A.P.E. is a gallery and performance space hosting the work of local contemporary artists in various disciplines. As a nonprofit 501 C-3, it also works closely with the Valley community on projects intended to foster consciousness of the arts and to empower area creators. In the past, for instance, the organization has hosted a forum on sustainable urban design. It also has contributed works of art to local places of organic agriculture. Additionally, A.P.E. is one of five founding organizations of the Northampton Community Arts Trust, a group whose mission is to expand the presence and accessibility of art spaces and organizations downtown. Every visit I’ve made to A.P.E. has been pleasant. Most recently, I attended a reception for an exhibit featuring the work of Northampton High School alumni. Much to my surprise, I purchased an artwork. The volunteer who assisted me with my selection and paperwork was remarkably kind, and called when the work was ready to be picked up. With excellent service and as an active community figure, A.P.E. is well worth supporting.
