The Village on Main

Exceptional work, very reasonable prices (seriously, guys– if you’ve ever left the Valley, you’ll agree), lovely ambiance, amazing customer service, fantastic stylists. I usually see Shannon, and I highly recommend her, especially if you are new to the area and have no idea who to trust with your hair.
I’ve been here about 15 – 20 times, for a variety of services (makeup, threading, cuts, color) and only once have my expectations failed to align with reality, but after a phone call, my hair was fixed several days later gratis. Every other time, I’ve left feeling totally psyched about my hair. Isn’t that the point?

I recently moved here from LA and was nervous about getting my hair cut, especially since most people apparently don’t use Unilocal here. I was quite desperate by the time I decided to just throw caution to the wind and make a random appointment with someone. My hair stylist was amazing. Great color; great cut — couldn’t ask for anything more.
11÷22÷15 Update: I had another good experience at Village on Main. A few thoughts:
Pros —
*Organized and efficient scheduling with text alerts and reminders
*Calm and relaxing experience despite the intensity of that general area of town (right next to Starbucks); they take your coat, get you tea, give you a hand massage gratis and generally the music is fairly relaxing. The place is clean and the bathroom nice.
*Those ergonomic washing basins that don’t hurt your neck! I went to a salon years ago back in California that had them and am so pleased they have them here. Wonderful.
*They use Goldwell color (in addition to Aveda), which is one of the best out there in terms of quality (and in my experience, way better than most everything else I’ve tried, except maybe Wella as a close second).
*I’ve had a good experience, as I note above, with my stylist. I got the exact color I wanted both times and don’t have any complaints.
Cons —
* Fairly expensive and, as it seems with other things here in Northampton, you have to schedule far out in advance
* Remember that you have to bring cash for tip, as you can’t add it onto your total with the card. This is just a little annoying, as I have to remember to stop by the bank on the way to the salon.
Overall, excellent experience! I’ll keep updating if there is anything new to report.

Blonde is not an easy color to keep up with and The Village is the best place I’ve ever had my hair colored. These people are true professionals without rock-​star attitudes. Clean environment. Friendly personalities. Great services! I always walk out of there feeling great.

«They treat you like a god/​goddess here — with head massages, hot towels, and refreshments while you wait, you will be put in a blissful state. With free wifi I never miss an Instagram post while I’m getting the sickest fade in town, one that I can boast. Oh and btw — the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered.

I was a few minutes late to my appointment but my hairdresser did not seem annoyed or feel the need to rush through my haircut. The Village on Main uses Aveda products and has comfortable seats to browse trashy magazines.
Highly satisfactory experience.

Love this salon! Coming from Boston & being new to the area I had no idea where I would be getting my hair done as I loved blowing out my very curly hair. I also had the same stylist for 5 years at an Aveda salon in Boston so was scared to try someone new.
After using a couple salons on the area, I found The Village. This place is great and the staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable and the stylists are great. I have been going to Dani for a few months now and am very happy with her work. She is so nice and explains everything she is doing. Aveda products speak for themselves and I won’t be using other products.
Sarah is the lady to see for a facial or wax. I had my brows waxed for the first time with her and she is amazing. I love my brows– I keep them natural looking and I absolutely love them… It doesn’t hurt and she is the nicest person ever. I had a facial with her to prepare for my upcoming wedding and it was magnificent and worth every penny!
Anyone questioning the salon… just go because they rock & they re great at what they do!

I have gone for facials, hair color and cut. This place is a step above the rest. There is no loud music, people ask if they can take your coat, they offer free tea, during long hair treatments there is a hand massage… It’s simply first class service! Thank you.
