I just love their side dishes. I think they have best side dishes among the Korean restaurants around. But main manu doesn’t have many options. Still all the foods are decent in both taste and portion wise.

Had the dolsot bibimbap. Smaller portions than down the street, good service, banshan included yummy fish. Small, cozy place.

Awwww come on! How the hell do you run out of soup stock for stew? One type of soup stock gone affects a variety of dishes. I’m not sure why we stayed because what we had was awful. The sunji() was bitter and rock hard. The gamjatang() was under-seasoned and actually tasted like dish water. As I write this, the single waitress is taking care of 7 tables and hasn’t come by to refresh our drinks or refill our side dishes. Utter fail.

This was our goto place for Korean food about 5 years ago. Then someone new bought it and the place went in the dumps. We were told it was under new management so we came back but it’s the same old story. Slow service. Under seasoned food. Our waitress checked on us twice and we ran out of everything. Rice, side dishes, water and patience. I would not recommend this place if you want good service and good food. We will not be back. If I could give this place a half a star I would. Plenty of other places to go with friendlier staff, faster service and better food.

This restaurant just recently changed their owner. I went hoping that everything would be even better… but it wasn’t. It took about 30 minutes just for them to come to our table and ask for what drinks we wanted. This restaurant also easily had the worst service I had ever experience. The food also tasted pretty bad. It didn’t taste like how it should’ve. Therefore, I give it 1 star, only because I can’t give it 0 stars. I ate on 5−3−14.

Told us to sit wherever then didn’t get back to us for 20 minutes so we just left. Maybe the food is good but not worth the bad service.

I came here after getting a haircut nearby and my mom suggested grabbing some Korean food. I was initially pretty scared since we were the only ones in the restaurant, but that could’ve been because it was 4 pm, an awkward in-between time, I guess. The server gave the impression that he was the owner since he seemed pretty knowledgeable. He explained what each side dish was and was pretty attentive to filling up our waters. Although I have had bibimbap before, I’ll admit I’m not Korean so I can’t speak to the authenticity. The stone bowls were sizzling hot and everything seemed fresh. It could have just been me being picky, but I found the food a little bitter/salty to my taste. Overall, seems like a good place to try some Korean food for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere isn’t much to look at, but still clean. I’m sure it’s a favorite of more hardcore Korean-eaters. I just probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go to this place.

We’ve stopped by here a couple of times when visiting friends in the area. The food is very tasty, typical Korean fare. We found the service to be very good. The owner(?) was perhaps a little shy, but went out of his way to explain the dishes to us to make sure we would like what we ordered. Easy to recommend.

1-worst service ever. when we were leaving to our car… the server cam out and«x» his arms meaning – you are not welcome here. –i’ve been to korea and no one has ever treated me that way before. 2-the portions were small and kimchi varieties were only 5 or so 3-prices are too high for what its worth 4-asked for more kimchi and was told that they are complimentary. although we order 3 dishes, we received only one set of kimchi. We all had to share. 5– décor was outdated and again server was slow Never again. I will go somewhere else.

The service was horrible. I’m not sure if it was because we were not Korean, but it seemed like that was the case. Other Korean customers who arrived after us were being attended to and served before us. The food was good, but smaller portions than most other Korean places I’ve been to. When we asked for the bill, we asked to split it three ways on credit cards. They split it three ways and added gratuity even though we were only a party of 4! None of us were planning on tipping them 15% for such slow service. And since when did you add gratuity on a party of less than 6?

I just don’t understand some of the reviews. Maybe because of the date. I ate here today Jan 29, 2012. I’m Korean. I told the nice man attending us(owner? don’t know) that I’d prefer to speak English. My Korean isn’t that great and I was with another family who wasn’t Korean. Asked if we were ready to order after about 10 minutes of us catching up with each other. As he brought out our food he explained what everything was, even the side dishes. He suggested some menu items and some for the kids. Always polite. The food arrived within a very reasonable amount of time. 3 orders of kalbee, 1 kalbee soup, 1 dolsot bibimbap. 2 mandoo appetizers. I say sure, the portions could have been a little bigger compared to other places, but you know what? It’s still more reasonable because the prices are REALLY good. So dollar per amount, you’re still ahead. And at the end of the meal we were stuffed. Everyone loved the dried/fried seaweed dish and we ended up getting 1 or 2 more — not sure if the other end of the table also got a refill. No problem. Food was fresh, everything was clean, nothing sticky or dingy. I’d eat here again for sure. Besides us the only other patrons — 2 tables when we got there and 2 different tables when we left — were all Korean. Some of those buffet places I feel like the waitresses and owners don’t want to be there. I felt very welcome here. I’m not sure if getting the bill would have taken 30 minutes though, because I just asked him for it. The only issue I had was my 3 yr old son threw 3 sets of chopsticks on the floor and he forgot to replace them. We had to get them ourselves. But I’m not really upset about that.

This place has a nice, clean interior compared to most Korean restaurants I’ve been to. It was my first time coming here the other day for dinner and I will definitely come again. The owner(I’m assuming) was very nice and courteous, the rest of the staff was very friendly and attentive too. I’ll admit, I did feel like I was being stared at quite a bit… I can’t imagine that it’s unusual for someone like me to walk in there; is it really that obvious of how unfamiliar I am with Korean food? Regardless I really enjoyed it. I shared the BBQ Casserole dish and the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap with a friend. Both were really good and the prices weren’t bad either. The man person working(the owner?) showed me how to mix the Bi Bim Bap together because I had never ordered it before. Maybe when I go back I’ll ask him for suggestions because he really seemed interested in my opinion of the dishes. So far so good.

I went to Seoul Garden this weekend to eat some sam-gyeh-tang(korean chicken soup). The ingredients and the chicken were of good quality and well prepared. My main problem was that they did not provide enough ginseng in my chicken soup. Gingseng is pretty expensive, but it made me feel like the restaurant was stingy with its ingredients. The service was not so great. We waved the single waitress(for 15 tables or more) several times before we got more ban-chan(side dishes). I did like that there was a 25 cent coffee machine. hehehe

OK, I haven’t had Korean Food for quite some time. I had eaten here years ago, and was wanting to have some. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was ordering, but was sure it would be OK. I ordered a spicy dish, and the waitress kept giving me tips on what to do if it was too spicy.(And I have had food that was too spicy for me). The only thing that I didn’t realize was that it was a cold noodle dish. And that is OK because a lot of Korean dishes are served cold. The heat was far from being to much, but it was spicy enough to deserve the warnings. Good food!!! Prices seem to be OK. About the same as the big chain restaurants. If you like Korean, I think you’ll like this place. If you haven’t had Korean, it’s sort of an acquired taste. But if you like Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, you’ll probably like Korean food.

this is one of those affordable Korean type restaurants that serve up a good meal during lunch. As I understand, this restaurant has been in the area for several years. It has gone through different owners, but I noticed the food is pretty much stayed the same. If you are a lover of Korean food, this is one of the places you have to try, especially if you work in the Northbrook area. A good portion of their lunch is priced under $ 10. My favorite being the Be Bin Bop(marinated beef over rice & vegetables with red sweet chili sauce), Seoul long Tong(hearty meat soup), or the Kim Chee Soup(Spicy Soup) with a side of rice. Before your entrée arrives, they serve up a free round of kim chee, basically small size plates filled with different assortments of marinated vegetables and fish. This is the typical Korean style appetizer that are served by Korean restaurants; what’s great is it comes free with your meal. You can even ask for more kim chee if you like. I love coming her for lunch with my co-workers. This is a great place to try if you get bored with your standard type Chinese or even Japanese food.

This place is in a strip mall right in a busy intersection, so keep an eye out for it when you get to the corner stop lights. Or look for metal and glass blocks. When we came in, I was glad to see that a.) it was clean b.) it didn’t smell too high heaven musty of Korean food and c.) English is spoken. The service was full of smiles and attention, and they were really good about explaining some of the dishes to me that weren’t interpreted on the menu. For the price of the kalbi we could have gotten all you can eat, so we got bulgogi(marinated beef) and dulsot bibimbop(egg/veggies/meat/fried egg atop rice in a hot stone pot)…simple orders, nothing complex, like spaghetti at an Italian place. The side dishes were a bit lacking, I believe just eight, but they were all pretty good. Bulgogi came with a bowl of rice and tasted ok. The meat was marinated well and wasn’t too salty, but nothing noteworthy. The bibimbop was also average, they were generous with the toppings, but I felt that it wasn’t too flavorful. The hot sauce and side dishes came in real handy to flavor my dish. We will be back since it is so near us, but shrug, we have yet to order something to wow us.

still a solid clean place. Service is good and the BBQ is solid I love the kalbi/galbi and the jum mul lok(unmarinated). I am a charcoal guy more than anything and these guys use gas so thats my only knock as the meat tastes better on the coals.

Looking for decent Korean in the suburbs is like finding a needle in a haystack. I remember seeing it and wondering if it was good. it’s been around for so many years so it can’t be too bad. We had the hot pot with the ramen and spicy seafood and rice cakes. A little pricey at $ 25 per pot but it fed 3 people. so it was a decent order. I’ll stop by again if I am craving Korean. which is often.
