy that we could only eat a small portion of it. Moving on to dinner, I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap that came with fries. The wrap was OK, but it was definitely lacking buffalo sauce. I thought there would be a lot of it, but there was barely a brunched on amount. My friend ordered a Ruben, which she says was pretty good. Each of us only ate half our dinner, taking the rest home for the next day’s lunch. Our waitress was really sweet and helpful, and was good about checking on us. We did stick around for a while, talking and catching up, and i never felt rushed to leave. It wasn’t that busy when we arrived around 6, but by the time we left at 8:30, it was getting pretty packed with college-aged kids and families, which surprised me. I would go back, but next time I think I’ll try the pizza and steer clear of the sandwiches.

This is the place in Northfield that kids who graduated from NTHS or Loyola go when they are home for college breaks, or after they graduate college. I was surprised to see so many young faces, and also disappointed that I am no longer a young face. There were also a couple old faces, really old faces. Or maybe they just looked old from a long hard life of long hard drankin’. I’d rather have a few drinks down the road in The Glen or at The Happ Inn, literally right down the road.
