THEBESTRESTAURANTINNORTHFIELD. no contest. Everything I’ve had there is excellent… tacos… burritos… guacamole. … tamales… milanesa. . The green sauce is their crown jewel. Over the years I’ve watched them slowly add tables one at a time, and I hope their success continues. Grab a can of coconut water or mango nectar, and treat yourself to a wonderful meal there or take it to go. Mood lighting and cloth napkins? Nope, and if that’s what you’re looking for you can go enjoy your overpriced and mediocre food and leave this goldmine for the rest of us.

Best burrito in town. My favorite is the beef burrito or beef taco. Cheap price but a big portion and very tasty food. We usually call in ahead of time and pick it up since it is usually crowded inside. #18 on the menu is also worth trying.

As others have said, it’s not a place you go for the aesthetics. But the food is awesome, fast, and very affordable. The chorizo burrito is my favorite– full of flavor and a massive portion for $ 7.51 with tax, I feel like I’m stealing. I’ve also tried the guacamole, which isn’t on the menu but was recommended to me by a couple of friends, and it is equally amazing. The one downside to that is that it comes in a larger«side» helping, with chips, so it’s best if you’re going to take some home or share it among 3 – 4 people. They’re very fast, and you can eat in, or take it to go. As far as drinks/sides go, they’ve got a variety of mexican sodas, and also have a few groceries for sale. A final note, as others have warned, the green salsa is pretty spicy, so those with a sensitive palate could be in for a heat check. My one regret is that I didn’t find it until my last year.

Five stars for the salsa verde. Five stars for giving me extra salsa verde. Five stars for making the burrito vegetarian. Five stars for politely pretending that my friend’s mediocre Spanish is decent. It’s my restaurant of choice in Northfield, a town of two colleges, and not much else.

Ambiance? No. This was a small Mexican grocery store that had take out food in the back of the store. A couple of table and old tv were set up near the rear entrance. However, as the menu expanded and so did the demand. Most of the grocery section has been removed to add seating. Northfield is a college town and on any given day you will find college students sitting next to professors, sitting next to construction workers. My personnel favorite is the burrito with their amazing green cilantro sauce. You will not find better tex-mex anywhere for the price.

It’s the real deal. Watch out for the spicy cilantro sauce if you are a native Minnesotan! Yum!!!

Excellent food. An entire family works together to make homemade, delicious Mexican food. The spicy green cilantro sauce is heavenly. All at a good price, fresh made, and wonderful every time.

We stopped by with three hungry college students and two adults. Everyone left very happy. The guacamole had a nice bite of spice(chopped fresh jalepeno) and it was a generous portion. The three men ordered beef burritos and managed somehow to finish them in spite of their massive size. My daughter had chicken tacos – super authentic with a nice heat. I ordered tostadas which were so good I brought one home. We love the family who owns this place. They put their hearts into their food. Don’t let the gas station feeling of the place keep you away. I absolutely love this place. I always get the beef burrito. I have tried a few other things(tacos and the sandwich), but I like the burritos the best as the portions are the largest. Love this place!

El Triunfo has become by far my favorite restaurant in Northfield and serves some of the best Mexican food I’ve eaten outside Mexico. The restaurant interior isn’t anything special but the prices are quite low. I typically order a burrito since it comes with their spicy sauce on the side but occasionally mix it up with a torta.

As good as it gets in a small town like Northfield! About as tasty as the mexican food in my home town of Los Angeles! The posole is good and you can’t go wrong with tacos!

I’ve been here several times and have tried a variety of items from the menu. The burritos, and tortas are great, but the tamales are the best! I finally realize why everyone has been asking if I’ve tried them. The service is slow, the bathroom is sketchy, but the food is good so I try to ignore the questionable parts and usually just get it to go. Worth the wait and the other questionable factors.

Good authentic Mexican. Not tex-mex. Small grocer, family run business. Really little but the food is very good. They have a green hot sauce that is fantastic!

El Triunfo is a combination market and restaurant, selling mexican groceries and sundries in the front, and serving delicious food to several tables in the back. While it doesn’t offer much in the way of ambiance, El Triunfo serves some of the best authentic mexican food I’ve had in a long time. I’d heartily recommend the tacos al pastor, or the pork enchilada. The meals are relatively cheap, fulling, and usually come with rice and beans. Check it out!

Warning: The light green sauce that comes with your food is not a thin guacamole sauce, it is a spicy-cilantro bomb. My lips are still numb. However, after I regained my sense of taste, the food was truly pleasurable. Authentic, low key, and delicious. Mega flavorful and cheap. Go here.

Authentic, fresh Mexican food for rock bottom prices? Yes, you may have to go into a small, questionable market to get it but the food is soooo worth it. Their chicken burrito is literally bigger than my face and is so full of meat, beans, rice and other fresh ingredients that I have craved nothing else since I last ate it. My husband likes their tacos al pastor and carne asada tacos and has said that they’re the best he has tried in the area. We’ve also tried their quesadillas which are great for my kids who prefer their food on the ‘vanilla’ side. Call ahead, order it to go and eat at home. You won’t be disappointed!

This place is so so so amazing. Located in a small Mexican grocery store and run by a really friendly family. But the main thing is the food. I am from Austin, TX originally, where there are literally over 400 Mexican restaurants, and I have grown up on the stuff and found the best of the best. This place is located in small town Minnesota, and it is a TREAT. The point is I would go here even if it were in Austin. Enjoy! (However, be forewarned: there is very limited seating… but you can get it to go if need be.)

The rating reflects the fact that this is not a be-all, end-all restaurant. It’s a small, primarily take-out kind of place with a limited menu. To my mind, that’s not 5-star material. But what it makes is interesting, well priced and nicely prepared. I’m still thinking about the chicken burrito I had for lunch – zingy goodness! Oh, and they have pozole on the menu? The real deal, and I’m excited to go back for more. Also… this is better than El Tequila if you’re looking to take your meal home.

El Triunfo(née Sosa’s) may be the best food in Northfield. It is definitely the best value for money. It is easy to get a meal for two for ~$ 10 – 12, and considering how good the food is, this is an unbeatable deal.
