I am a big fan of the Green Room. I have been in several times and always enjoy myself. For me Green room is a 5 star candidate but I am knocking off 1 star because of the menu. It’s not large enough, When I first started going to the Green Room they had a menu theme of doing Prohibition era cocktails. They dropped that and now have some suggested cocktails, all of which are very good, but are on a pretty small and relatively short menu… Compared to a place like the Tunnel Bar, with a large and great cocktail menu, … well the menus just don’t compare, even if the cocktails, service and value do compare very well. I have been in with my kids and their friends and they don’t always know what to order… Anyway, all that said they will make you whatever you want, and I go off menu all the time. They even made me a caipirinha! Anyway, order off the menu, go in and have them make your favorites, or have them make something special for you. You will love whatever you get. The atmosphere is cool and the location is right next to the Iron Horse. Service is good, but sometimes they do not offer table service. Also, since the drinks are so well made, painstakingly so, sometimes it takes a little while for the drinks to come out. That said, I love watching these guys work! It is entertainment in and of itself. Prices are on the higher side so be prepared and don’t squawk because the drinks are fantastic and pack a punch. The bottom line is that The Green Room delivers value. I totally recommend The Green Room.

My boyfriend summed up this place perfectly: «It’s the kind of bar where you want to be a regular.» And we will be. We just moved to the Northampton area and stopped by here for pre-dinner drinks. We initially only planned to have one each, but they were so scrumptious we had to have two. Our first drink was a bartender’s choice. We told him what we liked and he made us drinks based on those flavor profiles. My boyfriend likes scotch, gin, no bourbon. I said I like whiskey, ginger, citrus and no vodka. My boyfriend received a blended scotch, mixed with ginger and citrus, with a single malt floater(delicious)(bartender said it was a Penicillin with a single malt floater– a very peaty scotch). I received a ginger margarita with a mezcal floater. Also delicious. For our second round I ordered the most delicious old fashioned I have ever had(my go to drink). My boyfriend ordered another cocktail(name is escaping us), but it was gin based with lime and a kumquat syrup. Also very good. We are looking forward to sitting at their barstools again soon.

Our new favorite after dinner drink spot! This place is so cool. Low lighting, a nondescript entrance and a drink list so unique that I was sure they invented half of the words, I can’t believe it took us this long to check this place out. Given that St. Patrick’s day is right around the corner, I opted to try the Maguire-a drink akin to an adult shamrock shake. Creamy, minty, and super strong, this was a perfect dessert drink! My husband didn’t see anything that jumped out at him on the special drink list so the bartender asked for what he typically likes to drink and would make him something he’d enjoy. Sure he enough, he followed through. A truly unique place and I look forward to our next visit!

I love the Green Room, I think it is hands down the best place to get a cocktail in Northampton and quite possibly the entire Pioneer Valley. Harry is such a fantastic bartender — every single drink he makes is crafted with care and attention to detail. The menu is well thought out and unique and offers something for everyone. I really love this bar. It’s just outstanding.

Amazing atmosphere and bartending service. It’s rare to feel welcomed and like a local in busy and bustling Northampton, but bartender Rob learned my name within the first order and created the perfected selection of cocktails to blow my mind. As previous reviews below, these folks know their stuff. If you tell them you have a favorite liquor, they do their best to meet your expectations on a fancy cocktail. I would absolutely recommend to friends and family.

I came here on New Year’s Eve and was looking forward to coming back(and leaving a 5 star review). But they need a third bartender! Dude SAW me waiting for him to finish concocting 3 drinks that took 8 minutes each. And then just turned to someone else when he was done to take another drink order that will take another 25 minutes. Come on. We had to walk out because although these drinks are delicious, they aren’t worth waiting an hour for. We had to leave without getting a drink. sad.

By far my favorite bar in the area. A proper Old Fashioned does not get any better.

I judge bars on their ability to make an Old Fashioned. 99.9% of the time, when I order an Old Fashioned at a bar, I am handed some horrible pink concoction with too much ice and a mini fruit salad smashed up in the bottom of my glass. It tastes like kindergarten snack time gone horribly wrong. When I ordered an Old Fashioned at The Green Room, the bartender asked me, «Bourbon or Rye?» THIS. Is a sign of a good bar. And it wasn’t a fluke — I’ve been back a couple of times, and have had Old Fashioneds made by two different bartenders(Harry was one of them; I forget the other guy’s name). They’re great. And for folks who don’t know their way around cocktails, liquors, and all of the(admittedly obnoxious) geekery that can surround the cocktail«scene,» the bartenders at this place are ridiculously knowledgeable and super smart. Want something sweet that has some gin? They can make something you’ll like. Want something to sip on a cold fall evening? They know exactly what you need. Seriously, go to this bar. You will not be disappointed.

Not expecting the unexpected in artsy ville. Love this place. I have been twice visiting an old friend and it’s a perfect spot to have a cocktail. City chic. Great bartenders. Just go

Finally! The staff is so friendly, so knowledgable, and frankly, talented. I have never been disappointed and it is my go-to for drinks in NoHo!

The Green Room offers fantastic craft cockails. The menu is similar to a lot of craft cocktail places in other cities, but is unique to the Northampton scene. We tried all kinds of drinks, made from all kinds of liquor, served in all kinds of glasses, and none were disappointing. I don’t think you can really go wrong here when it comes to drinks. I found the minimalist space to be gorgeous and it felt really open and airy. Perhaps too open as seating is lacking. The cheeky reminder on the menu to not be too loud seemed a little out of space as the space echoed and seemed really noisy. I would deal with standing up and having to scream to sample these delicious cocktails.

Very surprised to find this place. Looked closed(no show at Iron Horse, so a bit of a quiet spot), but we saw a light through the door and found it open. Fantastic, loved it. Three of us, one of whom bartends at a top-of-the-line cocktail bar in NYC, ordered three different drinks and all three were genuine. The physical establishment could maybe add a few things to add to the atmosphere(somewhat basic, maybe because the bar is still young)? But based on both the drinks and service, easily give 5 stars. Real treat in Noho, and wish them the the best…

My friends and I stumbled on this bar while walking home in the snow, and it was exactly the haven we didn’t know we were looking for! The drinks are awesome — true craft cocktails made with care — and the atmosphere was great for hanging out while watching the storm. As other reviewers have pointed out, the bartenders not only know what they’re doing but are willing to put their knowledge to the test to make unique drinks that you can’t find anywhere else. As a recent transplant from New York City, I was so happy to find a place to go for a creative and delicious drink menu and cool atmosphere. I will be back often.

I had the best cocktail I’ve ever had in my life last night, and it was at The Green Room. From the dimly lit, secretive type of ambiance, to the knowledgeable, prompt, and friendly bartender, this place was incredible. The only downside is that all of the drinks on their menu looked delicious, so I had a hard time deciding what to get. If you enjoy a well-crafted cocktail, and a different sort of atmosphere than your run-of-the-mill bar, you must check this place out! You won’t be disappointed!

There are very few old school(and I mean Golden Age) cocktail establishments on the planet. Places where artists work. The Swizzle Stick in New Orleans. Bar One in New York. The Red Star and The Whiskey Library in Portland, Oregon. At all I’ve found masters of the Art. I just experienced two of the best cocktails I’ve ever had in my life in, of all places, Northhampton, Mass. These are bartenders who are not just passionate about cocktails. They are artists. In particular Harry may be a mixologist Mensa member. After the restaurant and hotel bars close you will find many area bartenders drinking here to see what Hank, the bartender wunderkind, can do. I had two New Orleans specialties including their menu Sazerac, which was wildly great. I watched a whiskey sour unfold, replete with egg whites, an early 20th century version, when the sour was a work of art and not a cocktail of the spigot and serve school, that was artistry and no less. The bar is minimalist elegance. You will be served not only well, but you should watch them work your drink. There is a poetry to the master at their craft that is as exciting as watching a celebrity chef at their best. TRUSTYOURBARTENDER. They put things in drinks like egg white to froth up a whisky sour the way it was designed in its origins. They are here to take you on a journey. If you want beer and wine there is a bit here but this is not really why you came. Your curiousity will be rewarded with excellence many times over. If you want an EXPERIENCE you must come here. Drive. walk. Run. From a great distance if necessary. You will not be disappointed. At prices that are, for what I have experienced, beyond modest. My only great sadness is that my favorite bar now lies out of reach…

Fun and classy. The Green Room is the kind of place that makes it fun to drink – not in a keg stand kind of way, but in a «what’s in this drink again? It’s delicious!» kind of way. Barkeep/Manager Harry was welcoming, interesting, and had a great touch with a drink; it was entertaining to watch him at work with his eyedroppers, muddlers, strainers, and shakers. He gave good advice and adjusted recipes when necessary. The drinks were affordable AND much more skillfully made than at the Tunnel Bar, Hinge, or Spoleto, the kind of drinks that make you laugh and talk too much and decide that your childhood wasn’t so bad after all. I’m a little worried to think how often we’ll be going back.

Updated review: looks like this place is coming together. On my fourth visit I was delighted by Harry once again and their Barback Carl(Karl?). He was more knowledgable than the girl that was bullshitting me last time I was there. This place has great simple cocktails. They don’t look like they have the ability to go deeper into the world of mixology, YET. I will return.

Great cocktails, great attempt at a New York style cocktail bar. Visited early on while they were still ramping up and you can already see the potential.

The Green Room is like an itch that’s finally been scratched~~ So that’s what was missing in Northampton all this time! FINALLY an honest-to-goodness craft cocktail bar in Noho. and the GR is a bar that takes its craft seriously in the style of the best speakeasies/cocktail bars in NYC(as my liver can personally attest to). The«craft» of cocktail making is all about precision and an attention to time-tested recipes with an emphasis on using the best ingredients be they house-pressed juices, home-grown bitters, syrups or small-batch spirits. Harry(an excellent bartender I met while he tended at the Lumberyard in Amherst) and Noreen(by way of Chez Albert) are both great and will skillfully mix your cocktail of choice using choice ingredients from their varied and excellent menu. Current favorites: 1) the PENICILLIN –scotch whiskey, lemon, honey, ginger, topped with a Laphroaig float for peat&smoke to achieve an almost medicinal depth to the sweet base. from the famed Milk & Honey in NY 2) the PINKLADY –gin, applejack, house grenadine, lemon and egg white. a well-balanced sweet cocktail that’s easy to drink and popular among my female friends. ok, I like it too geez
