My wife and I needed to order some 4″ wide x 12′ beadboard to cover an 8’x12’ area. Before we called Moynihan we figured that 4″ wide tongue n groove might not truly be 4″ wide(it might be slightly narrower because of the tongue n groove) so we need to ask them how wide the boards really are alone and once they were interlocked(the face). We also wanted to order 3extra boards just in case. So we call Moynihan, gave the dimensions of our prohect, and explained what we were looking fo. The guy that took the order on the phone assures us that the actual measurement of the individual board width is 4″ though the facing portion is narrower but tells us to order as if it’s 4″. He does the math on the phone and we say we want some extra boards so he says 28 should be enough. Well, they delivered the stock to our house the next day and that was great but the boards were not the width the guy at Moynihan said. The width of the individual boards were 3−¼″. Well short of what we needed. Very annoying as this could have been avoided by the person taking the order simply confirming the width of the boards by measuring them in house, instead of guessing. Because some of the pieces were damaged and we needed more boards to finish the project, I treck over to the store with the problem boards. I tell them how they misdirected us on the phone. Their response: they couldn’t believe someone who worked there would say that as everyone knows its not really 4″ boards(yeah, i know!). They couldn’t have shown less interest in the inconvenience. No «sorry that happened to you», nothing. I’ll take my business elsewhere in the future.

This place is a Lumber company that made it impossible to buy 2 pieces of wood. My wife and I were looking for 2 pieces of Oak for a kitchen project. We called the store and were told that we would have to come in to make the order. So we went in a month ago and spoke to someone about what we needed. Fast foward a month later and we have not receive a single call back from them. We have reached out 5 different times and always get the same line that«someone» will call back tomorow and they never do. So today we finally get our first call back and am told that we have to go back into the store and talk to the one employee that is capable of handling our order, again 2 pieces of wood. Not only that but the one employee that know what he’s doing only works mon-fri and leaves at 5. So not only are we asked to go AGAIN to the store AGAIN but we are also asked to take time off of work to do it. We are told it’s impossible to talk to this guy on the phone and also that he’s the only one who can help us.

I had a great experience over in the mill department. It all started from a referral from my contractor on a fireplace he was framing up. We were thinking about the mantel piece and he noted Moynihan Lumber. I went up there to take a look at the Mill dept. — from the minute I walked in and asked the guy at the customer service /check out desk to actually getting the opportunity to meet someone in the mill dept. — the knowledge and options were endless. I would not only recommend them in the future, I would tell people to start here first. I usually prefer to shop from really people owned places, rather than National chain stores. I was shopping with my contractor who always goes to this location and raves about the service and quality of product. I can see why he raved about it. Free delivery saved us a lot of money and time. I will always come here for my future renovation needs, before going elsewhere.
