Must eat in Myrtle beach! Every year when we visit MB, we always have to make sure we visit the restaurant!

Just finished the grilled salmon. I promise, if this place wasn’t full of people, I would have licked my plate. Not sure what seasoning they used, but I don’t remember a better piece of salmon in some time. They close Sunday for the winter. Better get here quick.

Nostalgic place. Always buzzing with patrons. Hit or miss with the specials. Come early or they run out. Every day menu has enough to please.

Somehow I forgot to leave a review for this gem! I was at myrtle beach for an extended weekend back in September, this restaurant was really close to our hotel. Every time we drove by people were lined up down the sidewalk. Like serious lines, didn’t matter the time of day. So as we were headed home, we decided to stop in. Again a long line, but the thing is it moves very fast. You can tell this spot is a favorite of locals and those who visit the beach often. People in line were raving to us about how good the food was. And they told the truth. We had a party of 5adults and 2 children. We all left extremely satisfied. Hate I didn’t take pics. I had the freshest flounder I’ve had in a long time. Good southern down home cooking. Very friendly staff, excellent customer service. Nothing fancy but don’t let that keep you as you will not be disappointed. Extremely affordable just a gem of a restaurant. We will totally be back on our next visit.

Been coming here for years. Amazing Sunday plate specials. Today I chose baked turkey and squash casserole(x2 bc it’s amazing), green beans, biscuit sweet tea and banana pudding for dessert. It all comes together for like 7 or 8 bucks. It changes every Sunday but it’s always so good. They have specials like this during the week too. Also, there is a great salad bar and a regular menu as well! Flounder is good too. Don’t get too excited about the décor or the servers’ attire. They wear t shirts and the booths are just plane vinyl and the tables are worn. Just an old beach restaurant. But perfect environment for some good olé home cooking. Go there. Lines usually out the door on Sunday. Prob was 10⁄15 people in line when we got there at 1:30 but we didn’t wait longer than 5 min. Just go. Eat good food. Enjoy.

We love this restaurant so much. Home cooked food, homemade desserts and friendly staff. We discovered this restaurant back 15 years ago when we bought our condo in Myrtle Beach and still enjoy going there when we visit MB

Every time I am in the area, I have to stop at Hoskins at least once for breakfast. They make the best biscuits. ‘Nuf said!

The first few times my wife and drove by, we kept saying«what is this line up outside on the sidewalk for? There is no way that’s for that rinky-dink restaurant». Well, we found out it was. And its mostly coveted by a much older crowd(I think we were the youngest by at least 30 – 40 years). SO, that leads me to believe it’s a place of value and good food, because those older folks love to get their money’s worth and they wouldn’t be standing in line for sub-quality food. I’m glad we followed the crowd on this one, because it was a fantastic lunch. Hoskins has been around for several decades, and credits themselves with having the freshest seafood in all of North & South Carolina … a bold claim that obviously can’t be substantiated. BUT, from the taste, I’d say they they’re pretty close. My wife and I split the large fried seafood platter … and my lord was it good. Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, Sea Scallops, & Crab cake. Served with your choice of side, a trip to the salad bar, and hush puppies. We opted for their fries, and they are . The delicious battery/crispy kind that only the best of best carry. The seafood tasted extremely fresh, and was all cooked to perfection. Honestly, the best things were the shrimp & the huge scallops. If I went back, I’d probably do the build-the-basket thing and just get shrimp & scallops they were that good. Great hushpuppies too, a true testament that it’s an authentic southern restaurant.

I’ve been coming to NMB for years with my family, but we have never been here for breakfast. We used to always go to the Biscuit Shack. I’ve seen Hoskins before because of TV33, and I’ve always seen the long line out the door to this place, but we’ve just never made it here until this year. I wish we had came here sooner! Soooo much better than The Shack and pretty cheap, too. I enjoyed my delicious breakfast other than that my grits came out with cheese on them when I didn’t ask for it. We will definitely be back next year!

I just don’t get it. I’m sorry. Not worth the wait. I have tried breakfast and eaten here two separate times for dinner. Food is average.

I had the seafood platter, it was VERY good! The crab cake was amazing! Everything was great from the shrimp to the slaw to the tarter sauce. Betty the waitress took very good care of us. We did have to wait in line to get it, but the long line moved rather quick.

We walked in and were greeted and seated immediately. The server, Michelle, had our food out in under ten minutes and delivered it with a smile. Everything tasted great here. The biscuits were out of this world. I would eat here every morning if I could!

Prepare for an incredibly authentic, old-school experience with delicious food to boot. I’m talking carpet sweepers and those plastic-but-wants-so-bad-to-look-like-crystal salad bowls. Came here for lunch on a summer Thursday in August, and the place was filling up; not long after we were sat, there was a steady line out the door(there’s an awning, so no waiting in full sun). Even though it was packed, our food arrived quickly, and we were never wanting for anything. Every staff member was watching every table, so as soon as a cup got low, someone new was coming by to fill it. The food is mostly fried, and entirely wonderful. There are whole wheat buns available, because healthy. I got a fried chicken sandwich with french fries, and my wife got a tuna salad sandwich, and we split a generous half portion of hush puppies, which were divine. Nothing was as heavy as is typical with fried diner-style food. According to my wife, they put dill in the tuna salad, which is apparently the best thing ever. The fried chicken breast was huge and juicy. I think you automatically get a basket of biscuits and hush puppies if you get one of the seafood entrees; make sure you order some if you aren’t getting the entrees, because they are melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Light, and just a little bit sweet. This is the place to go if you want a truly local, authentic beach town joint without trying to be a beach town joint(and also without the beach town tourists). It’s not fancy, but it’s just right.

Have been coming here during MB trips for 12 years and it has not changed and is always great. This is now 1 of 3 of our must stops when we come. Don’t skip the peanut butter pie, possibly my favorite dessert of all time anywhere. Fried chicken is great, tried some tomato and onion side of stew that was super flavorful. Hush puppies great, fried seafood always on point. Please don’t ever change Hoskins.

Great little breakfast spot in North Myrtle Beach South Carolina. We had a party of eight we were seated within five minutes even though the restaurant was really crowded. Prices were fair and they have real grits on the menu. The service was excellent.

Good home cooked food. Most everything is deep fried so be prepared. It is all homemade tasting though. Our waitress, Betty, was a doll. She took care of us so well! The restaurant is crowded and the décor is outdated but don’t let that fool you. The food is good. If you see a line outside don’t be discouraged. There is no waiting area inside at all. Also even if you are last in line you may still get seated in a timely manner. They don’t sit by how early/late you arrived but by which size table is available. They will also not seat you until your entire party has arrived so if half your group is wondering down the road you will be last priority.

We came down to North Myrtle for a short weekend! Wary to make the drive to Myrtle beach, Hoskins seemed like a favorite amongst the locals! To be completely honest, we were absolutely famished by 5 pm and nearly every Unilocal option was looking enticing, but we decided on this family-owned joint. Upon getting to the restaurant, I couldn’t help but notice that the majority of the locals that frequented the restaurant were amongst the older crew, which was totally cool! They’ve lived and eaten their fair share, and if they’ve chosen Hoskin as a favorite, it must be delicious right?! Debatable. Don’t get me wrong, the service was great! The people were nice, friendly, and accommodating, but the food was nothing spectacular. I had the broiled flounder with a side of baked sweet potato. With the dish, I was also given one trip to the salad bar(which looked relatively fresh!). The food was simple, but solid, but if you’re looking for amazing or spectacular, look elsewhere.

In laws raved about this place since the last time we were here. It didn’t live up to the hype. Just waiting in the restaurant and looking at the food it all look nasty. By the time we sat down I had lost my appetite. I ended uon ordering the bbq sandwich and the bbq itself was really good. However the fries were nasty. We had the chocolate Carmel brownie cake and it was awesome! This and the bbq kept me from giving this place one star. That and the waitress was very nice and attentive. It was really busy and a lot of people talked about it so I guess they might have other good stuff but I won’t be going back anytime soon… except to get the cake to go.
