Amazing Taste

This is my favorite soul food place ever! I decided to try them out and then brought some home to my boyfriend and it’s also his favorites soul food ever! We love the fact that it’s only a few minutes away and they always get our order right. We love the candied yams, baked mac and cheese and both the baked chicken and the jerk chicken (it’s a bit too spicy for me but perfect for my BF)! I am so happy that it’s so convenient and the food is literally amazing ! Definitely recommend this place to everyone !

Great staff. Great food. We got take out, candy yams and jerk chicken. My friend ordered the oxtail with Mac and cheese. We loved it! I wanted to try the collard greens but it was sold out at the time. We went towards closing time. Our fault. But definitely a great place for soul food. Finally!

I always get their Turkey Meatloaf, Collards and Mac & Cheese. I can’t break away from it, it’s just that good! Thank goodness for coworkers who share. I’ve tried their Jerk Chicken, BBQ Chicken, String Beans, Jerk Fries and even their empanadas. I loved it all! My coworkers said their fish, yams and oxtail are great also. You want good soul food? Come here.
The owners and staff are such nice people. We’ve been ordering since they were cooking out of the church kitchen on Park. So glad to see them in their own space, we wish them much success.

North Plainfield has been lacking a soul food restaurant for quite some time. Thankfully, Amazing Taste has stepped up to the plate and delivered in a major way. This small, unassuming place offers fantastic soul food at an extremely reasonable price. Service was prompt and very friendly.
We had jerk chicken, collards, cornbread, and banana pudding. All were top notch.
I see big things in the future for this place. I wish them the best!

I LOVE this place! The food is wonderful! Fish is always cooked perfectly, the yams are magnificent and the mac n cheese is superb! Been eating here since they were serving out of a church and the quality is just as good as it was then. The people are SO NICE and it’s a nice spot to grab authentic soul food. Do not pass them by!

Came here the other day and I had to write a review. I love food especially good soul food that tastes like my grandma made it and she’s from the south. I ordered jerk chicken dinner with collard greens and Mac and bbq chicken dinner with yams and Mac. I’m extremely picky about my jerk chicken and it just wasn’t up to my standards it’s okay but I’ve had way better. I usually go to a Caribbean spot where their specialty is Caribbean food. The BBQ chicken was amazing though very flavorful that will be my go to next time I am there. Mac and cheese was very good as well I’m picky with who makes it but it tasted homemade. Yams were sweet and tasty, the collard greens were okay, not the best I’ve had but i’d order it again if I really wanted collard greens that day. My go to meal is going to be BBQ chicken with Mac and yams and it comes with soft sweet fluffy corn bread. Yum!

What a great spot and the prices are unbeatable. My boyfriend and I had the whiting, jerk chicken, jerk chicken empanadas, mac & cheese, potato salad and collard greens. All were delicous and flavorful. I highly recommend the visit.

Just had the jerk chicken and loved it. the meat just fell off the bone. empanadas were also good but jerk chicken with mac n cheese stole the show. will be dreaming about it tonight to go back tomorrow.

Hands down the best souls food I had in a long time. The menu is short & simple and the taste is amazing & powerful.

We got the turkey meatloaf, baked chicken with Mac & cheese, greens and jerk French fries. Everything was on point n perfect. Banana pudding was also mad good. Bomb food!

Learned why they are so busy the minute I got home. Jerk chicken and fish were delicious. Sides were delicious too!

I visited today and I just have to say the food was great. When I walked in everyone was friendly and I ordered the jerk chicken and rice and collard greens. The food was really good. The mac and cheese was great too.
I will be back for some more jerk lol :)

Been eyeing this place down on Unilocal for weeks now. Finally decided to make the 15 min drive during my lunch break to get some comfort food after a long work week. Food coma here I come!
Menu is simple but delicious. Order a platter and you get 2 sides + cornbread. Choose anything between fried fish, to braised oxtail or jerk chicken.
Me and my coworker’s orders:
— BBQ chicken + Mac n cheese + candied yams
— Jerk chicken + Mac n cheese + collard greens
Both chickens are definitely worth a try. Absolutely delicious with 2 different flavor profiles! Chicken was tender and juicy, exactly what you’d expect.
BBQ sauce was slightly sweet but perfectly spiced and tangy. Jerk chicken… Oh man, get ready for that HEAT! That’s authentic jerk chicken alright!
Mac n cheese = cheesy, al dente, peppery, perfection
Candied Yams = sweet and buttery melt-​in-​your-​mouth deliciousness
Cornbread was soft and buttery. Try their homemade lemonade! Tasted like that fresh jersey shore lemonade. Sweet and slightly tart.
It’s a small family owned joint but they make you feel so welcomed. They did their best to serve us quickly even when they were handling a humongous delivery order and other dine-​in guests. Even came around to check on us while we were eating.
Love this place. Would love to try their catering some time in the future. Who doesn’t love that pick-​me-​up kinda comfort food once in a while? Amazing Taste indeed!

My husband and I finally had the chance to try this place out and we are so happy we did. The menu is simple but it works because what they had up are their specialties. The folks there are very friendly. I ordered the oxtails with a side of Mac and cheese and an extra side of candied yams. My husband ordered the bbq chicken with a side of green beans. Both orders came with yellow rice and cornbread. First off, the oxtails were cooked tender and I loved the sauce/​gravy. The yams and Mac and cheese went great with it. The bbq chicken was moist and flavorful and the green beans were tasty. I could probably eat a tray of the cornbread because it was light and flavorful. I’d like to come back to try the other items on the menu. All in all, it tastes like home cooking.

First time at this place, and I dug it! A friend of mine and I decided to try everything – we got the jerk chicken, BBQ chicken, and fried flounder, with sides of Mac and cheese, candied yams, collards, and string beans. We were sad that the menu didn’t have more soul food items, but what they do have — they make well.

Homemade drinks could have been a little more unique and special.
Owner was very friendly and has a good spirit about him. He runs his family-​owned restaurant with order.
Finally, We had enough food for seconds and a second plate the next day.
Definitely WILL be back when I’m in the area.

My husband has been following them on IG for a long time when the only had the food truck. They opened a small little spot right on 22 in North plainfield next to zippos. What can I say other than amazing eats they offer in this place. Hearty portions and some awesome flavors. The turkey meatloaf had a nice smoky flavor and it was super moist. The fried tilapia was very well seasoned and full of flavor. The oxtails were cooked to perfection with meat just falling off the bones. The collards were cooked just right just needed some pepper vinegar to make it just right. The candied yams were cooked perfect and just melt in your mouth. The corn bread was made just right. If you are in the area check it out or order take out.

I’ve been too lazy to write reviews recently, but this place really deserves more attention. I went here once on a Wednesday night and once on a Friday night. On Wednesday, the restaurant was pretty empty with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 other customers getting takeout. On Friday, the place was completely packed, and there were no tables available. I definitely recommend going on a weekday if you plan on eating there. If you’re getting takeout, you can pretty much go on any day (but you should probably still call in ahead of time to make life easier).
Onto the food.
Jerk Chicken — The meat was tender and fell right off the bone. Flavors were pretty intense and really spicy, but still enjoyable.
Oxtails in Gravy — So good. Unlike some other places I’ve been to, this place really does not skimp on their oxtail portions. The oxtails were cooked perfectly, and the gravy was delicious.
BBQ Chicken — Just like the jerk chicken, the meat fell right off the bone. The BBQ sauce was great, and I recommend getting this as an alternative to the jerk chicken if you can’t handle spicy foods.
Turkey Meatloaf — The meatloaf itself was seasoned well and tasted pretty good. They top it off with BBQ sauce which is very different from what I’m used to, but I still liked it.
Yams — Amazing! The yams are served with a thick, sweet sauce. almost like a cinnamon-​y syrup. I highly recommend this as a side especially if you have a sweet tooth.
Collard Greens — I haven’t had collard greens much in the past, so I can’t say with 100% confidence that these are better than average. but I thought these were really really good.
Mac and Cheese — About as good as mac and cheese gets. The macaroni was soft, and it had just the right amount of cheesiness.
String Beans — Addicting. Pretty much the best string beans I’ve ever had. The string beans were so soft and bursting with flavor. My favorite of all of the sides I tried!
Corn Bread — Served slightly warm. Great texture and taste, and it had just the right amount of crumble. Excellent corn bread.
Banana Pudding — Incredible dessert. The pudding has just the right blend of sweetness and banana flavor. They also put these small and slightly crispy cookies in the pudding, and it’s really good altogether.
Overall, the prices are very reasonable especially for the amount of delicious food that you get with each order. When I ate at the restaurant, the service was excellent too. The staff was attentive as well as accommodating. The owner is also a really friendly guy, and it’s easy to tell he genuinely cares about his customers and their experiences at his restaurant. I’m already looking forward to my next meal here!

My favorite dinner from here is between the fried whiting and the jerk chicken. Actually the fried tilapia is also pretty tasty, juicy, and full of flavor. They are all served with two sides. I can personally attest to how delicious the mac & cheese and yams are as sides. The yams especially have just the right amount of sweetness. The collard greens are also very good. Everything is cooked and served fresh. Amazing Taste is a small restaurant run by an awesome married couple –located on 22 E in North Plainfield next to Zippos. You may even find their food truck parked in front. Stop by and get you some good food.
