Did I ever think I would be doing a review for a rest stop? Nope. I am PICKYPICKYPICKY about where I deposit my waste. When I was a kid I held it until I got home because I hated the school bathrooms. My poor husband has to put clean bathrooms on the GPS because I won’t let him stop at the sketchy ones. I may not be an expert, but I have my druthers.. . So, let me tell you this one is a keeper. Visitor Centers do not get an automatic pass. I’ve been to bad ones and I have traveled with my military father for a very long time across the US. If you are going to the NC mountains this is the best rest stop. You can walk on a trail to stretch your legs, you can walk your dog, your kids can run around on the grass, you can picnic on some really nice tables or you can go to the ultra clean family bathroom together or use the bigger facility that has plenty of stalls. There is a visitor center and I’ve seen it. It’s nice. If you are new to these parts you will want to venture in there. Since my family lives in the mountains I don’t have a need for it. They are very GREEN here if you are interested in that. Check out their website. So you gotta go? Hold it until you get here. It’s worth it. Happy traveling.
