The chef on 12÷5÷15 had absolutely no idea how to cook. Note to owner: Don’t put items on menu if you don’t know how to make them. Oh — and train your waitstaff. And please for the sake of unsuspecting customers — if you choose to own a restaurant please learn how to do it at least halfway right. I could not recommend this place even if it was the only place open in Northfield.

I really liked this little gem in the middle of nowhere! It is a cozy but happy little place. The staff was extremely nice and there was live music to enjoy while eating breakfast for dinner! Everything was simple, but delicious. I had the corned beef nachos, while my boyfriend got an amazing omelette. Despite the good-sized portions of our meals, the girl behind the counter convinced us we had to have dessert, which was two grilled cookies with peanut butter between them, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce drizzled over everything and whipped cream. A genius idea. If I am ever in this area again, this will be my first stop! I agree with Casey with a C. I also wish I were closer to this place, so I could be a regular. Love it.

It was late in the morning on Sunday, we were hungry for some breakfast and wanted to try someplace new. We decided to drive out to Northfield to try out Rooster’s Bistro and have to say that we were not disappointed. When we arrived it was late in the morning so the place was empty. We quickly sat down in one of their booths and we were warmly greeted by the waitress who came over to take our order. The atmosphere here was really nice and low key and they had some really interesting specials on the menu. My fiancé bought a Western omelet which looked incredible while I tried their chicken bacon ranch omelet which was on special. Even though this isn’t something that I would typically buy, I really loved it. It had the perfect blend of taste and weirdly enough the ranch wasn’t too bad in the omelet. In the end we really enjoyed the food as well as the staff here and we’ll definitely have to come back in the future.

When you pull into a breakfast joint and the cook has a t-shirt on that says«Proud to be an American» and he is wearing a hat that marks him as a veteran, you just KNOW your in the right place. This joint is so good I wish I lived there just so I could be a regular. It starts with toast. If you order toast at most places you get toast out of a toaster. Not at Rooster’s. At Rooster’s the cook butters up Texas Toast and grills it on the flattop. I’m pretty sure that if you don’t want butter on your toast, then you just don’t go to Rooster’s in the first place. It was DELICIOUS! Now take that toast and use it for a scrambled egg(made with BUTTER of course) sausage(split links grilled to a nice char on the flattop) and cheese(cheddar of course) sandwich. Man, you can not beat it. A delicious cup of coffee, another sausage sandwich to go, and I’m out of there for less than ten bucks. Yay me, and YAY Rooster’s. If I’m in the neighborhood, I will be back.

If you’re in Northfield and looking for a good dessert — other than the Northfield Creamie — then this is a good place to go. If you are looking for a decent meal, either cook one at home or go somewhere else. The Bistro preps food — that shouldn’t be prepped — way ahead of time. They use the same typed of pre-cooked ham and chicken for every type of meal that says it has those ingredients. Read: the chicken in their salad is the same exact pre-cooked, pre-sliced chicken in the chicken parmesan… and any other dish that calls for chicken — despite it’s fancy name. They are also a bit over-priced. The restaurant is cute, however they do not have an established identity. I believe they would do well if they focused on cooking a few dishes really well with fresh, local ingredients, made-to-order, instead of having a lot of mediocre options.

Worst meal of my life. I’ve never written a bad review before, but I would have appreciated reading one of this place before trying it out one night when I was desperate for food and didn’t feel like driving more than a few minutes. This looked cute and was very close by. When I came in, there were no customers(I think it was 5pm or so) and asked the cook/server for the menu. Couldn’t decide between the salmon and something else, so I asked the server and she said the steak tips were a popular item. It sounded good, and I sat at the bar. Everything went downhill from there. The cook opened up a fridge below the hot plate and grabbed a large grey slab of pre-cooked meat, which he proceeded to cube, and sliced a potato. These he threw onto the hot plate, adding some salt, pepper, and cheese, and microwaved some pre cooked broccoli. My stomach started sinking but I suspended judgement. The two of them were very friendly, and I left with a styrofoam container of this food, which cost almost $ 20. When I returned home and started eating, I had to force myself to eat it because the food was so bland and tasted weird, and seeing where it had come from, I felt like throwing it all up. I regretted every single bite. To top it all off, I checked my bank account a few days later and found the charge from this place about $ 6 more than I had paid and signed for. I guess the server decided to give herself a generous tip, because I had left the tip line blank, since it was a take out order. Shady in more ways than one. Will never return.

Nice atmosphere for a small restaurant… had to ask for another mug for the coffee as the rim had food on it when I received it. I had a burger that was nicely cooked, however the fries were awful. They don’t «fry» their french fries, they cook them on their flat top grill and they are just like mushy homefries. Also, the service was really slow!!! It took ½ hr for a omelet and burger. Perhaps the slow service had something to do with the cook seemingly working alone, the waitresses, there were two, were occupied else where. One, a young looking thin girl was more interested in another girl at the other end of the restaurant and her laptop I think then she was paying attention to the cook and customers. And I am going to guess the other girl was newer, she didn’t seem to know alot about what she was doing. But at least she was trying. To bad, they had a nice sounding dessert menu I would love to try but not sure we would go back if the service stays that way!!!
